We're at home against a Spurs side without their best player and only real recognised goalscorer.

We should attack with positivity and go for the throat. Let's see.

Dier instead of Sánchez in Spurs is interesting, considering how Mourinho targeted him in the Europa League final. So much for the ball playing center centerback…

Spurs look absolutely toothless upfront. We need to put the hammer down from minute one, push their mids back and isolate their "non striker, striker".

Huge game for Herrera,Matic,Mkhi to stamp some authority on this game.

I wouldn't worry about this guy. He'll be the first name on the team sheet apart from DDG:drool:

3 5 2 Formation. Great I always wanted Mourinio to try it out.

Well done for annihilating the LVG years from your memory. I'm hoping they fade from mine too soon.

We have had some amazing games against Spurs though.
What? Under LVG we beat Spurs at home twice including a 3-0. We also lost away 3-0. I can't say there was a boring match in there

This would be such a great game to fecking win.

I'm being that guy but does anyone have a stream active right now for the pre match build up?

Huge game for the likes of herrera and mkhi. They really need to show what they can bring in games like this.

Herrera through ball for mkhi's goal was crucial last year. We have to get it right from minute one.

Spurs are basically playing 4-6-0, we have to capitalise.

I'm struggling to picture that. Can you show that as a formation? Have they done this before?

    LLoris
    Aurier Verthongen Alderweireld Davies
    Dier Winks
    Eriksen Alli Sissoko
    Son

They started the season with a similar formation. It could be Dier down as a central defender, but I do think Sissoko will play further forward. Eriksen and Sissoko will come in more centrally with Aurier and Davies getting forward a lot. Dier and Winks will cover the midfield I think with Dier you can say almost like a 3 central defender.

It can easily be Dier in just for Sanchez, but I do think Sanchez has played very well so seem strange to drop him if they play with 3 central defenders. For them to go back to the 4-2-3-1 they have played earlier this season make more sense since they lack Kane and want more players up front to get into attacking areas.

Also Pochettino should know that Mourinho often prepare his teams to stop the other team. A formation change could surprise us and give them some advantage.

9/11 on team selection and I say we win 2-1 with the nerviest ending ever.

We know what Herrera can bring. He demonstrated as such last season in these games. Mkhitaryan is out of form and needs a big performance, mind you.

But I'm more interested in seeing what Mourinho brings. Does he take the game to Spurs at home without their best player? Or does he play for a clean sheet and the point?

Away days at Anfield are only justified with home wins against our rivals.

For once, hope this is a 3-4-3 with Mkhitaryan on the right, otherwise the guy's going to get drowned on the opponent's midfield.

Our left back is in the starting line-up right now...and he's playing as a wing back if we set out with 3 at the back.
Damn! I still think of Young as our left winger. But, unless Jose is deploying Jones as a holding midfielder, a back 4 does not make sense with the players selected.

I really don't understand the thinking behind this. The manager will have planned for this in order to get a clean sheet and a win.

Just because you play compact doesnt mean you are playing for the draw.

There are many different ways to win, you don't have to be the more attacking team to have a better chance to win.

This is 5-3-2. Can smell it.

Lukaku and Rashford up top. Three in the middle with full backs on defensive duties.

He won't go with a two man midfield

Please no. I'm not a fan of condescending posts. If you have a problem with a post of mine it's fine, but there's no need for it.

Ahhh thanks for the clarification! More attacking than the 3-5-2 I saw.

We played for a draw at Anfield and got it. This tactic is justified by playing for the win at home. I expect a win today and a positive performance at that. If this doesn't happen then we have problems.

I did say I had no problems with the lineup due to the injuries we have. I'm just not the biggest fan of how we go about using the 3 at the back system is all.

What a defensive line up. Why can't we play an attacking game at home? Everyone knew that Jose would defend even before the start of the match.

An agitated Jose in the interview there. He's absolutely right as well.
