I’m not sure that’s how Ole’s mind is working.

He's trying to foster a positive atmosphere in the whole squad - thus I wouldn't be too surprised if he does.

Besides - I don't think Fellaini in for Matic would be the worst thing in the world (even though I've been a big fan of Matic these last 3 games). For a start we'd be better at defending set-plays.

Newcastle have the 19th poorest home record in the league this season - only Huddersfield are worse and by two points - so we need to be getting at them from the off. For all the talk of Rafas defensive nous, they’ve been awful at the back this season.

Seems like Newcastle have been using 5 at the back recently. Has Ritchie been playing at wing back? Surely thats a massive weakness if we manage to overload his side.

I think it will be hard tonight, but hope for a win. Newcastle got mixed form, but Rafa can raise the game against us.

Any team news coming through? Hoping Rashford is ok for tonight.

Good test for Man. United tonight.

Newcastle aren't great but they'll be much more difficult to break down than your last three games. Rondon is also in good form the other end.

Think you'll pinch it 1-2 with a late goal.

Another test and they will find another 20 - 30% tonight. Think there will be more changes and I think Rom and Sanchez will start. Ole is giving everybody a chance to show what they can do....

We should win this but it will be the biggest test of Ole's credentials so far. We do quite often make a meal of things at St James'. They are very poor but we have a habit o making them look better than they are (maybe it's that they raise their game against us). I'll take any victory, given that we are pretty much bound to let in at least one goal! I'd love to see a rejuvenated Sanchez tear them apart

Fourth game in a row I can't wait for. I love this feeling .

I think this will be tougher than our last 3 games, but I can see us getting a narrow win.

    Going for a 2-1 victory.

Think it's unlikely we change a front three that have contributed 12 goals in three games.

I doubt that any of them will start, hope they don't. We have a front trio that is performing fine, no immediate need to change things around from the start, Lukaku can come off the bench. Ole said Sanchez will be involved, doubt we'll change 2 out of 3 players up front, at most it'll be one, reckon that Lukaku and Sanchez will both come on at around 60-70mins.

I might regret myself later but right now I actually have the feeling that this match will not be more difficult than the previous three.

We will dominate and make at least three and perhaps more goals. If they are lucky, they make a goal on a fixed situation, but I don't think we will let anything in today.

Glad to hear Ole say that Rashford should be fit for this, he can have ten days rest after that before the Spurs game, the second string and kids can play vs Reading.

Is there any team news as to who has travelled for this game?

Usually it would be posted about 24 hours before

I know Ole said Rashford should be fine, but I think he could be lacking a bit of energy after the last couple of weeks so I suspect he'll come on as a sub if need be. I've gone with Lukaku in the line up instead, just for the sake of rotation.

Will this be on Sky sports or BT sports? Thanks

I'm with you, another good win for this tonight!

Waiting on us to run out of steam. We surely can't continue like this? Think it'll be 1-1.

Don't compare Lingard to Barca Pedro. In relative terms, it's about as crazy as saying Martial is performing like Henry.

No one is saying they are performing at the same level, however the drop in quality from the other 2 is even more pronounced at Barcelona, yet you never heard them calling for someone to match the other 2. They just understood what it was that Pedro brought to the side that the others would flourish further.

Even Matić can score these days so I'll go for a United win despite gut feeling about Benitez preparing something tactical to cull the goalscoring blizzard.

Think people are being overconfident. Even when we were good, SJP was never an easy place to go. And if there's one thing Benitez can do, it's shut a game down.

I think there's little need for change today and I'd be surprised if there's more than three all together. I'm sure the following will start:

    De Gea

    Young
    Jones
    Lindelof
    Shaw

    Matic
    Pogba

    Martial

Lingard has played every minute under Ole so far, I think only him, Lindelof, Shaw, Pogba and de Gea have done that. He'd be the most likely forward to play a lot so far to bench, other than if Rashford is still feeling the effects of the groin tweak against Bournemouth.

However, I see this game as one where we go full strength and try to win it early, then sub off the likes of Lingard, Rashford, and one of Shaw/Herrera/Matic.

We have Reading at the weekend and I can see all of De Gea, Young, Lindelof, Shaw, Herrera, Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford and Martial being left out of that game - perhaps entirely with none of them even on the bench! So, it's a case of get through this game and all the potentially tired lads get over a week off before the Spurs clash.

I'd like to see Lukaku and Sanchez replace Lingard and Rashford after maybe 65-70 minutes tonight as a warm up for playing almost the full whack against Reading. I don't mind Mata not getting any time on the pitch tonight if possible as he can play most of the 90 at the weekend too.

    de Gea
    Young Lindelof Jones Shaw
    Matic
    Herrera Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial
    ---
Romero; Darmian; Fellaini, Fred, Mata; Lukaku, Sanchez

Perfect time to tell Rashford he doesn't want to risk him and for him to give Lukaku a start. Lukaku needs to start at some point and since Rashford has a knock he can do it without "dropping" him.

I'd be very surprised if Rashford starts and Lukaku does not.

    An interesting test.

I always want to beat Rafa come what may. I think it'll be different. Newcastle will park the bus (remember that?) and play 8 men behind the ball and it'll be up to us to break them down.

Still i'm confident and i'm going for a United win 2-0.

While I'm quite excited to see us play regardless of our league standings, it would be quite the cherry on top if we win convincingly while Chelsea drop points. Might as well keep up the pretence of chasing top 4 for as long as it may last.
