I find it strange how it just is accepted that Lukaku has gained the bulk, and it will be hard of him to shed it.

Professional athletes in martial arts do it at will, and Lukaku got access to a better support network than they do.

Sounds reasonable. Apologies to the ref.

So if no var, he would have just gave the pen immediately you think?
    Definitely.
I thought there was no advantage for penalties? I must be wrong.
    Never heard that.
The ball wasn't played out of the box.. It fell to Fred in a second. Would have been silly to stop Fred in that position to award a penalty.

Get what we can for the donkey in the summer and use it to fund a goal scoring right forward. Play Rashford as a 9.

We need to rest our best players for Spurs.

I'm not arguing for our best XI starting, by any means. Just pointing out that a combination of Lukaku's bad touch, Sanchez and Fred's risk taking, Dalot's more adventurous approach to right back etc. means we'll see less of the ball than we might like.

Hopefully we don’t see many of these players starting games for the rest of the season.

    Yellow card for Reading

Yiadom with a heavy challenge on Fred and goes in Stuart Attwell's book.
I just knew Lukaku wouldn't score there. Just knew it.

Terrible how he won us a pen. Just terrible. And then to step up and put it in the bottom corner. :wenger:

Yes he's terrible. He can't hold the ball, run, pass or press. It's always somebody elses fault too, be it Valencia or Pogba or whoever else.

Scoring a penalty doesn't change that.

Darmian has been composed, played well from out the back and made some decent interceptions.

I really like the look of Fred. He's been superb so far. With Lingard and Rashford in the team, he could be lethal with one-touch play.

    Definitely.

That's fair. I just assumed penalties and red card couldn't have advantage played for.

fred has played some great passes today. That was such a good pass to lukaku but of course he had his timberlands on today. If he could just improve on his strength and balance we actually have a tier 1 midfielder.

My girlfriend has dyspraxia, I reckon Lukaku might as well.

About what i think of him as well. He retains the ball well but is afraid to take risks passing. Might change under new management
Really good athlete, quick across the ground, quite agile for his size, can run all day, not much football in him.

Isn't Mata supposed be out on the right? Why does he insist on drifting into the middle? It leaves an enormous hole on the right.

And my GF reliably informs me that Renée Zelweger does it routinely when playing Brigette Jones … whatever one of those is (he says knowingly) ;)

This feels like all our deadwood playing. Most of the players that need shipping out asap.

Wondering when Pereira is going to realise he’s in the middle of a game of football and he’s supposed to move about, make tackles and stuff. Looks like he’s not I trested at all.

More space for Reading going forward and a two on one situation opens up briefly but Harriott delays his pass and we get back to clear the danger. The visitors are having a good go now and we are affording them a lot of space around our back four.
The quality of our squad players certainly needs drastically improving
