That's a hard fought, honest and contested clean sheet victory. Resolve and character throughout the back and front that haven't seen too many times before today.

    Well done! Great 3 points

I thought I'd never say this but in the next game I'd rather see Young or Darmian ahead of Valencia.

He's done completely as a player at this club imo.

Difficult win but our squad showing its strength and players returning from injury. Give the kids a run against Reading and let's get ready for the massive game at Spurs.

Very pleased Ole got his clean sheet. Could've been 3 or 4 nil in the end.

Deserved victory, but the worst of our 4 performances

A bit of fatigue was probably at play, but I think the main issue today was the team selection that was utterly disjointed and made Newcastle's job far easier.

Glad OGS finally sorted it, but I mark that down as his first obvious mistake and hope he learns from it. Serious though now has to be given to the future as both a Captain and member of the 1st team. Sadly he has fallen off a cliff in terms of ability. I still think he has been a good signing and a great servent to the club though

Hard fought game. They didn't have gold opportunities. I think we were pretty careless with our final balls having carved them open a few times especially in the first half. Lindelof, Matic, Rashford and Herrera were the stand out performers. I just dont think Lukaku fits our style of play and yet again his touches were awful when he came. Did well with reacting to that rebound and impressed with his sharpness but he needs to improve technically. Otherwise, onwards and upwards.

That league table is a lot more inspiring for the rest of the year.

Not the best performance for the first hour, not clinical going forward and shaky defence.

That's about right if you ask me.
It's probably a 1:6 ratio of aggressive intent between the two challenges

Got to say, that was a poor refereeing display!
They showed Pogba’s revenge 3 times more. Yeah, I mean, I thought Bailly’s red was Ok at first glance last game, but I counted three worse from Newcastle (Lascelles twice and Shelvey).

True, and he is a good impact player from the bench.
His touch and control are still absolutely awful
I just think it's ridiculous to have someone with his price tag coming from the bench. He should get a chance as a striker in this new system at least. He had already scored two goals of the bench in the last two games.

Think Lukaku will improve. Ole said he should be playing with his back to goal, but facing or turning towards goal. I tend to agree.

Hah, I thought so, but wasn’t sure:angel: Thought we got our wires crossed:lol: I’m juggling a lot of threads now (hey, redcafe is fun again!).
The gloom and doom merchants tried their hardest today to shit on Ole and some of the players but they'll have to wait.

Some on here seem to think SAF won all his games 10:0 in the first 20 minutes picking the same side for every game in all competitions.

Transfer fee is no longer relevant as wasnt Ole's call.
Who are you going to drop Martial or Rashford? We need 4 strikers and i am sure he will get plenty of game time as the 3rd choice.

I remember when we won 1-0, around 10-11 games on the trot.

    Dalot has a bright future.
Who we need now is Koulibaly - get him at all costs.
I think Dalot needs much more time than expected to rely on, we need a ready R.B IMO. And yes hopefully we can get someone like Koulibaly as a C.B, this area is so weak.

A gutsy all round performance, not our finest but we dug in and battled. And we can ask no more than that, the only downside is that the giant we know and love has seen better days. Valencia, I'm afraid your numbers up. Thanks for the service, you've been great over the years.
