Good to have RVP back, if Rooney will be injuried still. We can make no mistakes at this game which can easily put us on the right track again finishing fourth. We must look forward to this and hope the players be more motivated and not under too much pressure too.

For once I can say, i told you so. We all need penetration from time to time & Man United are no different. In all seriousness, it was obvious following the Chelsea game that the not unintelligent Martinez, would copy JM's tactics & unless you're team is Barcalona & we're not, the other way to break down the parked bus, is to turn their central defenders, with penetrating runs into the box, at pace.

Now we're not blessed with pace at the moment but we do have £60 million quids worth, developing a fat ar*e, sitting on the bench. I can understand his being left out when things were getting a bit worrisome but we've all but nailed the top four (Liverpool don't seem to want it), so let's let the lad off the leash & tell him to go do his thing - get the ball in front of the area & run at the opposition defence. We will get penetration on occasion, send their defence dizzy, give their manager pause for thought & at the very least, get loads of set piece free kicks around the 18 yard line.

I think LvG will change formation. I expect a 4-4-2 with di Maria and Falcao both being given a chance to salvage their seasons.

    ------------ De Gea --------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Rojo-----Blind
    ------------ Carrick -------------
    --- Herrera----------ADM-------
    ---- Mata------------Young-----
    ------------ RvP---------------

Assuming Rooney is injured which will happen because we have rotten luck.

We will feck this one up also. Be a tight battle between us and Liverpool for 4th

Chelsea and Everton away are not games you 'feck up'. There's a high chance that any team in the league could go to either of those places and lose. It won't be the last time, no matter what form we're in.

This is a game that I'd say we should be winning though and if we do feck it up, I'll be worrying.

    -----------------------------De Gea

    --------Valencia----Smalling----Rojo----Shaw

    ------------------------------Blind (Carrick if fit)
    ----------------------Herrera----Fellaini

    -----------Mata------------------------------Young
    -----------------------------v.Persie (If Rooney is injured)

Important we get back on track here, 3 points is a must. West Brom will be difficult to break down which can be a problem for us, so I'd start Di Maria in this one. Hopefully Rooney is fit to play as we don't need to be any slower up top than we already are. I doubt Carrick will be ready unfortunately.

Going to be a very nerve racking game this, could be one the most important games of our season. 3 points is a must, praying Liverpool drops some points tonight at the KC

Really hope Rooney is not injured, otherwise I fear for United trying to score goals. I would assume LvG will have the defence back on their game after the Everton game, he wont allow that to carry on.

Falcao is simply shocking and RvP was in terrible form before his latest injury. Even if Rooney isn't scoring goals he creates space, holds the ball and gives Carrick etc somebody to aim balls at. If Rooney isn't playing I fear we'll be relying on RvP bumbling into a tap in after a mass shambles of mis-kicks etc in the penalty area.

    This and a comfortable victory
    ------------------De Gea

    ---Valencia----Smalling----Rojo----Shaw

    ---------------Blind (Carrick if fit)

    ---------------Herrera----Fellaini

    --Mata--------------------------------------Young
    --------------RVP (If Rooney is injured)

Players can be a lot more relaxed now Liverpool lost but lets go for 3 points and strongly to cement our CL position and possibly get the 3rd.

You can lose and it wouldn't make a difference we aren't catching you.

We should be looking towards finishing 2nd or 3rd now and a win here wouldn't do us any harm in reaching one of those goals.

Feck 4th. CL qualification could be a nightmare. We need to win our remaining games.

Yeah when your own manager says you were not up for the game at Everton w can say they fecked up.

Win this and its 7 points ahead with 9 to play for?

Absolutely must win game. Hopefully Everton will have snapped the team out of their complacency.

With top four firmly in the bag and Liverpool having gone tits up, it's not a must win game but it would be nice to end this losing shit.

Let Roo recover and start Di Maria. And no naive tactics this time.

You mean start Di Maria in place of Roo :)
    Wouldn't that be a naive tactic.. :)

I'm sure they'll be compact but we just need to batter them. If we get a chance to, why not shoot? At times we make the game much to complicated. Forget systems for a second. We've a better team. More often the better team wins. I don't really care how they come here, if we look to score goals we will score goals. If we look to overplay, like we have at times this season we will make them look like defensive Gods and we will create fewer chances then we should. At times we've had all the ball but created nothing. We need the right attitude and hopefully the game will be won early.

The people who think this ian't a must win game haven't herd about the rule changes to CL qualification.

Since Rooney is out with injury and Persie did pretty good at yesterdays match, I want him to start. Thanks to Hull who won against L'pool yesterday, but we still need to get the 3 points in this match. Anything else would be a huge dissapointment.

I think the ANSWER is only one of the three in 5th 6th and 7th want Europa League which is Southampton. Liverpool are playing crap can't score. Be interesting how they play out the end of the season

    7 point gap between 4th and 5th.

Basically meaning United only need to win 1 game out of the 4 remaining games for that top 4 spot that many people deemed to be a magnitude of a challange after the first phase of the competition. The sentiment i have sniffing around these threads is mainly the concern to play that qualifier if things stand as they are now. Hopefully the manager will instill that urge to the players to go guns out blazing and reach the maximum which is a top 3 position and secure a straight CL ticket without any hassle.

Win this and we go second. Great position to be in considering the last couple of results. I have a feeling City and Arsenal will both drop points to Spurs / Hull away.

Pretty sure the team will be:

    DDG

    Valencia -- Smalling -- CB -- Shaw

    -----------Blind-----------------

    ------Herrera------Fellaini--------

    Mata--------------------Di Maria

    ----------RVP-----------------

Which should be enough for a win. 2-0 RVP & Mata

You mean start Di Maria in place of Roo :)
    Wouldn't that be a naive tactic.. :)

No, I didn't mean that. Nice try at quick slag!

I meant, of course, sit Roo...unless he's fit. If he's short of fitness, sit him for a week to recover. I want him in top condition for Arsenal.

In Roo's place go with RvP, which I didn't think needed explanation here. It's a downshift from Wayne to Robin, but I don't see any other reasonable alternative.

I'd find a way to start Di Maria, which would come either at Young's or Mata's expense. Not Roo's. I love the job both Ashley and Juan have been doing of late but we've lost two back to back games and a tweak is in order.

Hopefully, that clears up that confusion.

I'm not sure who deserves to start after the Everton performance...

    de Gea
    Valencia Smalling McNair Shaw
    Blind*
    Herrera Fellaini
    Mata van Persie Young
    *Carrick if fit.

Thought De Gea was pretty poor at the weekend, maybe the rumours are getting to him but if I were Van Gaal I'd be tempted to start Valdes in his place:

    ------Valdes/De Gea
    Valencia -- Smalling -- Jones -- Shaw
    ----------- Carrick -------------
    ------ Herrera --- Mata/Fellaini
    --- Di Maria --- RvP ---- Young/Mata

Think Di Maria should be given an opportunity coming up to the end of the season, Top 4 is basically secured and it would be good if he can build some sort of confidence, hopefully go to the Copa America and have a good tournament then come back with us and push on, Rooney doesn't deserve to start based on his last performance and it seems like he may be injured anyway, Jones straight back in as long as he's fit and then 2 of Fellaini, Mata, Young to start. Hopefully we get an early goal and go on to batter them but I think it'll be a pretty tight game, go for 3-1 to us (RvP, Fellaini, Herrera - Berahino)

Keep De Gea especially with the transfer ban happening

    Please elaborate. Thanks!
Seeding has been removed from the qualifiers so we could face teams like Atletico/Valencia or Roma to qualify for the group stages. I don't know about you, but I don't want us having to beat teams like that to qualify to the group stages.

Lets be real. If we want to get out of the groups and have a run in the champions league we are going to have to beat good teams. So dont see why everyone is making such a fuss about it. All teams are tough in the Champions League
