Mourinho explains why Carrick will be sitting on the bench this afternoon
He’s not a substitute but Carrick will be on the bench this afternoon, here’s what Mourinho has told MUTV:

It’s only for next season really but, this season, he is already coming and sharing a little bit of our space.

“We are opening the door for him to not have a difficult transition next season. So, this season, he’s doing little things.

“He is learning, not the football of course, but the other side of the life and I think it’s a good experience for him until the end of the season. Maybe, in three or four matches, it’s another experience for him to share the bench from a different perspective.”

My intention wasn't to draw comparisons between Rashford and Martial's overall gametime since the signing of Sancez, or their respective performance levels during that period, I was actually referring to their gametime in their preferred position on the pitch. Martial has been shunted over to the right in order to make Sanchez' transitional period that much easier, which would be fine if the latter happened to be performing at a level that would justify that decision, yet he clearly has not.

You cannot deny the signing of Sanchez has been detrimental to Martial's progression.
