It wasn't that fiercely struck, he's held onto much better shots than that.

He just seemed to let the ball hit him rather than actively trying to save it. He's been our best player for the last 3 years so he deserves some leeway of course.

But his standards have definitely dropped this season.

Yeah, I think he just needs to keep running and lay it off for one of the others. He can't seem to shoot after a dribble when the ball is still moving away from him straight in front. He prefers to cut to an angle with the ball either stopped dead or moving slowly. He can't get his feet right when dribbling and his distance from the ball when trying to shoot, its either too far away from him or too close to him where he needs to sort out his feet and his balance before striking. Allot of his goals come from cutting in on the angle and shooting at the far post.

This inability to capitalise on being a goal up and obviously superior to our opponent has been a consistent feature of our play under Moyes, Van Gaal and Jose.

It's hard to blame the manager when we invariably start games well. Suggests they're doing their job but the players are incapable of not switching off after scoring, or not falling apart if for some reason that early goal doesn't come.
