Young has been the best player in the first half. Getting nothing from the right side of the field. RvP has looked very lively, hopefully he gets some chances in the second half.

We can win whatever but bottom line think that some players dont have enough IQ for this way of play. Try some fake attempts, then just slip a pass, invert wingers get between their CBs and FBs,make space for overlap etc.

This Fellaini business is not working. Teams are dealing with him easily now. Get Di Maria on.

Here's a radical thought lets play more than one up top when at home against shite!?

Young has been very good and the only one who has looked like creating a goal. Herrera yet again showing he is a quality player but he needs to play further up the pitch if we wants to get the best out of him.
For the second half I'd put Di Maria on for Mata who has been poor for the second game in a row now.

I think you have Young and Mata the wrong way round. Young, bless him, is the epitome of form is temporary, class is permanent.

The question I pose is who is meant to be the one finding the defence splitting pass? For me it is Mata and Rooney (or Herrera when he plays his normal position).

i would rather have a switch of positions between rooney & herrera. too less creativity for a pair of rooney+fellaini combo. better to have herrera to replace one of them. and rooney is more resolute than herrera so won't be a problem to play a deeper role.

there was a few occasions we could have even penetrated directly in the middle but we didn't have a player able to do it there.

but am confident we could get a goal in the 2nd half anyway

Hasn't been too bad, we just need to take our chances. We'll be fine.
Not bad, but we need to grab that one chance that comes along. May not be too many given the way they've jammed the bus between the goalposts.

Cant we just try something different to this style of play Herrera to Rooney to Mata trying to play it in and .....?

Hope to See ADM second half he can come up with something different.

We're playing a 4-1-0-4-1 formation. Rooney and Fellaini doing their best to surround themselves with West Brom players.

Rooney should be playing as the CDM, and then Herrera and ADM in front of him.

You do realise a lot you guys sound so much like Arsenal these days?

As in you destroy a few teams then any team that doesnt want to be beaten and you arent beating is parking the bus.

Time for the players to step it up, 3 games in a row is not just the opposition parking the bus, its United lacking any creativity, pace or ability for long periods.
But they are literally parking the bus. Worse than you lot. They don't even want to counter

It's no excuse, it's just fact that they are not actually here to play football. It's a safe tactic to grab a point against a United side who just can't play through teams who keep their shape.

Just out of curiousity what tactic can actually beat a parked bus?
    The running bulldozer

He's too hesitant to have a pop. RvP messed up that counter but Rooney had the space to shoot himself in the first place. Why are we restricting him when we're playing a team content with defending all day? Take the shackles off, push him higher up. We shouldn't need his defensive work in this game really.

Totally agree about the counter, the goal was there for him to score.

Need to find a way through defences like today. #
We are too predictable at times.
We also need more pace and we are not exploiting the right wing.

Might as well take Fellaini off, he's wasted in a game like this.

The most soul destroying half of football in a while. Not because of us, I might add. West Brom and Pulis are anti-football personified.

But isnt that the absolute spot on thing to do then?

Thats what ive never got about the whole Arsenal thing. We've all seen what Arsenal over the years can do to teams on their day or what United did over that 6 game period, so its almost like you are asking the question. ' Why wont you let us win the game'? A weakness in Uniteds game has been found and exploited, Pulis would be an idiot not to do it.

The I would be tempted to bring Jones on to do Carricks job and let Herrera do his thing and take Rooney off.
Agreed but no way it happens. Cant see him using Jones like that. More likely we see Young go to LB, di Maria at LW and Blind to DM. Which would be OK - I'd take off Rooney or Fellaini. We need Herrera receiving the ball and driving forward, not asking Rooney or Fellaini to do that. As it is, they're standing still waiting for the ball rather than running over to be an outlet.

Otherwise it will have to be some random, pinball moment or unstoppable shot that gets us a goal.

Have faith folks. All it needs is one mistake, or one moment of magic, and the entire game changes.

I hate to pick on players, but Valencia offers nothing other than his defensive work rate. It baffles me that one of the quickest players we have cannot take on defenders. He should be trying this every time he gets the ball in acres of space. Move the ball forward ffs, play it more quickly. Side to side football is the new back pass for us :/

There's no point playing favorites and singling out players right now. Nobody has looked great. Defense and Herrera are doing their job well though. This is the first time we are playing Rooney and RVP in this system so obviously it was going to take time adjusting. Personally i don't think two strikers works well in this system. We are better off playing an extra midfielder in there.

Won't we all do the same if we had to come up with a plan to face United at OT? That says more about us than them. We're in big trouble if all teams coming to OT have to do is keep their shape in order to get a point.
