@Fortitude , I hate seeing us play 3/5 at the back, but yeah, I agree with you here.

I've liked Ocampos for a while now, and I would've been worried about him even with Shaw, but with Brandon? Yeah, he's going to need that extra support the lcb gives him in said formation.

Seriously hope we don't go with a back 4. Rashford and Williams would have to attack and oppress the flank that way, but with how Rashford is playing and how out of his depth Williams looks, I don't fancy that as a strategy.

Don't think this is a game for huff and puff bluster, particularly with how our energy levels look.

Ole usually play a back five against this sides he feel would try to play on the front foot and has quality
    Romero
    Bailly Maguire Lindelof
    AWB Pogba Matic Williams
    Fernandes
    Martial Rashford

I can see this is as our lineup against Sevilla. Ironically we never play 352 with Martial & Rashford up top. We always use Martial-James, we used Martial-Greenwood in diamond 4312 vs Everton and we normally use Rashford-James. Really keen to see it if we do play 352.

Usually we play Rashford and James while playing the 352 it worked earlier in the season but I'll prefer Martial-Rashford,they have a good understanding and would make a great front two

Some Phelan quotes I just noticed:

It's very important to show, at the end of the season, all the hard work you've put into it and that is usually done with silverware. We feel as though we've come a long way in a short space of time and I think everything is developing in the direction we want it to and that's really good from our point of view. We felt as though we had a lot of work to do and the time we had to do it in, and we feel as though we're in front of that a little bit.

We know where we want to be. We're not there yet, but I think getting to three semi-finals and finishing third was terrific, but it's not the be all and end all. You need to show something, which is a trophy at the end of a season if you possibly can. But I think we're on the right track. I think it's getting there. We've worked a lot - Ole, the coaches and the staff - in the background and we've all started to gel well together.

Everybody now understands what we expect and how we go about our work and our play, and I think you can tell they communicate well with each other, there are no superstars, and they're a good group.
We've enjoyed the first part of it. Now we're really going into the serious stuff with the semi-final and hopefully we stay here for the long haul.

Everyone has settled in pretty quickly, one thing that's been a little bit different to back home has been the heat and the humidity, but I think after the game we had on Monday, the boys will benefit from training in this climate for five or six days. It has a little feel of pre-season in a way, when you come in and you're experimenting a little bit, but we're at the back end of the season, albeit that seems strange in itself when we talk about it nearly being September. But we're here to do what we hopefully want to do and that's to qualify for the final and take it one step further than the other semis we've got to this season.

Feck that 3 at the back when Williams and Wan Bissaka are our WB’s.
Stick with tried and tested for 99.9% of the season

Lots of detailed preview from Andy Mitten & Mike Phelen

Wolves did well enough against them. It’ll be tough but we can do this. I think we are a little freaked out because of the run they are on and the Jose match but we are currently a better team than that. This will probably be our hardest match in the whole competition and I wouldn’t be majorly surprised if it went to extra time again. I hope we set up a little less open then we were against Copenhagen but not 5 at the back without Shaw... I’d do what Fergie used to do and pack the midfield out with energy, Bruno behind martial and keep it nice and compact. I would have considered dropping Rashford for this but I’ve a feeling we will be trying to counter them as quickly as possible. Hopefully he can step up.

I would prefer to play 4 at the back. But drop Greenwood at the start with Rashford and Martial up front and play Fred in midfield along with Matic, Pogba and Bruno. Fred will give that extra in midfield to make sure Matic doesn't get overrun.
But I am scared Ole is going to go with 3 up front and we would get overrun.

Why is this such a late kickoff on a Sunday? No fans. Should be a noon kickoff.

If we line up like we did against FC Copenhagen then we will be in trouble. Bruno has to play alongside Pogba and not as second striker. Otherwise our MF will be overrun.

3 atb is a terrible idea with Williams and AWB. Just go at them with our normal lineup and see what happens. I’m tired of having to “set up” for decent teams like we’re fecking Everton

It is the worst idea. They aren't good enough going forward in a 4-man backline, let alone as wingbacks. Keep the fecking system we've played the last couple of games. Just make sure our midfielders are closer together and stop using Bruno as a second striker and Fred as a CB.

Yeah the tactic we used to beat City 3 times is never going to be good enough for Sevilla...

Yeah the tactic that we used to lose to Chelsea 3-1 is not what I'd like to see. Your know it all attitude is so tiring on here.

We have very mixed results playing 4-2-3-1 against the better teams. And Are Chelsea as good as City? Of course not

Our left side is going to be targeted and our weak one both defense and attack with Williams and out of form Rashford.

I do agree Bruno should play abit deeper than normal and he is dangerous playing there and add to building up phase. Don't know why we push him up so high when our team try to build up from GK.

And we are wearing our new away kit too

To be fair. We actually started conceding after we switched back to a back 4 due to Bailly injury.

I want that scouse prick on comms for us, let's see how keen he is for all English teams in Europe really shall we.

We need to make a strong start. It’s a major problem for us how long we take to start playing and it has been for some time. We start too slow and sloppy.

We do have a very good record against the top teams this year. Why doesn't that result is casual fans accepting that our coaching staff know more than them about tactics , I will never work it out

Maguire has been so bad lately that 3 at the back is the only viable option tomorrow. He really is a massive problem for us, very hard to see us winning anything with him in the team.

We only conceded 3 more goals than this year's EPL winner despite De Gea having the worst season of his career. So, tell me, how did we manage that if Maguire is such a liability?

Bizarre post. How quickly fans have become blind to all the good stuff that he does which we've been missing for years. Of course he isn't always perfect, no defender is. But he's the best we've had since Rio and Vidic, hands down, and that shouldn't be taken for granted.

Tl;dr: football fans are never happy these days.

We’ve enough in attack to cause them serious problems; we need to be on the front foot focusing on what we can do & not the other way round.

    Confident of a win.

They are more worried about us, than we are about them*

    * excluding the proportion of our pathetic fanbase who would far rather focus on any negative aspect of any game.

That’s not to say we will win easily, let the best team win, and scrap the ridiculous pre-match analysis.

If we play with a deflated attitude, the way we did against Chelsea (and to some extent: Copenhagen) we will be thrashed. But our best form with this squad is far superior to fecking Sevilla who struggled to beat Wolves.

A lot will depend on how will Bruno, Pogba and Rashford play. And hopefully we will have no stupid errors from defense + goalkeeper.

Even though this competition is not that important for us, anymore, having finished 3rd and qualified for CL, I think all of us want to defeat Sevilla, so we can stick "heritage" up Mourinho's ass :)
