I’ve said elsewhere but I think the idea with Zirkzee was for him to have the ball played into him, hold it up and lay it off and then have Bruno etc play Garnacho or Rashford running in behind. He was supposed to draw the center backs forward leaving space behind. Something similar to how Firmino worked at Liverpool with Salah and Mane the main goal threats.
