The 3-5-2 is shite end of, I hope we get the signings to move away from it as soon as possible

Nothing to do with the system.
We play like we did last season though. It should be a system to bring the best out of our numbe 10 and the 2 strikers, yet we keep banging the balls out wide or hoof them forward.

    It's tiring.

Have we had any shots on target?

Yes. Very tame shot from distance from Rooney, weak header from Rooney, Mata's freekick straight at the keeper and Jones' cross which turned into a shot. Might have been others I've forgotten.

Herrera looks like he's playing alone in that midfield.

Herrerra's got to come off for me, liability. Get Nani on, swap put Adnan central and bring Mata in CM.

Still think we'll be alight and I can see Swansea picking up a few more cards 2nd half.
Liability? He's been our best player.

I assume LVG wasn't planning on getting his tallywacker out this early in the season but needs must. We need a boost in the second half and maybe even an early goal too.

We've looked fierce dodgy looking at the back, midfield hardly involved at all and when ever the attacking players did get the ball there seemed to be a lack of understanding or something between them going on, no bite or conviction in the attacks at all. Set pieces have been woeful as well. Swansea keeper easily getting to a lot of them.

It's not the fact that we're losing, but that we can barely create a clear chance at goal against fecking Swansea.
We have no creativity. Defence other than Blackett look lost. Far to many passengers Mata, Rooney,Herrera to name 3. Van Gaals half time talk will have to be good

I'd be tempted to get Keane/James on, four at the back, mata herrera and fletcher in midfield and a front three of Nani Rooney and Januzaj.

Swansea are too compact for the 3-5-2 and Hernandez isn't really doing anything. Could easily take Mata off but as the no.10 he has to rely on people looking to get to ball to his feet but even when in space the players behind him are playing safe football.

The defence seems incapable of getting the ball to the midfield. And even when they do Fletcher seems determined to give it away.

That was pretty terrible, I have to say. Can't say that I think anyone's done particularly well. Smalling and Blackett (and Lingard when he was on) were probably the best. Januzaj has done well since coming on also. Creativity is embarrassingly absent. Nothing positive imo. Terrible performance and we don't look like creating anything. Massive improvement needed.

When the team has played this kind of boring slow football for several years it will take a while to snap them out of it. Some of the players out there aren't good enough. The defence are too scared to pass the ball to a midfielder.

Young had a great amount of space a few times during the first half yet we decide to keep the ball on the right.

Last season I would have been really down in the dumps at this stage, now I am hopeful that LVG can make a diffrence, we look a bit toothless but we look like a football side at least.

    Blimey.

Maybe this is just the subtle way of Van Gaal telling and explaing the club that we must sign new players?

An average first half, the goal makes it look a lot worse than it actually was. Honestly, the same problems have dogged us since the preseason: passing the ball from the back and defending wide men on counter-attacks (especially the latter). I was hardly surprised when Swansea scored, could see it developing from a mile away. The passing has been off from really everyone; we are missing that one pass to finish unlocking the defence.

If you'd told me that was a game from last season I wouldn't have questioned it. Other than why Moyes appears to have cracked up and put 3 at the back but that's about it.

The defence look like they've only just met. Individually OK but collectively and positionally just poor.

The attack look like they're waiting for RvP or maybe Welbeck to come on.

Second half to go. Come on you reds.

Herrera is a great player, but he's not looking strong enough physically to play in a midfield two in the premiership.

So essentially you are saying that you want Moyes back, based on the first competitive 45 mins under LVG?

Anyone else really disappointed in Mata? He just seems invisible. I expect more from the clubs record signing.

I guess I was the only one that thinks Herrera had a decent half and Januzaj has looked strong. I think Nani will come on for Hernandez and play at RWB with Januzaj moving up top with Rooney.

Thought Herrera was very poor. Adnan's done well since coming on.

The defence has been decent , Midfield is non existent and the front three are invisible. The only change right now we can make to the front three without a considerable drop in quality is Kagawa for Mata.

Holy feck our squad looks thin.

Gark Lineker has tweeted 'Bring Back Moyes' apparently. What a tit, just like the rest of the BBC sports team.
So much for the 'easy' start to the season.

The wingbacks don't look comfortable and Jones has been fecking wank. Don't get me started on Rooney, Fletch and Mata. All big players that haven't stepped up.

As others have said, it's no wonder our central players are being rubbish when we insist on playing the ball out to the flanks and then either crossing it to nobody or playing a pass 20 yards back to the midfielders who will then do the same thing.

Swansea are packing the no 10 area and we aren't moving enough to disrupt the players marking the area, need to get some movement into that area from our wide players.
