The mighty have indeed fallen

We're a shadow of what we were. I was expecting dread post-Fergie, but I had no idea it would be like this.

I can see us losing this. West Ham will be so up for it.

    De Gea
    Varela--Smalling--Blind--Rojo
    Schweinsteiger--Fellaini
    Lingard--Herrera--Martial
    Rashford

subs: Romero, Darmian, Fosu, Valencia, Carrick, WeMemphis

But I would rather see Fosu, Pereira, Memphis and arguably Januzaj start.

    De Gea
    Varela--Smalling--Fosu--Rojo
    Schweinsteiger--Herrera
    Pereira
    Lingard--Martial--Memphis

I would rather mix it up a little
I am worried about the shape BFS is in. Was it actually a good idea letting him go on holiday when he was injured?

Our season boils down to this. I just hope the players go out on the rampage and fight like their lives depend on it.

With our squad looking thin enough as it is (partly Van Gaal's fault - the idea that Rooney and Martial were enough strikers to get us through is madness. Rashford was a stroke of luck that he can't really be credited for, but also partly down to injury), I'm starting to think that it may be in our best interests in the semi-long term to pick one of the three competitions we're in, and just give up on it. We've got FA Cup, Europa League and Premier League games as our next three, and I think one of them should see a significantly diminished side, just to have players fresh for the other two. Van Gaal himself has said that Blind needs rest, for one example.

Sadly, I think the FA Cup game is the one. I hate to say it, because I've been wanting us to win that for ages, but we need to qualify for the Champion's League next season. That means finishing fourth in the Premier League, or winning the Europa League. Our next three Premier League games are City, Everton and Spurs (bold - home). They're not games you can rest players for. I may be wrong, but I think FA Cup victory "only" gives you a Europa League spot?

I'd go for something like this against West Ham:

    Romero
    Darmian Fosu-Mensah McNair Rojo
    Herrera Schweinsteiger
    Lingard Peirera Januzaj
    Fellaini

That's resting De Gea, Varela, Smalling, Blind, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Rashford, Memphis and Martial.

Then again, the way we're going we could do that, then lose to Liverpool again, see that team get smashed by West Ham, and finish the season outside of the Europa League spots!

Well after 2 defeats so should we. At home?

They are dangerous no doubt but I saw us being trashed by Arse and we came up trumps.

Point is;which Utd will turn up?

WTF have those Belgian Bellends done to deserve inclusion?

We made lollana look like iniesta last night so wtf is payet going to do to us, I think we'll be lucky to score one so I'm going for 1-2 or 1-3 to West Ham.

0-3, season all but over and then on Thursday, (of all teams) Liverpool to ram the final nail in this rotten coffin.

    That score prediction... Lol

    I expect us to lose.

I genuinely wouldn't care if we lost. At least that's the season over for good and I can delete PL football from my daily concerns until the summer/next season.

Genuinely dreading this match. I watched the 2nd half of West Ham's last cup match and they were rampant - OK it was against a shitty Blackburn side (are we that much better though?), but the attacking intent was scary, and utterly alien to anybody who's been watching United this season.

Still a bit optimistic about this game.. We've got more chance here than the two following games to say the least. Going for a 2-1 win in a bounce-back performance, until we're inevitably eliminated from the Europa League by Liverpool and fail to close the gap on City. We might well go on to win the FA Cup (somehow), but failure to finish fourth or win the Europa League would probably make this our least significant trophy win in my time supporting United.

Make no mistake though, this is a massive hurdle and the only positive we can take is that we're at home. If it was at West Ham, I'd give us almost no chance.

It's very hard to pick a line-up now, though I'd expect Fellaini to not start after playing the full game against Liverpool. Mata is obviously suspended, so this probably means Herrera in the No.10 role on Sunday.

    de Gea
    Varela Smalling Blind Rojo
    Carrick Schweinsteiger
    Lingard Herrera Memphis
    Martial
    ---
Romero; Darmian, McNair; Schneiderlin, Fellaini; Januzaj, Rashford

Perhaps Valencia, Pereira, Fosu-Mensah etc can get slots in the squad, someone is bound to get injured.

These next 3-5 games are still very important, even though I think we've already fluffed it since the West Brom defeat (and maybe before that if we're honest). Even if we're to have another disaster run now, I'd hope we can at least take points from Man City and Tottenham to give Leicester more of a chance (I can't believe I'm saying this). On the flip-side, the most likely outcome is that we're out of everything (FA Cup, Europa League, Top Four Race) by the end of March.

WTF have those Belgian Bellends done to deserve inclusion?

Nothing. I did say though that I thought a weakened side might be a better idea. Did you read the rest of my post, or did you see their names and decide to post immediately?

Honestly don't care. The quicker this season ends, the better. I don't want to miss any of our games, but I don't want to watch any, either. The best thing is to the limit our possible fixtures.

I don't know how anyone can be motivated to do well for LVG. I doubt the dressing room enjoys being together at all like the old days. Mata,Herrera and De Gea are a bit soft, selfie boys aren't they?

There seems to be no unity. Players never seem to leave the field happy even when we win. Heads down every time.

Van Gaal doesn't seem too fused with anything. He loves the attention, that's it. Has he ever been in the news this much? Ever? No. He loves it.

We'll be put out of our misery and can stay away from football 'til the Euro's, happy days.

I think we'll win actually, not easily mind you but eventually.
Of course we need to get the team right from the start, I'd try Valencia at RB, let him get at Cresswell a bit, get some crosses into West Ham's patched up central defence. Perhaps a 3-5-2 formation with Carrick, Smalling and Rojo. Blind on the left, Valencia on the right, Morgan, Anders and Lingard completing the MF, Martial and Rashford in attack.

We normally throw a mildly amicable performance in there every now and then. We'll win this and get spanked by City a week later.

Nah! We'll put up a stirring performance at teh council house;we owe them one but we'll lose at home to Palace and Norwich away;)

Fully expect Payet to embarrass our god awful defence.

Honestly, I think a lot of neutrals are going to be expecting West Ham to win this one. As well as that, I think a lot of the talk in the media will be about the consequences of United losing this one.

And for that reason, I think MU will win. Could easily see a little bit of pressure/complacency getting to West Ham and, mixed with the inevitable United reaction after tonight, I think yous will go through.
We had zero reaction from losing to West Brom, so I expect little against West ham

Let the games come thick and fast so we have a closure on this farce of a season. Worst manager in my recent memory,no foundations, nothing has been achieved in 2 years of astronomical spending. He should bury his head in shame and never make public football appearance again.

@TwoSheds For money spent and time allocated ,LVG has been a failure of epic proportion. All he had to do was to ensure champions league qualification but he failed.I can't wait to see his back.

Could see the atmosphere getting nasty if we have a repeat of our shambolic performance at Anfield.

It won't, we've been saying this for weeks and it's never got above the ironic cheer and boo stage.

Boring 0-0 draw with De Gea pulling us out of the shit again. West Ham to beat us in the replay.

januzaj and pereira to play for U21's again today... not that anyone expected them to be anywhere near the bench on Sunday anyway.

Can't see us winning this, certainly not looking forward to watching it, hope I've something better to do.
