Pretty easy team to predict - 10/11 with only one I got wrong being Bailly instead of Lindelof.
Fine with Pogba being on the bench. Get him ready for Chelsea.
Got a feeling if all goes well here he won't be starting against Chelsea and we'll see the same team with the exception of Jones in for Lindelof.
We have to just accept that Mourinho prefers Young over Shaw
I think she is on about Shaw not even being on the bench. Now all of a sudden Darmian is on the bench instead.

Lampard gets it but our own fans don’t

Not the end of the world people...

This proving a point thing really is a bit silly. Playing a 21 year old with less than 20 senior career games in a champions league knockout stage match - also a bit silly

Looking forward to people defending this lineup if it goes badly. Let's hope it doesn't, come on Utd!

Mourinho has no problem playing Sanchez where he wants to play. Sanchez is clearly the best RW in the team and Martial has been just as good as Sanchez on the left. Pogba clearly plays best in a midfield 3 with a box to box midfielder to his right. It looks Mourinho doesn't like French players.

Just in case any fans are feeling nervous, just remember.

We're playing a team that would finish in the bottom six if they were in the Premier League! (apparently)

It's important to keep things tight at the back because we're not scoring with that team. Then we can get the big boys on in the second half. It's a very strong bench at least.

So the stage is set: either Mourinho gets it right or it's his 'Nick Powell' moment (although not really).

He done this against Huddersfield. This is a pretty important game if you haven't noticed. Not a time to making motivational 4D chess moves.

People are believing what they want to believe.

The biggest match this season so far... and we play a midfield we have never played before, right? We do without Rash, Pogba and Matrial.

Mou is either blinded by stubbornness or... has muchos gigantes cojones. (Sorry, don't speak the language of our opponent)

Mata for Lingard is another call I'm surprised by. Don't get me wrong, I like Mata, but I thought Jose would have went for Lingard for more running and pressing.

The state of that team  Scapegoats in almost every position.

Hopefully we can contain our way to a score draw, or even nick a win if we get our subs right. Not going to be a blowout either way. Mourinho will rightfully show some respect to the home side.

I don't understand. Why would you drop your player of the month in Martial and your best midfielder in Pogba? Ironically we finally play a 4-3-3 and it's without the player it's best suited to.

Ever Banega plays, if he gets on the ball and starts playmaking, we are fecked. He on his day can dominate a match on his own.

Really strange team selection. But I think Lindelof will be okay. I'm actually pleased Herrera is starting but obviously cannot understand why no Pogba.

Hope Jose proves us all wrong, he is supposed to be the special one after all.

Anybody who thinks Pogba hasn't been dropped is deluding themselves i'm afraid.

    1. He trained yesterday and Mourinho said in his press conference that Pogba had been training and that equals him being up for selection.

    2. We are playing Herrea whose last game was against Spurs on the 31st if he's ready then so is Pogba.

    I'm really worried.

Not really about this game per se we should be good enough to win this without Pogba.

I'm worried but this is one of the most important games this season for us and we're not playing one of our two best players?

What does this say? There is now no conclusion that can be drawn other than there being a problem between Mourinho and Pogba and that could be a total disaster for us. I'll leave it there for now but if we lose this then my god...

Yeah I think that's it. He doesn't like French players.

    :wenger:

At this point, i think Mourinho believes Alexis is our most effective player. My guess is he's trying to solve one variable at a time. We all saw what happened when all of Alexis , Martial, Pogba ,Lingard started against spurs. Nothing wrong in taking a step back and deciding what is the best team for the occasion.

Because he's our best player, like it or not. It's the manager's responsibility to get the best out of him which hasn't been a problem with his previous clubs.

This is classic Mourinho grandstanding - Anyone thinking this is anything else is delusional. We switch to a 4-3-3 now, without him? feck out of here. Making a statement in our most important game of the season. He's done a good job of nothing - We've been genuinely terrible without Pogba this season, significantly worse even in the two games he was hauled off. This is a power play by Mourinho and he can get fecked. He's not going to be here in 2/3 years anyways and he's freezing out the best asset at the club. Insane.

Is he our best player though? I'd say Sanchez is and he can play several positions rather than a limited profile.

We've not seen a version of Pogba that eclipses Sanchez or De Gea for me.

Do we think there is an actual rift between Jose and Pogba?

    This is concerning.
