I give up. Only if you show me Pogba's first half heatmap, before Matić dropped to centerback, could you be partially right. And even that would be just partially right about an exception!
POgba predominantly featured in left hand side, when we played 3 at the back earlier in the season.
Even in 4-2-3-1 setup , I have seen him on left side few times.
Here is another example from Leicester 2-2 United game.

So, the lineup I put is not just a wishful thinking.

    Would like to try:

    -------------DDG---------------
    Tony V---Lindelof---Rojo---Shaw
    ----Matic---Pogba---Lingard----
    --Rashford---Sanchez---Martial--

Know it's never gonna happen, but against Newcastle, what could go wrong??

    Sanchez...............Martial...................Mata...
    ..............Pogba..............Lingard..................
    ...........................Matic...............................
    Shaw.........Rojo............Jones...........Valencia
    ...........................DDG................................

5-0, hope Jose reads this thread and sees this post.

Sanchez needs to prove he's capable of playing RW at a high level. Martial can play the right footed LW role or striker. Sanchez has played RW at a high level before. At Newcastle would be a good opportunity to show he still can. If Sanchez can't play RW at a high level, United have too many right footed left wingers and no real quality at RW.

It is counted as 1 game if he is involved in the game, whether from starting lineup, or from bench. No need to be play full 90 mins.
Why dont you list all your doubts and post here, and I will answer all of those in one post.

To be honest i found the whole RedRom lingard thing funny at first, but now it s getting very tiresome. Half the posts on each match thread is him spamming why no Lingard and such.

I dont post much but im on here daily, and this is the first poster i put on ignire

Last game with 3 at the back with both in central midfield was Arsenal away, no contention whatsoever Pogba played right of Matić. The previous, with Watford away, even worse, although Herrera was in for Matić at 54’. I couldn't find any other instances of that situation earlier in the season, as you say it happened.

Again, you're wrong about that Leicester game. Check the players position again in the match report. I'm not saying Pogba doesn't go to the left of midfield, I'm saying he does it much less than Matić in a midfield two. Please compare with Matić's own heatmap for that game. And also, don't forget we shifted to 4-3-3 at 76', and then Pogba played left of midfield, obviously.

Harsh, sorry, I will calm it down then, sorry for my seeming man love coming over a bit strong.

Just get the three points any which way. We have harder fixtures coming up so we better not do anything stupid today.
    Slightly nervous to be honest.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Matic Pogba
    Lingard Alexis Martial
    Lukaku

Subs: Romero, Jones, Lindelof, McTominay, Herrera, Mata, Rashford

Easy 2-0 win, hopefully more goals if the attack clicks.

Can see this being a difficult game. Not confident after recent away performances at Spurs and Burnley.

Newcastle are absolutely horrible, particularly going forward. Anything other than a comfortable win would be worrying.

We should win comfortably but then we can also have a Huddersfield type day and come back with nothing. There are no easy games in the PL especially when you come up against teams fighting for their lives. If you don't match their aggression and don't come with the right attitude then you're asking for trouble. Huddersfield are one of the worst teams in the PL and they somehow beat us so I hope we're ready today.

Mourinho could have another injury concern
Ander Herrera appears to be injured, judging from his Instagram post, which has at least clarified why he wasn’t in the Huddersfield squad last week. Mourinho didn’t mention Herrera’s fitness during his press conference even though today seems set to be the second match he will miss through injury.

At a time where Matic is struggling and Pogba was dropped, it’s an untimely injury for Herrera, who will be needed in a midfield three against Sevilla and Chelsea the week after next.

Don't know if anyone has seen the instagram post on here. You might have to change or team/subs.

    Yes, Pogba in midifleld 2.
You know often I’ve seen it mentioned on here that Pogba plays on the right. Which for me is madness. He does of course drift about a lot and goes where he wants and Matic covers but he for me his position is where you’ve put it. His best game for us has also come from him operating down the left side. It’s also where he played for Juventus. He operates best off the left side and when we have shifted to a 3 that is where he has operated from.

Just seen that Mourinho has never won at St James.
    We need the points.
    Come on Man Utd!

I have a bad feeling about this one, and suspect we might only get a draw. Hopefully we'll give them a proper hiding, though.

    Negative Nelly here!

    Come on think positive!

We are in good form (bar the Spurs match), so what is there to be concerned or worried about here??

Hope for a professional 2-0 performance, although if Newcastle play the way they have been this season we could easily get more. We can't saunter into this game as if it's already won though, early goals are important as it'll force Newcastle to come out and play.

    Tiresome from Luckhurst.

Pogba was rested against a lowly opposition ahead of a schedule with some key games approaching.
Matic was in fine form against Huddersfield.
