Just go for it Ole. Must win game. Mason-Ronaldo-Sancho front line. With Sancho on the right.
It doesn’t Matter who he plays up front, it’s the make up of the team and slow build up that kills us.

Dropping a couple of yards back when the opposition have the ball, instead of moving up a couple of yards and pressing them instead would make a huge difference. But Ole hasn’t got it in his make up and would rather play safe. Playing this way gives the opposition confidence and then it’s hard for Utd to get any momentum.

It happens every game and Utd have to rely on individual moments rather than a great team performance.

Our defense has looked shaky and with not much protection from our midfield. With AWB suspended, and Maguire and Shaw injured I can't imagine it will look better. Dalot and Telles are major weaknesses regarding the defensive side compared to AWB and Shaw. Although Villarreal didn't seem that interested to attack the last time we met, that may be our chance, to sneak a 1-0 win.

Solid, hardworking teams are our kryptonite. Unfortunately for us, both Villareal and Atalanta are such teams.

Assuming Shaw and Maguire don't make it. They're among our most important players, but they've been out of form lately.

Let VDB sink or swim. He's been half decent in his last four starts and we'll never control the midfield with McTominay.

I see us getting a hard fought draw, Ole and the lads will give it their mighty all. It's all about fighting for the team, fighting for the boys.

They just drew away to a full strength Madrid team. They had more of the ball as well. This is going to be tough without three of our first choice back four.

Its all doom and gloom right now, so this is usually when we pull a rabbit. Im going to say that we win this and make it look easy.

Some of you are dreaming if you think this is Ole's last game.
It won’t be his last game of course. But if they don’t qualify from this group then I struggle to see the man in charge in 2022/23. I think it’s a huge game for his future.

I think we’re due a few goals. We always concede. 4-1

I honestly feel the writing is now on the wall for Ole, just that wall extends to the end of this season. So I would agree that there is likely to be a new manager next season, but it will be Ole this season.

It won't be his last game but could be beginning of the end for him if he loses here, The next 2 months are pretty difficult in pl with games against Atlanta in cl. We could easily be out of cl and out of a pl title race by early December.

I sense an undercurrent of hope we lose so Ole is given the boot.

I think it's only possible that Ole is sacked in December/January or at the end of the season. The former of which I think is highly unlikely.

Ultimately, the jury is still out on what the board considers the minimum for him to continue. We've sacked managers when they didn't get top 4 in most cases except Mourinho who had fallen out with everyone and was highly unlikely to get top 4. Van GAAL'S fate similarly sealed when he didn't get top 4 but was allowed to go out on a high with the FA Cup final.

Seeing as Ole is well-liked by everyone at the club I think he will be given until the end of the season and probably allowed another season if he gets 4th place and no trophies.

With all that said, what worries me more is whether there will be a proper replacement process. People can throw around names but this isn't football manager. Zidane is great on paper and he'd be top if my list but bringing in new personnel and getting instant success isn't something that happens automatically.

Yup. He's here until the end of the season barring a really horrible next 2 or 3 months. He deserves a chance to show what he can do with this squad, but the early signs are far from promising.

I fancy Ole to follow his usual trajectory since he arrived, and pull out two wins against Villarreal and Everton.

Bad feeling about this one. Would Ole survive in his job if he didn't make the knock out stages?

    Dalot - Varane - Lindelof - Telles
    VDB - Matic

Really need to turn it on and hit back in this one.

One because I'm there, two because we could be heading for the Europa sharpish if we bungle this one.

If we lose this I think the fanbase may well just implode,

I also think the media will come down heavy on Ole and if you Think it’s been bad this week ooft a loss again Villarreal will really test the nerves, can’t lie I am very worried for this match, I just can’t see a comfortable win considering our history against this team.

Is anyone even looking forward to this ?
We know exactly what is going to happen

Just win. For the love of god just fecking win. The football will be terrible as it almost always is, but I can’t bare another season in the Europa. Hopefully Ole breaks away from his McFred safety blanket & actually puts some creativity in the middle.

    They will outplay us.
Every half decent well drilled side outplays us. Nothing new.

TBH, I'm not really that nervous about CL group games at the moment. We won't win the tournament, so if we get through the group it's 'good' but we'll likely get knocked out by some of the stronger teams. If we finish 3rd it's 'bad', but we'll drop into a competition we have a more likely chance of winning. The only thing I don't want is to finish 4th - which is why I was particularly gutted by the last minute loss to Young Boys.

We usually struggle to score against Villareal, and we go into the game with a potentially very weakened defence and we need McFred to try to protect it. A 3rd consecutive 1-0 defeat is a real possibility. :(
