Basically everything we want Sancho to be
Sancho has two, sometimes even three defenders on him, this chap has Dalot one on one. Greenwood pretends to track back and McTominay is trying to cover for Pogba and Bruno. I'd fancy myself playing on the left for Villareal vs United.

With the fixtures we have coming up, I fear we are going to be on the wrong end of a right drubbing against someone.

We need Pogba in the centre for his passing tbh.

Only one out of him McT and Bruno to do anything

Though I'm not saying he was great just slightly better
Pogba is utterly useless in the centre. He avoids his responsibility of running the game and disappears. He does none of the most important aspects of being a CM.

Ronaldo is not that great a striker for me and its effecting the way our team play.

We need Cavani on or Greenwood upfront.

Our one best chance and he completely couldn't make a simple pass.

Everyone has turned to Stoke because they think he gets on the end of crosses.

Yes. He is slowing down our play, just can't pass (has never really been able to) and he doesn't have the physical advantage to create chances for himself any more.

We are absolutely clueless. Pogba Bruno Greenwood Sancho, what more could you ask for? Complete lack of any sort of cohesion or intent. Barely europa league standard.
u even forgot ronaldo. Absolutely ridiculous how pathetic we are going forward. with the talent we have.

Matic/Vdb/Carrick I don't care just not Mcsus anymore... I really can't stand watching him play anymore I really can't

To be fair could just go down to 10 and remove our CM, it would result in the same thing.

(but in all seriousness, Matic and VDB won’t be a solution). Although VDB deserves a chance.

Never have been on the Ole out bandwagon, but it's starting to look like he's taking the club as far as he can. we look lost out there, players must take blame as well but there doesn't seem to be a definitive game plan or direction.

Why are we not trying short corners? Everytime we have a cornes it is more of a opportunity for the other team for a counter.

This was my highlight so far to be honest

I know Villarreal are keeping it thight at the back and all, but does it annoy anyone when Ronaldo drifts wide or drops too much, he crowds our LW area and then no one in the box to aim at.

I came here to see if everyone is seeing what I am and yep Im not tripping on 5 grams of acid

We don't have a midfield and we have accepted it. McT is stationed between their two forwards giving the defense no option while Pogba looks like he's playing LM/AM. Just stick Bruno at CM if Pogba will be so far ahead. The only strategy, if you can call it that, is to have our defenders ping balls over the top for our forwards to do something. That requires a near perfect ball to be effective and so far we haven't had one yet.

What makes me mad is our pressing, or lack of it. Villareal are clearly not very comfortable at playing it out from the back but we don't press collectively at all. Dalot and Telles are so afraid of getting caught out that they don't cross the halfway line when out of possession. With no pressure, Villareal can simply make some straightforward passes through the wings and they are in our box as the midfield doesn't exist. Our players simply aren't working hard enough.

Ole needs to make a big call here. Pogba doesn't belong in a midfield two and Sancho has done well enough to remain. Take him off for Fred/Matic/VdB and get some control in midfield. Or take Ronaldo off and move Pogba to LM, Greenwood at ST and Sancho at RW. Something needs to change or all of DDG's heroics will be in vain.

De Gea the best player on the pitch today. Sancho and Bruno have done ok.
Pogba needs to sit back and build up play from midfield rather than playing like a striker.

We are completely wasting time under Ole, I reckon he'll be gone by the summer by that time hopefully we'll had classified to the UCL but well have an older Cristiano and possibly be without Cavani and Pogba.

Dont worry "we'll dust ourselves down and have a reaction in the next match" probably
Nope we won't because everybody figured us out: we have no midfield in defense and we are unable to defend as a team. So, all they need to do is keep pressing us and they will break us, guaranteed.

    Lessons so far:

Dalot is simply not good enough. Feel for the lad. Telles isn't either, but we already knew that. The simplicity with which both are turned and passed is baffling.

Pogba should not play in midfield against a counter attacking team, especially in a 4-3-3. His losses of possession hurt too much.

Dave is back with a bang. Loving that.

Sancho had his best game for us so far. Looked up for it.

McSauce does not look properly fit by any means.

We have to acknowledge that using Ronaldo is also hurting us (besides the way I can imagine it affects Cavani per se). There were several instances where their CBs were allowed a lot of time to pass between the lines where Cavani would undoubtedly have pressed them.
Didn’t see Pogba play in the middle to be honest. He is very advanced.

Sancho is better but still lazy. Once he tracked back, didn’t get the ball and just stopped and let Dalot in a 2 against 1. If I was Dalot, I would have punched the guy.

Wow, this is a hard watch. They are just drawing us in and picking us off on the break. They should have had 4 or 5. The lack of being able to win the ball back when they are trotting through our team is a big worry. I'm not saying we should be bringing Fred on, but he does get a tackle in. People saying we need Cavani on. It's not the strikers that are the problem, it's the distribution into them. We still cannot get in behind them, or thread balls through them. We need Donny and Matic on. And maybe Lingard to keep the ball moving and dragging their players out of position to create space.

We are blaming Ronaldo but he hasn't had any decent service. Greenwood has done nothing so far. Pogba going missing.

Giant holes defensively. Of course Pogba as a cm has to press forward and get left upfield leaving massive space behind :wenger: That should be simple tactics for Ole not to do, really.

After the Europa League final and this first half I am not confident if we need to go to their place and win. We've got to win this one.
