That was way too close. Should not have been that nervy towards the end. People giving Fletcher shit need to chill, he was out ill for years, we cannot simply just abandon him after what he's been through. It's not what our club does. Yes it was a mistake bringing him on at the end but some of these comments are so irrational. Anyway, 3 points is 3 points. Prepare for Southampton, lets go reds.
It's true. I believe he is some sort of experience and leader figure in the dressing room. If he doesn't want to go elsewhere and be happy with backup roles and share his experience then I'm fine with giving him year by year contract.

We weren't quite at the races but another win and with that maybe the luck is turning - injuries aside. It's a good result.

I get that de Gea gave us two points at the end -- and that is an achievement -- but is that worthy of the entire MotM award? Really?

I thought we created a lot of chances in the second half and wasn't ruthlessness enough in front of goal. But we won, and that's all that matters.

How can you be mad at rvp when this team refuses To service him always going for the outwide option.

Please. We were dominating up until that frantic end. Our backline looked very assured -- have done for a few games now -- and very rarely did Stoke look like threatening. Should have scored another couple, yeah, but there was never any doubt in my mind that we wouldn't take 3 points tonight.

Yes, true. Of course we were dominating but again we wasted a lot of chances beetween minute 70 and 90. And we all have seen what happened. In 9 out of 10 cases we concede the goal, it is 2-2 and everyone gets depressed. We just need to finish those games off earlier. Everything else was quite good of course, compared to the start of the season. Still a LOT room for improvement. And Falcao finally needs a few starts. Not even Ronaldo or Messi can come back from and injury and gain form by those 15 minute runs. He has another 5-6 days of rest now. RVP has probably the most game-time of all outfield players so i´d really like to see him dropped for Radamel in Southhampton.

Dominated nearly the entire game and looked very confident, Stoke were barely in it but should've killed it off and not doing so nearly cost us at the end. Brilliant stuff from De Gea and Young to keep the lead.

    Another win though!

But then if we perform like today against southampton & liverpool, we are going out of top 4...
Where do you usually put your half empty glass? In the next few games we might have some players back from injury and won't be relying on James Wilson.

Sorry buddy, but just because he was ill does not entitle him to play.
We are Man Utd and only the best player should be allowed to play.
if we feel pity for him, make him a coach, but dont allow him to play. I doubt that even Leicester would play him, he is that bad.

And BTW, the Man Utd way is to win. Sentimentality is not our way.
Beckham, Keane, Stam - all great players for the club, but when they were not required, they were sold/sacked.

I never said that because he was ill we have to play him. I'm saying that he was ill, he took a long time to recover from it but he stuck at it & and I am glad he did. My point is we can not just throw him under the bus and release him, it's just not in our ethics. Yes, our ethics is also to win and that's where balance must be found. I also agree that he should not have been brought on but he probably covers our defence better than mata does anyway, surely?

Poor attacking performance. Lucky at the end to escape with 3 points. Pretty clueless going forward; constantly resorting to hopeful crosses rather than precise play. Mata playing like the attacking midfield equivalent to Cleverley with his side-way passes to the wing all the time instead of looking ahead and in-field.

This post is very idiotic.. United were all over Stoke in the 2nd half except the last 2-3 mins

For those who are worried/afraid of Liverpool, remember they should be afraid of us instead. Why? Because we will be playing with a momentum haha

Ermm... we let them in the last 10 mins. We need to keep that period quiet. We play like we did today, we'll stand a good chance of beating both teams coming up. The difference being we finish our bloody chances and this situation would ahve never happened.

We rode our luck today again.. luck will not be with us for every game, only in 2 matches we had a comfortable win.. so if we play like this we will lose.

As if luck didn't play a massive part in many games with Sir Alex. It's part of the game. Louis will be tearing into them for conceding the space with a few minutes to go. All is going well, as it should be.

    Post match reaction:

Louis van Gaal: "It was not our best performance. We were not aggressive enough in the first half, we didn't keep our position on the pitch. I was not pleased at half time - and I told them. The second half was better, we created more chances but we need to score more goals.

"Then Peter Crouch comes on, you know the long balls are coming and it is always difficult. But I'm pleased we held this result. The last few moments were not necessary but it is always like that. We have struggled until the end in the Premier League - it is common.

"I'm happy with the result - tomorrow we have a Christmas party and it's important we can enjoy that."

LVG on Wayne Rooney and Angel Di Maria's injuries: "Wayne has a scan tomorrow and then we will know more. I'm pleased Di Maria's injury is not so heavy. We've got more players coming back and we can see a little more light in the tunnel."

Juan Mata: “I tried to put the ball where it would be difficult for the keeper. It’s an important goal & we must check whose it is!”

Didn't watch the second half and from what I've from heard I missed out on having a heart attack towards the end.

I love that the last 10 minutes of a Manchester United match pretty much dictates how well we played as a whole. Amazing really.

Nonsense! We were unlucky not scoring two more today. Fallaini himself had two clear chances (one near post was saved) on each half and Wilson should have scored or let RvP score on second half.

Th same we we were very unlucky to lose/draw the games we should have won too.. what's your point?

Difficult to kill off games without roon
We won a game without our two best players
Now we know how liverpool feel

    On point!

I just don't get it. Yes we were very uncomfortable at the end and that's something we need to work on but we weren't by any means terrible. Tired towards the end perhaps but not terrible. It all comes down to taking earlier chances when they come but that's for another time.

Remind me of the saves Begovic had to make in that time that you state that we were all over them.

You are a lunatic - trust me.. u did not watch the 2nd half, if u can't see how United controlled it. Saw the 2 runs by Wilson? if you judge by the saves - why can't u remember the save Begovic had to make for Fellaini's chance? How often did u see the ball staying in Stoke's final third & ending up in their box? Do u even understand how the games can be controlled? Or are u too dumb to realize shooting left & right at the goalkeepers does not mean dominating the game?

Not afraid of the dippers..we are going to twat them real good at OT - I am pretty sure. Wazza & Co. would be up for it, more concerned about Southampton away.
