I just don't get it. Yes we were very uncomfortable at the end and that's something we need to work on but we weren't by any means terrible. Tired towards the end perhaps but not terrible. It all comes down to taking earlier chances when they come but that's for another time.
That's exactly right. We played well and kept the ball comfortably until the last 7-8 minutes. We will be working on that, but by no means does it warrant the inevitable moaning by some disastrously inept idiots around here. There's no point arguing with them because it's hyperbolism climaxed in their heads.

It's hard to judge us at the minute but it doesn't matter when you pick up the points. I just feel watching up, sometimes we lack a genius. We would create more if we bothered to get the ball in the box more and try to quicken the passing but maybe we're being smart. At least we're getting the points and getting a bit of fortune in the process.

Nonsense! We were unlucky not scoring two more today. Fallaini himself had two clear chances (one near post was saved) on each half and Wilson should have scored or let RvP score on second half.

As unlucky as stoke not scoring 2 towards the end of the match through Diouf, one of which was cleared off the line by smashley.. We need to be finishing off games against teams like stoke.

I love that the last 10 minutes of a Manchester United match pretty much dictates how well we played as a whole. Amazing really.

We had a ball cleared off the line by Young and two De Gea, inhuman saves within those 10 minutes. It's not like it was something minor. We could have easily drawn the game. We won the game in the end though and dominated the game for the most part, but people also have a right to be concerned with that finish. It's nothing new either.

My point is we need to finish off games and not run around defending desperately at the last minute against the likes of stoke at OT.

We had enough chances to do it. Did not finish our moves in the final third, which we shoulld be doing with a Fit Falcao, Rooney & Di Maria on the pitch. Stoke were lucky we did not score more, especially Herrera & Wilson chances.

Ok - but they did not.. like we did not take our 3 chances. 2-1, it's a win, United deserved the 3 points more than Stoke judging by the way game was played for the entire 90 mins, especially the 2nd half. You can find negatives out of everything, if you want to. For example if Wilson scored and it ended 3-1, one could always whinge about Herrera missing a sitter. Had Herrera scored, their would always a case for whinging about Falcao not doing much in the 15 mins he got to play in the end. So, yeah keep going on!

Sure we could be concerned. And on another day we may not have been as lucky. But my point is that, regardless of what happened at the end, we were not terrible, nor were we undeserving of that result as some seem to be implying.

Yeah, we had a bad run at the end and we may have been punished but we rode it out and got the result, something that didn't happen often last year. We will work on it. The squad is too good to struggle for results like that. The problem with this place is that there is no middle ground. It's either magnificent or it's horrible. People need to understand that there are actually shades of grey in life too. Not fifty but near enough.

Or another day we would be sitting on a 4-1 lead by the 80th min with our chances.. it goes both ways which some numpties over here fail to understand :D

Like I said to Red Thinker, there are grey areas, not everything is clear-cut. That's what football is, you have periods where you are up and others where you are down. You could be dominant and then on the backfoot. It happens. The important thing is to limit the times that you are on the backfoot and make the most of possession when you have it. We will learn to do that. I don't believe we'll continue to struggle for wins.

You are a lunatic - trust me.. u did not watch the 2nd half, if u can't see how United controlled it. Saw the 2 runs by Wilson? if you judge by the saves - why can't u remember the save Begovic had to make for Fellaini's chance? How often did u see the ball staying in Stoke's final third & ending up in their box? Do u even understand how the games can be controlled? Or are u too dumb to realize shooting left & right at the goalkeepers does not mean dominating the game?

Insulting me doesn't make what you are saying any more compelling. I don't consider crossing lots of balls in to the box as controlling a game, especially when most of them end up nowhere near the players they should be aimed at. You must have been in football heaven that time we played Fulham earlier in the year.

There was little precision to our attacking football and it could easily have cost us at the end. Tonight's performance was nothing like the quality that we showed against Hull.

I think with time we'll become a more creative attacking unit. We're only averaging something like 4 shots on target per match over the last 6 games but we've made ourselves hard to beat which is what we needed to do after Leicester.

We can keep going on, but that doesn't change the fact that this is not united's level of football. We don't let mid-low table teams pressure us like this at OT, there was enough of it during the moyes era. We need to be finishing off games like this before such things happen.... being 4th is not the aim here, the aim is to win the title, and playing like this will not get us the title.

Whats the thing with Ireland's and Wilsons beards. They are scary.

We are slowly getting tougher to beat. I was hoping, especially with the investment in creative players such as Di Maria, Herrera et al, that we would have moved away from the ineffective option of constantly looking for crosses. Especially when we don't have the players to deliver good crosses and it seems wasted on the players that we have up front.

Guys - Luck works both ways. We have been very unlucky against Leicester, West Brom and City. Now we are on the luck favoring side. Had we scored all the chances today - Herrera, Wilson, Fellaini- we will be looking at the score of 4 -1 . it has been due for some time. so please dont tell we were lucky today.

We just won a game . Lets enjoy for a day please

It has happened in the past, it will happen in the future as well. Stoke are a well drilled defensive side who are very tough to break. They played for a draw and couldnt succeed.

Did your realise we have won the game? Don't be so negative. It's terrible to see people on match thread sounding so damn depressed!

Right now its about getting "points on the board"

playing great football can come into play later on:)

LVG himself said he looks at the performance more than the result. We got away with it tonight but we need to keep up the improvement we saw against Hull.

LVG post match match for Sky where he talks about Di Maria & Rooney injuries. Also, calls himself a "Crazy Coach"

We weren't quite at the races but another win and with that maybe the luck is turning - injuries aside. It's a good result.
I am weary of the knockers.

Wilson just looks like one of those lego heads that have a beard.
To me those identical black shaped beards are an alien life-form. They go around and assimilate Irish footballers, or even random footballers called Ireland... It's horrible...

I think everyone did well tonight; just going through the team, yeah Wilson has a bit to learn, special mentions for Young, who gave their full back hell, Rojo and Smalling were both terrific, obviously De Gea. Valencia did OK; Michael Carrick showed how much he was missed. Hope they enjoy their party.

Great to see. Marouane played some great football this evening. He was a powerhouse in midfield, he defended, and his goal was vintage. And he seems like a really decent bloke. I think he is going to be a huge favourite for a long time.

I voted him my Man of the match. He was superb in the first half and was everywhere, won so many balls back & hurried the Stoke players who are no alien to playing it physical. Also, it takes a lot of mental strength & courage to turn it around after the kind of abuse he got from rivals fans & most of our own fans. He was the scapegoat, it was that bad last season that when Manchester United decided to post "Player skills challenge" on youtube, they disabled the comments for the video which had Fellaini in it.

There would still be be moaners & critics looking to slate him but he has won most of the others. :D

While I agree with you in that taking the positives is important, it is also good that Moyesification hasn't caused people's standards to slip.
Standard should not have slipped of course but we should be happy we climbed back gradually. There's always expectation from united players no doubt about it. It doesn't follow that a game where we haven't dominated is a game we played badly. Credit where's due

He is one of those who thinks Rome can be rebuilt in a day.
