Ashley Young has been miles ahead of Di Maria this seasonJanuzaj for Falcao. Young Left, Adnan right and ADM #10 behind RooneyRooney deserves to be getting more stick, he looks completely impotent.So, is it Van Gaal's tactics stopping Di Maria from making the right decisions and taking on his man? This match gives the answer, because Young, an inferior playing has been doing just that with more frequency and accuracy. Di Maria needs to take a long hard look at himself.A lot of decent performances in defence and midfield, being negated by woeful decision making in the final third and anonymous contribution from Falcao (again).

I never thought the day would come, especially after last season, I would rather have Ashley Young in the starting 11 instead of Di Maria. Is that how good Ashley has been or crap of Di Maria we have just seen.Yanks commentators hammering United.. what has the team come to..Herrera was decent, so were Young and Smalling. We look very very vulnerable against counters. The thing is while attacking most of our players stay behind the ball, however, one through ball and we are left naked. LvG needs to address this. Collective defending is not good, we look too safe and to bent on keeping the ball, so when we lose it we look quite shaky.

We need Carrick badly.possession is important.....if you do something with it in the final third...Di Maria is in such poor form, it really affect his decision making
Herrera is class, Young is in great form and Evans, Smalling and Rojo are playing well too. Pity they are not the players were the goals are supposed to be coming from...Falcao the invisible man this halfPositives are Herrera and Young plus as the half progressed we got better.Another forgettable first half. I think we'll score early in the 2nd and they'll level late on. 1-1Fairly typical of our performances so far this season, lot of possession but not much else. The passing I thought looked a bit quicker at times though tbf. Falcao has looked poor again (but maybe should have had a penalty), and Di Maria has been wasteful. Why Carrick? Blind has been good and probably more positive in his running this half than Carrick has ever been. We need quality further up top.Di Maria does not justify 59p never mind 59m, Smalling has been good Young has been average if he would only look up before he crosses it. Counts for nothing.We've grown into the game, but the decision in the final third is awful. Young has been our most threatening player in the final third. Never thought I'd be saying with him being part of a front four with Di Maria, Rooney and Falcao.
As the commentators said, our wingers need to start wide. Stretch Sunderland, then they can cut in with our full backs overlapping and creating a 2v1. I'd change a few personnel, but it'll come.First 10 minutes were a nightmare. The rest of the half has got better and better though. Sunderland look to be tiring.
However a lot of games have gone the same way this season and ended in us dropping points...Young, Rooney and Herrera are the only ones in the front 6 playing with any urgency or passion. There are too many passengers in this side.
Get Di Maria off for Januzaj.As much as I did not think ADM or Falcao would be the world class stars they were before I never imagined both would be this poor. Falcao tries but he awful, but I cant help but feel ADM isn't doing enough.
Absolutely, as long as he's playing like he has anyway.There doesn't seem to be any reason at all to play Falcao at the moment. He's not very good at keeping the ball and he's never in dangerous areas. Get Wilson on instead, or play Rooney as lone front man and put Mata or Januzaj on.
Overall, better than what we've seen recently. We're still failing to make possession count, but we seem to at least have pushed the ball 10-20 yards up the pitch so instead of passing it between defenders it's our midfielders that are passing it around. Young our best player by far so far.
Well despite being inconsistent he was a starter under Mourinho and Mourinho actually kept moaning/claiming in interviews how he needs Di Maria back asap everytime he was out injured.
I wasn't sure, to be honest, but if we lose today...then I reckon most of those who believed in a top four position will no longer do soUnleash the Mata. At least you've got a guaranteed poacher on the rebounds.Wilson on for Falcao and Januzaj on for Di Maria.- Status
