    How the feck is VdB on the bench?

    Awful lineup. Same shit LB, same shit CBs.

    Henderson and VdB must be wondering wtf is going on.
     
    Hard to justify VDB not starting with that front four. Think Mata deserves to start but James over VDB makes no sense. Also disappointing not to see Maguire and Lindelöf both in there. Newcastle will look at that lineup and fancy their chances.
     
    I wanted to see vdB but I'm happy to see Pogba dropped. We'd better have more authority in the middle of that park now, if we're still porous with both Scott and Fred in there I'll be mightily hacked off.

    Interesting line up. Certainly not what I expected. I guess things can’t get worse than it already is, so I assume new energy and faces into the team will change things.

    I expect this game to go similarly to our performance against Brighton b team. Newcastle won’t have the quality to punish us and we will take advantage of their open defense.

    Also surprised that DVDB can’t start even in this game.

    Martial is banned after his red card. Mason supposedly injured.
     
    Not the most inspiring line up. I think Ole has gone back to the midfield double pivot that he knows best from last season (with varying results). Does scream a lot like a team who don't want to lose first and foremost rather than an attacking line up to dominate and win.

    Going forward, I'm not sure James is the right player against Newcastle who will sit back. In fairness, if Greenwood is injured, Martial is suspended, Cavani is still in quarantine and Igahlo not been any good in his last outings then maybe he's the only option as one of our attacking players.

    Upside is that Mata will bring some composure and hopefully find the runs of Bruno, Rashford and James (if they decide to make any!)

    Martial got sent off against Spurs. Three match ban. Presume Greenwood is injured/ill.

    I can't believe we're still starting Mata on the right wing. It proves how much of a trainwreck the summer window was.
     
    Crap team.

    James and Mata aren't good enough. Solksjaer clearly felt that way as he's barely selected them for league games but he leaves a CL proven player in VDB out.

    Maguire really shouldn't be starting either. I think he's our best defender, but he's so horribly out of form that it's better to leave him out for his own sake.

    Gotta wonder why we got him them. I mean I’m all for squad depth but I’m not sure we’re in a position to blow our summer budget on a player who doesn’t get picked.

    Should have put Bruno on the right and Donny in the #10
     
    On a positive note it seems impossible for us to be playing worse, so the new starters can only make us better.

    On the other hand the team looks pretty uninspiring going forward on paper, Newcastle will fancy themselves
     
    Sticking with the 4-2-3-1 which hasn’t worked at all & I’m not sure how VdB doesn’t get into this starting lineup. Wasn’t very confident before of winning, even less now.

    James should be better on the left, but I said that last time and it ended up looking like he didn’t want to even be on the pitch.

    Hopefully the break has helped him reset his confidence.
     
    The level of delusion is strong with some of the Caf. How hopeful do you have to be to actually think it'll be all good because "James is playing on his favoured left". Fecking hell. Good players don't play awful for long periods of time and then suddenly switch into competency because they're coming in onto their favoured foot. :lol:

    I like Bruno and am as disappointed at anyone with the shit show we had in the window but who gives a feck whether Bruno is pissed off or not? Man United aren’t there to satisfy Bruno Fernandes. It’s the other way round.

    Martial got a red card because of Lamela when we got battered by Spurs. Greenwood is injured. Cavani is under quarantine.
