I have enjoyed the game. Good expansive football. The link up play has been good to watch. The big problem is finishing. I thought we've already gone past that since last season. You just got to wonder if we are heading for another draw. Sigh. I seriously hope not.

The Saints fans are having a pop, singing, 'your just a bunch of tourists' according to the BBC, you might need Martial to break this lot down. He can provide the odd flick or trick to open them up, IMO.

Probably the most disappointing thing is that we expected a reaction and many players do seem to be going through the motions. There was pass played out left to a player that came inside and it left a perfect inviting alley of Space for shaw to tear into. Not only did he not, but the player on the ball just fed it out so slowly anyway.

For me, we are so individually scared of messing up an attack that we slow it down, Southampton regroup and we try break them down from a less intense pressured position.

I'm actually alternating between Bristol C-Wolves and our game! Wouldn't have happened a few years ago!

Glad Rom is okay... but by feck I hate concussions! Most horrible, weird feeling ever. Last one I had, was dizzy and vomiting for 2 days straight.

I had a series of concussions playing American football, I ended up with post concussion symptoms from about 1997 until 2006-2007, brutal headaches and migraines on a weekly basis, with a low key lingering headache that was there almost 100% of the time that could escalate. Concussions are no fecking joke :(

All our attacking players look out of confidence, their natural instincts are being dampened.

Sometimew it feels like the ghost ofmoyes is still playing tricks with our players. I know the forward runs of Rashford and Lingard aren't the best but why does our players always have to pass the ball out wide when we try to break on the counter. It just seems really counter intuitive. Mata alone has been guilty of the slow sideways pass to Shaw instead of the through ball to either of our strikers. It just slows everything down needlessly.

    More on Lukaku's injury
Guidelines say you need six days from football if you suffer from concussion.

That would rule him out of the Everton game on New Year’s Day and the FA Cup game against Derby on Friday.

Aww, man! That sounds woeful. Hope you're Okay now, pal!

"Deliberate" is often also interpreted as "unnatural position" though - which was the case here. There's no reason for his hand to be up there, so it's a penalty.

That's obviously open to interpretation which is why these incidents always cause so much debate and refs create a rod for their own backs by giving pens that are never in a million years deliberate handball.

For me that one could easily have been given with where his arm was, but it'd have been harsh imo given the way the ball was pulled back by Lingard.

Apologies for offending Chris Foy's son

Jesus Christ, top level of intelligence on display here.

Infurating how wastful we have been in the final third, Mhki the main culprit but Rashford hasn't been much better.

Stonewall penalty. I didn't like how Lingard refused to play to the whistle though. The ball was bouncing around in front of him after it hit the defenders arm, he could easily have taken it under control and taken a shot and pass to a team mate.

You cannot simply rely on the ref to make the right call, invariably they don't or at least it seems that way at times.

Sometimes it feels like the ghost of Moeys is still affecting our players. I know the forward runs of Rashford and Lingard aren't the best but why does our players always have to pass the ball out wide when we try to break on the counter. It just seems really counter intuitive. Mata alone has several times been guilty of the slow sideways pass to Shaw instead of the through ball to either of our strikers. The one thing Pawson hasn't got right is, the foul on Lukaku was dangerous and a definite yellow. That defender had no chance of getting the ball but jumps into Lukaku.

    Clear penalty btw.

Pawson will frustrate again in the second half I think.

I knew a guy who fell off his bike and banged his head on the pavement. Was a bit dazed, but thought nothing more of it. He died a week later. You can't mess around with any sort of head injury. Hope Rom gets well soon.
