Arm was out. Not tucked in.
That is a pen. Every single person here would have wanted one if the teams were swapped.
Except that isn't the rule. The actual question you should be asking was if the arm was in 'an unnatural position' and, quite clearly, it wasn't.

How the feck, can anyone blame Lingard for chances that other players are missing? Fair enough, if we weren't creating anything and he was constantly messing up the play, but he's been fine.

The stick Lingard gets on here is extraordinary. You'd think a local lad who's playing well would get supported and backed by his own fans.

Im not just singling out Lingard. Its the entire team really. The lack of cutting edge and will to put the fecking ball in the back of the net is appalling. Its not a coincidence we have drawn so many matches with so called "lesser" teams at OT.

There is a pattern to this and its being played out yet again.

What does it take to put on someone like Mkhitaryan or Martial?! I mean they are surely better players than what we have on the pitch now. They also have goals in them.

No chance that was handball, it's blasted right at his hand from, what, a yard away? Of course his arm is out. Who plays football with their arms by their sides or behind their back? Nobody. You can't maintain any balance if you do.

The rule for handball is deliberate use of the hand. That is not a deliberate handball. His arm doesn't move. The ball is a yard away.

Mkhitaryan and Rooney on for Lingard and Rashford please.

Rashford either upfront or not at all.

We've been good. Compare this to that performance away to West Ham last season and it's night and day. This time we're first to every ball and bullying them when they have it.

Some lovely play so far by Mata, Herrera, Pogba and Ibrah with yet another keeper upping his game at Old Trafford.

I'd like to see Mkhitaryan on early in the second half and we need to push on for a couple of goals cushion because with Payet they will always we dangerous.

Jose was unfortunate to be sent off. It was a dive but it didn't look like it at first viewing. My reaction was the exact same watching at home! No other ref in the league gets sent to the stand for that.

The mentality of this team is so weak and fragile.

I wouldn't say its mentality, we wouldn't have seen such a response otherwise. I would call it weakness in a couple of areas that's been hurting us for a while now. (Defending Set-pieces, finishing infront of goal).

I swear. Sometimes people on here just don't admit it when a decision goes in our favour.
Do you expect players to run around the box with their hands tied to their bodies all the time or what?

Except that isn't the rule. The actual question you should be asking was if the arm was in 'an unnatural position' and, quite clearly, it wasn't.
The rule is deliberate handball, that was never deliberate handball.

That is a pen. Every single person here would have wanted one if the teams were swapped.

Don't be ridiculous, his hand is in a natural position and Payet shots it up from half a yard away. Everyone "wants" a pen in situations like that, but that does not mean it's the right call.

You see them be given, but 9 times out of 10 they are not given

Kind of just proves our point. He's clueless. The fact that the decision went our way this time doesn't make the decision right.
Refs make mistakes. Its impossible to see everything. Everyone cheating doesnt help. We need to lower our expectations.
The problem is when people start acting like the ref has it out for us.

Incompetence is one thing. Playing the victim is another.
We constantly laugh at teams doing that. Liverpool fans kept going on about Fergie and "brown envelopes" and the corrupt FA. It was hilarious.

Our fans are going down the same path now that we arent winning.
    It needs to stop.

Duncan Castles can feck off. Went from completely anti-Utd to sucking up because his idol is manager.

Is this a film, or a real sporting event?

2 wrongs and all that. I dont care about Arsenal. We got lucky. And wasnt everyone complaining about Arsenal getting the decision in the other thread?

I dont remember. Which one was that?
It's not a penalty. Those are never given these days and his hand was beside his body, he didn't reach for the ball.

    Basically you're talking shit.

I really think defending set pieces is 90% willpower and mentality rather than skill. You just have to want to get on the ball more than the other man. We are very weak in that sense.

The lack of composure in the final third is also absolutely shit.

So happy with the way we play but doubt we'll actually win.
We've seen this a few times at home this season.

Kind of just proves our point. He's clueless. The fact that the decision went our way this time doesn't make the decision right.

But isn't the penalty pretty much the only decision he's got wrong? What else are people criticising him for. Sure, sending Mourinho to the stands smacks of making a decision based on the offender, but I wouldn't say it was completely undeserved.

Apart from that there was the Pogba yellow, which was deserved. He dived and got booked. No conspiracy there.
Our penalty appeal - spot on. To me it didn't even look like it hit his hand, but even if it did there is no way that's a penalty.

Not sure why anyone's moaning about the ref, he's been pretty good so far - and his only questionable decision went in our favour.

Totally agree, If we had forwards that could finish it wouldn't be an issue.

Except that isn't the rule. The actual question you should be asking was if the arm was in 'an unnatural position' and, quite clearly, it wasn't.

There's always the distance to power thing that has to be considered, distance was incredibly short there.

It's for sure that we are not doing enough. We cannot kep saying every week its the refs fault, or the other team raised their game, or their goalie had a worldy. We need to start putting points on the board. The start to the season is no where near good enough

I really do feel our main problem is our wingplay game, we have lingard who just plain average who should be at best a bench player, and rashford is not the most comfy out there, would not mind rashford out there if we had another natural winger who was performing to a standard we expect from our wingers. Its a frustrating squad, we have some stellar players out there, and then we have players in this squad who boggles the mind how they even at this club

It wasn't given...get over it, and move on with your life.

If you're moving a bit it's natural to have your arms out for balance - i.e. not a penalty.
2 wrongs and all that. I dont care about Arsenal. We got lucky. And wasnt everyone complaining about Arsenal getting the decision in the other thread?
It's not "2 wrongs". The refs interpret the rule this way, so that's the rule.

These twats gave Spurs the game last week. Look at Bournemouth and Burnley giving goals away for fun this weekend. Then every team we play against suddenly goes all space jam.

    Game raising twats.

It's been this way for as long as I can remember though, we're just a cup final to a lot of teams.
Yes but its galling when there are now 3/4 sides as good as us and they're being waved through by incompetence ala Burnely v City. It was just a few months ago their defenders were recreating scenes from the Avengers at OT

I honestly think we need to score 3 to win this game.

Thats how weak we are mentally.

Hoping we get a dodgy pen in the second half because this bunch keep bottling it. At least put on the fecking German player of the year and see how it goes. What worse can we do?

Happy with our play, upset about the sloppy concede but that's the Premier League for you. Someone buy Payet off WH ffs!

Think the Pogba incident needs A LOT of discussion on Sports Radio and the other forms of media going forward. He should not have to get badly injured (by leaving his leg firmly planted when he sees an aggressive tackle coming his way) to get a FK! There was no contact but tfft – to book him for a dive is pathetic!

    Think we'll win 3:1
