Amazing Is'nt it you would think the rest must be either blind or cannot pass.
Schweinsteiger has disappointed, Schneiderlin's range of passing really isn't anything to write home about (decent over short distances, but crap at long through-balls). So yeah, it's pretty much down to Carrick to create from deep as Herrera is not that kind of player (don't honestly know what his best position is, but it certainly isn't as a deep-lying play-maker).

It occurs to me that Fellaini is only in the team to do parts of Blind's job because Blind is too small to play at centreback, while Blind is in the team to do parts of Fellaini's job because Fellaini is so shite at passing. So we have two people who can't do their job in the team but it's ok because they're both only there to cover the other one.

That's the kind of idiotic logic that goes through Van Gaal's brain and convinces itself it's genius rather than the thought process of a moron.

Wow. Great insight, this. What if we just had a quality central defender and a quality midfielder? Neither would be required.

Fellaini starting = no centre midfield
Darmian starting = no attacks on the right
    Mata starting = sideways passing

It's going to be a long night.

    This may get us 1-0, 1-1, 0-0.
That LVG's target in every game.

Stay positive guys, Fellaini might stumble and hurt himself enough to not be able to play today.
I don't want him to really hurt himself, just like... a papercut from a straw on the leg, or something.
And then LvG plays Schneiderlin and Herrera/Carrick, and finds out it's ALOT better, and Fellaini gets sold to Milan for 17 million pounds in the summer.

I remember Moyes doing this, the "false 5", was playing Carrick at CB, but on set pieces and heavy defending, him and Fellaini would switch position.

    Good times.

    Subs:
    Mata for Herrera
    Carrick for Schneiderlin

Regardless of the score or pattern of the game. Third sub will involve messing around with whichever part of our team looks the least ineffective. So probably Januzaj for one of the fullbacks or something.

It's about time he played a game like this again.

Unbelievable really. He virtually won every aerial challenge. few against Vidic too. If anything I think Fellaini has been playing within himself since he came here.

To be fair to him the ref seems to blow up against him any time he goes up for a header these days.

Definitely a must-win but Stoke aren't an easy team to break down.

We've got to be very patient.
