I honestly cannot see how Man Utd win this game right now, hopefully they prove me wrong.
That's what this team have tended to do over the last couple of seasons isn't? Just when you can't see where the win is coming from they pull it out of the bag!

I can’t see them not scoring anyway for a start. So we will need at least two goals.

Hopefully all the up and down is just the team getting fit and used to each other but I think more so its Varane and Ronaldo still very much finding their feet and their team mates figuring out how to play with them.

We would be well advised to press like feck, match them for work rate and start off strong. They will punish us if we stand off

They have failed to score in 4 of their 6 La Liga games…

Although we are intent on not keeping clean sheets.

If a team has failed to score, failed to win or failed to even draw in x amount, you can always rely on United to oblige.

apparently our current run of non clean sheets is equal to our worst run since the 70s. If Villa looked like scoring easily and young boys could beat us then these can too.
We did get a clean sheet away at Wolves less than a month ago. But that was by some miracle.

Oh yes, how did I forget that? We should have conceded at least once in that. We are currently leaky as hell.

Edit it’s one clean sheet in the last 16 games, including 8 in a row which is our worst record stretching back to 1972

Need to win this since we lost the first one. Would be tragic not to get out of this group.

Its all doom and gloom right now, so this is usually when we pull a rabbit. Im going to say that we win this and make it look easy.
Exactly my feeling too. This United always wins the games before which people are clamoring that's it's going to be a disaster.
And Villarreal really isn't some fearsome opponent.

    De Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Varane Telles
    Matic Pogba
    Bruno
    Greenwood Cavani Sancho

I'd rest Ronaldo for this. Leave him on the bench of course. Tough game v Everton Saturday afternoon and dont think he should start both.

This has 0-0 written all over it

yep, 4 of the 5 times we've played them it's been 0-0 and the other was obviously the 1-1 penalty shootout

Cant wait for the 3rd game in a row where we fail to score a goal and to be on 1 point and bottom of the group after 2 games while Atalanta will likely be on 4 and the Young Boys on 3

We usually put on a display when it looks like the pressure is on, so here's to hoping for some more of that tomorrow. A loss would be pretty bad for our qualification hopes, and Ole obviously knows this. It's going to be tough, but I feel he might get this one right.

The laws of probability must be in our favour for this game. I'm pretty sure we can't slip up again with the team we have.

Can't wait to see another epic Ole overly defensive "masterclass"

Cavani, Lingard, and Greenwood to come late on as we desperately push for a goal.

    0-0

We have no reason to be confident of a win, but we might just nick a late goal to break a 0-0 score late in the game.

A must-win game, but mostly likely to come away with a draw. The way we play, I don't have any confidence of a win no matter who we play. There will be days where we thrash a team, but those are rare occasions.
The way we play, we need a hell of a lot of things to go in our favour to win a game. I cannot see a win here.

They dont have the pace to hurt us if we play a high line. We should box them in and apply pressure until we get a couple of goals. If we defend deep, they can snatch a goal. I'm going for 1-1.

I am certain that we will not start strongly, allow them to grow in confidence and score. We will get a goal back but it wont be enough. cavani come on unusually early in the 75th min and has a decent header saved which is our best chance in the closing stages.

    This is so oddly specific.

Agree. So oddly specific and yet you can totally see it playing out like that. Ole naturally cautious defending deep. Them growing in confidence as they control the ball. A mistake from us then us chasing the game. The missing a stack of golden chances, giving us heart attacks until we equalize. 1-1 and off with his head. You heard it there first!

They are 11th in La Liga
Unbeaten in all their competitive games this season so far. They're struggling with scoring to win games, but they're very hard to beat. After losing to Young Boys, we're in more desperate situation to win this home game, which may play into Villarreal hand.

This has a goalless draw written all over it. Villareal are well drilled defensively and it will be difficult for us to crack them. We need to put them under real pressure from the start, otherwise they will get what they want. Smash them and our confidence is back, drop points and we are under more pressure in the coming weeks. Knowing Ole, it is very likely to be a borefest. Hope he proves me totally wrong.

I think you're wrong. I think Cavani will come on in the 72nd minute

Have zero faith in our manager's approach and style of play, so I guess we got to rely on a bit of individual brilliance to win this. We might sneak a tight affair 2-1, but if I was betting man I'd say 1-1.

Fail to win and I think we are in trouble.
Sad part is I think Emery has Ole's number.

I can't believe with the team we're likely to put out I'm worried if we'll score, that's bleak.

It looks setup perfectly for a tumescent draw to me.
