I was just going through FC Midtjylland's latest fixtures and their last competitive game was last game of Europa league group stage, on 10th Dec! They have a long winter break there it seems but they have been playing friendly games since 21st Jan. They have played 6 friendly games since 21st Jan, but no competitive game. Not sure why it is like that, so many friendly games after the winter break.

Midgetland are full on into analytics and really work hard on set pieces, we specialise in giving free headers on set pieces so this could get ugly.

We'll probably get past this lot but that's as far as we'll get in the competition.

United under LVG have a unique ability, we seem to play at the level of the opposition, never convincingly above them. If the opposition is decent, we're usually decent, if the opposition is rubbish, we decend to their rubbish level. It's funny, frustrating and painful at the same time. It will be the same against this lot, we'll make them look like world beaters.

This is game 1 of the 2 cup games which will re-ignite the Van Gaal era..

    (In Woodward's head that is)

Don't want to break anyone's heart, but I don't think we have any chance to win this competition regardless.

My heart will go on. ;)

You'll beat this lot. They're garbage and don't have Allardyce to put a rocket up their arses.

They knocked Southampton out, didn't they?

We struggled to beat Brugge at home, as well. This won't be easy.

They were not very good about Legia at all, think they lost in Warsaw and were extremely lucky to win at home. I wasn't particularly impressed with them against Southampton either. If we cannot beat this sort of team then we've just hit the very bottom.

 at the people actually thinking we have a shot at winning the Europa League.

    Indeed.
LVG is keeping the delusion alive and fans continue to fall for it.
I remember when I too was deluded into thinking we could win the title and go into the last few rounds of the CL. I wont be falling for that again.
Our current form is akin to a team battling relegation. The fact that we lost to Norwich, Bournemouth, Sunderland, etc is in line with our form.

And IMO, LVG has already checked out. It just seems as if he doesn't care any more and is merely counting down the days to his retirement.

I'd say that Sunderland is our lowest point so far. The only way we can hit a lower point is losing to Aston Villa.

Our record against the so called weaker teams does not make for great reading:

    This season (v 11-20): PL 15; W 6; D 5; L 4; Pts 23 (45); GF 21; GA 15

Our struggles over the last 20 months have come against the lower placed teams in the league, and when you add in cup ties against the likes of MK Dons, Boro, Yeovil Town, Cambridge, Sheffield United, it's hard to be confident.

As for hitting rock bottom, think there's no where else to go.

We barely won the reverse fixture back in August on a lone Januzaj goal.

I dont care if we dont have any chance of winning this cup, i just want to see us play like we do got a chance.

Napoli/Dortmund/ Sevilla would rip us apart and Bilbao could do something similar if on form. Who does he think he is kidding? The F.A. Cup is more the option for a trophy, as it is quite often the luck on the day. Just shows he knows he has failed badly in getting fourth place and is in full panic mode.

I think I'd actually cry if we lost this.

I need to sort out my priorities...

I think they beat Brugge 4-2 on aggregate in their group, beating them and Legia Warsaw for the 2nd spot after Napoli.

I missed the first game, but the 1-1 draw to end the group stage was a miserable game really.
Midtylland's only shot on target in that game was their goal, a cross which went in due to a goalkeeper mistake.
Still angry that went in, would have loved a rematch between Man Utd and a Club Brugge team without that many injuries.

Apart from their set pieces, Pione Sisto is their only real threat based on what I've seen.

    Any famous players?

Nope they have no famous players, I saw there two qualifying games against Southampton where they were very disciplined and allowed Southampton to have all the ball. There is nothing special about the team and a Saf team would have absolutely murdered them over two legs.

Southampton were very wasteful against them, certainly in the second leg. We shouldn't have any trouble against them but we like to make hard work of things.

Shit are we playing on Tuesday or Wednesday this week?

    Oh

    :(

If we can't beat midgets, we might as well fold up shop.

It's because they have a very long winter break in Danish Superliga. League resumes on Feb 27th, after the two games against United.
