I see 0-3 or worse. Can anyone out there properly rationalise why I might be wrong?

Would a draw be a good result given our recent performances? I just can’t see us winning
There is no "given decent performances". If Ten Hag doesn't start playing well and winning, he will be sacked. That's all there is to it. "Decent draws" will get him sacked in a month. The time when you could take a draw because we're in poor form is long past.

He said recent, not decent. Regardless, agreed - the only good result here is a good win.

Our players might give us 10/10 performance, highly unlikely but it might happen.

A loss is the most likely outcome if our players don't give it 100%.

It's time to judge Ten Hag. He now has the tools and players to succeed at a top 4 level.

The Spurs and Aston Villa games are the measuring stick. If we don't take 4 points from the two games, I'll change to Ten Hag out.

Only Shaw is out now. He has to get results with this squad now.

If he doesn't win both, 100% needs to go. Not even a debate at that point.

Spurs will come with a plan to blow United away quickly. They know we can't score for shit so if they go a couple of goals up early on it's game won. Opposition players must get a great nights sleep before games against this lot.

We've played reasonably well, but we cannot score. This game goes one of two ways: Either Spurs' super high line makes our attack look good, or it goes like the Liverpool game with us being embarrassed and unable to deal with their press. Not sure what is more likely.

This could be one of those early season deciders. Win and we've a chance of kicking on (though we always say that) but lose and it's one of those seasons we've all seen a few times in the last decade

I see 0-3 or worse. Can anyone out there properly rationalise why I might be wrong?
Our first choice defense is pretty good now, and we've a good DM as well. I don't see us conceding 3.

Very important game. Ange ball is the best thing since sliced bread and Ten Hag wouldn't even make it as a PE coach if we go by certain posters. So I'm sure certain segments expect us to get thrashed.

Im also sure some want us to get thrashed.

Just hope it clicks offensively and Bruno plays well. Would also like to see zirkzee with hojlund at some point.

I think we are a good win away , with a couple of goalscorerers, from going on a solid run. Finish our chances today and I’d be confident we will win.

Even if we play very well, outcreate the opponent whilst keeping it tight enough at the back, and still draw - wel have the regulars coming out with pitchforks.

And even if we win some posters have decided its not great. Before a ball is kicked. It's quite something to witness.

We may concede 1 the question is can we score 2. That’s our main issue.
Defence has improved from last year. Attack hasn’t.

Liverpool aside, we haven’t conceded many. Our issue is, as most people predicted, that we can’t score.

I don’t think we let in more than 2

Given ETHs comments about wanting to control the game, I expect us to line up like this. And I'm concerned...

    Zirkzee
    Rashford...Bruno...Amad
    Mainoo...Eriksen
    Dalot...Martinez...De Ligt...Mazraoui
    Onana
Either we manage to control the game or we're completely over run. Fingers crossed

The fa cup win was the worst for that sort of stuff. I really enjoyed that, possibly moreso than anything since SAF retired. Not just winning but outplaying city in a massive game. Haven’t seen that really since SAF, the odd smash and grab but not a full on solid performance in a big game where we win a trophy against arguably a top 3 club in the world.

Football is about the highs and lows. Only one team can win the league or European cup. United have NEVER once been close to either since SAF retired. People act like ETH took over a club challanging for leagues , probably closer to slot getting Liverpool in such a healthy state. But they completely ignore the dysfunctional mess our club has been for over a decade.

We can’t overspend anymore, the advantage we used to have over most clubs has eroded a lot. The competition for top 4 is more difficult then it was 10 years ago. Theres no argument we can make , with or without a different manager, that the club should be above the current top 4 by any sort of right.

Football has moved on a lot and many United fans are stuck thinking we are still a super power that can laud it over the rest in England. That’s not the case and the wastage under the glazers has allowed the pack to overtake us.

We are possibly now , under INEO, at a stage when arsenal were finally starting to move on from Wenger and take a longer term redirection that meant things got a bit worse for them before it improved.

I'm going to my first game at Old Trafford after a 52 year wait and I'm getting some fish and chips at Lou Macari's first. Surely, that must count for something.

Our defence has looked more solid this season with the addition of de Ligt, and hopefully Ugarte will make it more difficult to play through our midfield. The Liverpool game aside, I don't think we'll be conceding 3s and 4s with such alarming regularity as we did last season. So I don't think Spurs will score 3.

I think due to the way Spurs play we'll create chances and the other end but we don't have the quality to take them. I'm predicting 1-1.

Sorry, but when we were in our pomp, we didn't particularly overspend. Blackburn and newcastle had wealthy benefactors followed by Abramovich, Abu Dhabi and their franchises.

Other clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal could spend high sums, and did.

Fact is we have been mismanaged for well over a decade, in executive roles especially.

Spurs at home under Ten Hag 22/23 was the best 90min performance United have come up with in the last decade. Hope for a repeat today.

I dunno where the goals are going to come from, from Utd’s side anyway. We need to find our finishing boots and fast. If these lot can’t find the back of the net with Ruud coaching them then there’s no hope.

In our pomp there was usually only one real rival. Blackburn and Newcastle were around for a couple of years. Chelsea , city and Liverpool are established top 4 , top European clubs for over 10-20 years now. They are more established as strong clubs then United. It’s a surprise if these 3 are not in the top 4.

That’s entirely different from Newcastle, Blackburns fleeting resurgence. Even when United and Arsenal were battling it out, there was no other meaningful contender or strong teams like there is at the top now.

United could outspend if they needed to. Like you said , we quite often didn’t need to cause Ferguson was so good at having a smooth squad management system. But under Woodward our spending and ridiculous spending wage offers was really the only “unique” thing we could offer players. Now that’s gone and other clubs are in far better positions then us to be at the top of the table.

Pretty much expecting the following team from ETH:

    Onana

Mazraoui - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot

    Eriksen - Mainoo

    Garnacho - B.Fernandes - Rashford

    Zirkzee
subs: Bayindir, Maguire, Evans, Casemiro, Ugarte, Mount, Amad, Antony, Hojlund

score prediction - Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Good shout there, I’d take that.

Ericson has probably one or two more good games based on his 6-8 game form guide.

Big game on a big stage against a big team, away from home.

Man United 3-0 Tottenham. Don’t know why so many United fans are worried about this one.

First start for Ugarte? Need someone to break up play here.
