    Need to choke them right away, get a comfortable lead then coast and let yung unes come on.

    Hopefully that partnership never starts again.

    We should be bedding in Lindelof-Martinez while Varane is injured.
    Martinez should be given a break. Surely Lindelof and Maguire can handle Sheriff's attack.

    I'd be tempted to rotate as much as possible for this game. Assuming the guys returning to training aren't fit enough to start, I'd go with:

    De Gea
    Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Malacia
    McTominay, Fred
    Sancho, Bruno, Elanga
    Ronaldo
    Effectively have Sancho, Ronaldo and Elanga playing to start at the weekend vs West Ham (assuming Martial still isn't fit).

    To be clear this squad is not capable of beating anyone 3-0?

    Doesn’t look like it. 1 goal margin looks about its best hope at the moment, 2 if really lucky. A 3+ gap seems beyond us. A 5-0 win - at the moment we’d have to go down a few divisions.

    Absolute nonsense but you crack on mate.

    De gea
    Dalot lindelof Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro Fred
    Erickson
    Antony Ronaldo Rashford

    I would like to see Bruno, Martinez and Casemiro get a rest but I don’t see it happening especially Casemiro and Martinez with Varane out.

    I don’t really want Ronaldo in either but Martial won’t be ready it seems and maybe starting him if he was fit would be a stretch.

    Good start and a couple of goals up by halftime and then make some changes, would like to see a couple of the youngsters get a shout….hopefully

    No sign of martial training again today

    He’ll surely be back for boxing Day

    I’d be playing Dubravka at right back for this one. Dalot needs a vacation.

    Wrong. We lost by 1 goal against Sociedad. If we beat them by 1 goal and both teams end up level on points, it will come down to GD. As I said if we don’t improve our GD significantly in this game we’ll have to beat Sociedad by 2+ goals to edge the H2H.

    1. Points in head-to-head matches among the tied teams;
    2. Goal difference in head-to-head matches among the tied teams;
    3. Goals scored in head-to-head matches among the tied teams;
    4. If more than two teams are tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams are still tied, all head-to-head criteria above are reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams;
    5. Goal difference in all group matches;
    6. Goals scored in all group matches;
    TBH i think it’s going to come down to us needing to beat Sociedad by 2 goals. I think the goal difference is too much to close now.

    Sociedad are on +7 and we’re on +3. You’d imagine Sociedad will beat Omnia by at least 2 goals. That leaves us needing a 6-0 to draw level. Even 5-0 is a stretch. Most likely going to need to beat Sociedad by a couple of goals.

    We could really do with some players back in action. We need to rotate a few players soon.

    Guess it depends how they look in training but could see Awb, Maguire and Donny back in the squad. Aaron Wan Bissaka is one I hope that could improve massively with Ten Hag, we’ll see. Still need a strong team out tomorrow and get a big result for GD. Realistically though we need a 4-0 win at least?

    Still think Ten Hag will start really strong here.

    de Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro Eriksen
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Ronaldo

    Unless he brings Ronaldo on with 3 minutes to go to make a point :lol:

    If you play Ronaldo, it would make far more sense to just go 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 and rest Bruno. That way, Ronaldo can drop deep to get on the ball and still have a couple of forwards stretching the pitch from wide to make space for him to work with.

    Yeah id agree with that but don't see ETH changing formation to suit a striker on his way out of the door.

    Why would you want Ronaldo dropping deep moving him further away from the only thing that he might possibly still be able to do - finish.

    Any formation change to accommodate Ronaldo is not going to happen

    We all should be familiar with EtH's approach by now...he wants to win something in his first season and is going to pick as close to full strength as he can in every game.

    Whether that is the right/wrong approach only time will tell.

    Rashford, Sancho and Antony could all do with a few goals so I would expect all 3 to start tomorrow.

    Why would you want Ronaldo dropping deep moving him further away from the only thing that he might possibly still be able to do - finish.

    Because he wants to drop and get on the ball and he isn’t going to make runs unless he thinks he has a shooting chance.

    We ll finish second of this group and how sweet will it be to play against Barcelona right in the next round ....

    Joke aside, it will be difficult this season in EL knowing the big teams in this competition.

    Ajax, Atletico, Barca, Francfort, Sevilla, Juve, Donetsk and Salzbourg may be our opponents in this round...

    Nah, win tonight and then beat Sociedad by more than 1 goal and finish top. That is assuming they beat Pneumonia as expected.

    Forgot about him to be honest, my bad. I wonder if has even been on the bench this season.

    No. He was injured during pre season and is just now close to resuming full training. I am sure he will get some minutes once he is fit even if it is a few cameos off the bench to put him in the shop window. I still think the plan is to sell him if we can find a willing buyer.
