Why Carrick? Blind has been good and probably more positive in his running this half than Carrick has ever been. We need quality further up top.

Because Carrick is our best passer and will pick out the likes of Young and Di Maria early and give them a chance 1v1

DeMaria is just goind through a bad form.. We can already see he looks lethal when we move the ball fast.. We are playing good...
I am positive about how we have been playing today.. Hope we play like this away too..
    So is Di Maria.

Lump it up to the big lad. Young and si Maria wide. When a side is this broken we can't be too proud. We create chances with Fellaini being a nuisance. Sad but true.

Ok Di Maria is playing shit but for feck sake some people are so fickle. The guy is class we need to chill out and support the guy.

I feel we dont have a player that can switch play.. good on passing long.. Carrick is not there. No wonder we played Rooney in midfield a lot.. So many times today we had players in promising positions and couldnt pass long.. switch plays..

If Fellaini comes in and we change to direct long balls to him after playing some good passing play in that half, especially from wide areas....then I will scream. We should build on the positives from the first half. Not buckle and throw Fellaini uptop Ala Crouch.

He's been all sideways this season Carrick. I think we're more likely to break down a parked team with Blind than Carrick, but that's just me.

Di Maria, you shit head. Never worth £60m. Said it at the time and was castrated for it but I was astounded how his fee kept going up from £30 odd million when we were first linked all the way up to what we eventually paid for him.

ADM has been played out of position for most of the season. He's just not a right winger.

Been an alright first half. Gave away some small chances but had the biggest ourselves. Hard to break down Sunderland, but I'm confident we'll do them in the 2nd half.

Young, Blind and Smalling were great. Di Maria very wastefull, Falcao almost invisible. Evans has been OK except for when it comes to defending..

We wont achieve anything until we have a CB that can play football with 2 feet. Without that we are too slow.

Pretty depressing/bizarre that Young and Valencia seem to be our most effective creative outlets often these days. Even after spending all that money those two look more likely to produce a telling ball than the others. Young is trying really hard and looks like the only player likely to beat a defender any time soon.
I'm kind of relieved that RVP is out because no doubt we would be witnessing yet another ineffective performance from him also. Hopefully we will come up with something in the 2nd half but we're seriously lacking in attack so far.

I commend those who can find any positives.

But for me this is terrible. It's almost March and the team are still playing like they've only just met. It's horribly disjointed and the two 'big names' are by far our worst players and have been for most of the season.

I can't see any improvement. I'm still confused as to what the whole style of play is supposed to be, except aimlessly keep the ball above all else.

If we get top 4 then so be it the tactics have worked. But if we don't then serious questions need to be asked.

Di Maria coming off apparently. Can't really argue with it, good to see Van Gaal has no time for performances like that.

    Substitution for Manchester United

    Half-time change.
How many good seasons did Di Maria have before he joined us?

I can only speak from his time at Benfica but he didn't ever looked that much to me (his numbers in what was a rather weak league speak for themselves). He always showed something brilliant here and there, but his consistency was always very bad. I was incredibly surprised by what he seemed to have become last season. I think only time would tell if he briefly peaked at Real Madrid, or if he indeed transformed into a superior player, but I think we can't exclude the possibility he's not really meant to be bracketed World Class and just had a perfect season where he performed above expectations.

In these situations I always think of Gabriel Millito when Inter won the CL. If that was all we'd seen of him, he would be a World Class player in our memories, but certainly few will look at his career under that light.
