According to Sky Sports... United have controlled more a less every stage of this half, but a mixture of inept finishing and lackadaisical defending has put Northampton right in this game. Isn't this the story of the last three games?

    Try last three seasons.

Rooney has lost so much ability, how is he one of the highest paid players in the world.

Fosu-Mensah cant defend. If he cant do it against this crowd, he cant do it the PL.

What was incredible is every single defender fecked up for that goal. They all had a go.

    LOL Yep.
Some are blaming Rooney and Mensah - but they all had a go.
I think Morgan passed the ball into the box, which forced Blind to make a "from behind" tackle, which led to the penalty.
I think 5 players were at fault for that one.

What does herrera actually do? There is someone like him at work, always looks busy but at the end of the day they don't have anything to show for their efforts.
He runs around, plays little sideways passes but never actually does anything.
Too many players like him in our squad, lingard young schniederlin Rooney now

cruising it without threatening their goal to much, yet we go in 1-1 Incredible game football.

Rooney reminds me a bit of Owen near the end. Stuff has to be on an absolute plate now.

Thought we started really well, even thought we'd score a few in that first half, and then a fecking shambles unfolded.

That was a fairly decent performance up to the 40th minute mark. Relative to previous, of course.

It would help if we didn't have a donkey masquerading as a centre forward.

Exactly. If that was a pen it would be a joke as seen far worse where keepers come and land a punch without getting the ball and some even manage to get a free kick.

They get free kicks for players challenging them inside their 6 yard box more often than not. I thought it was similar to the Watford tackle on Martial, got the ball first but could be excessive force

This is going to be one of those Scooby Doo moments where someone pulls the mask off Mourinho, only to reveal that it's still LvG in charge.

"And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids! I told you, it was a process!"

We'll loose this. This "team" simply has no spirit at all, however, you would think that these guys wanted to take their chance.

This will be an annoying second half..

No broadcaster in Norway has bought the Carling Cup rights, so this isn't being showed here. Ridiculous, but it sounds like I'm not missing much.

Whatever about the shambolic defending, but we just look clueless in attack. There's no cohesion whatsoever, we're being comprehensively shut out by a fecking league one team.

Rooney is not getting the service, which is forcing him to come into midfield, to get the ball, himself.

Played well up until the last 5, I'm convinced we'll win.

Does anyone know when the draw is?

Typical Blind, looks so brilliant on the ball but he just doesn't have that ruthlessness of a proper defender. He's too pretty to be a first team defender for a club that is aspiring for trophies.

Anyone not putting a large portion of the blame on rojo for that abortion of a clearance needs to have a word ha

A serious lack of bottle and drive in this team. Too many sidewards passes and not enough quality up front. Depay and rooney have been shocking. Mensah has been average not providing width.

Tfm has had 0 match practice for a while thanks. To mourinhos policy. Lets. Cut him some slack.
    Exactly this.
This vilifying of kids for every single mistake they make needs to stop. They're bound to make mistakes and especially when they're not even getting a sniff at first team football.

This has show me that Rojo needs to be shipped off, TFM needs match experience, One of Smalling or Blind need to bloody take charge of that back 4, Romero is not good enough even as back up, Rooney is playing in midfield again it seems and fluffed two good chances. Not sure what Young is doing and Depay meh. Get Rooney off and Rashford on to drag that back 4 all over the place.

They seem incredibly demoralised. I though Jose lasted 3 seasons before p@ssing everyone off, not 3 matches.

I feel like this is Rooney's last start in a United shirt.

None of the players look like they want to be out there.

And Mourinho is standing still as a statue at the sideline. Quite a transformation from all his gesticulation and shouting during the pre-season and the first games of the season. At this rate, he's probably going to end up like LVG in his seat taking notes. But tbf, with the way the players are acting and playing I understand him.

I don't get it, you'd expect a player like Schneiderlin to grab this chance by the neck and try to run the show. Instead, apathy.

Somethings happening on our right, they've realised they're getting space down it

Why does every player move up the pitch when Carrick picks the ball up from defence? Come short and offer yourselves so we don't have to keep hitting it long to players who are short and don't have a great deal of pace. And why is Young constantly in the middle instead of staying out wide to help open things up? It's not like he's of any use in a congested box.

The first 20 minutes were pretty enjoyable though.

    Exactly this.

    There's no vilifying.
People mention mistake weather it's a young player or not. Nothing to do with him being young.

The worst thing about Rooney in that half wasn't that he missed a couple of chances, it was that he stopped playing as a 9 when he should have kept getting into those areas.
