I think he’s been more effective in that deeper midfield role and that’s where I think his future will lie if he’s going to last here. Just not sure why at home, against Southampton we need to pick such a risk averse midfield.

I don't think many would say any of our players were excellent in our last two games. Going by that metric we wouldn't be able to field a team. You could make the case that Pogba was our best player in the Arsenal game. Certainly until McTominay went off, anyway.

Playing two midfielders whose best assets are off the ball may add defensive balance, but it costs offensive balance — the team lacks the ability to play through the middle actually lessens the balance because then the team becomes even more lopsided on Bruno creativity.

No, I'd have VDB instead of McTominay, like we did in the reverse fixture and VDB did very well.

I’m actually rather excited to see Cavani flanked by Greenwood & Rashford instead of the ghost of Martial.

I’m not as down on the choice of McFred tonight which is a surprise as I don’t rate the pair but I they should be winning the ball ball quickly & laying it off to those that can do something with it; hopefully we can pin them back abit.
