If there's even the slightest doubt on Rashford I don't want him to play. Still a huge number of games still to play. Yes it's a final but this injury could turn from a niggle to a couple of months out - that would be a disaster.

 so no pundit is allowed to pick Newcastle to win what will probably be a very tight game?

also to the best of my knowledge Sutton never played for Newcastle so I doubt there is any bias there
He's doing his mate Shearer a favour

Im a bit more comfortable benching Rashford if Antony is back.

Antony being a solid RW option means there's still good balance and at least Sancho / Garnacho can play on a flank they tend to do better in naturally.

Hopefully he's fit enough to play 20mins off the bench if we really need him though.

All the pundits seem desperate to see a Newcastle win.

Will make it even more delightful to turn that lot over on Sunday and make those cnuts eat their humble pie!

To be fair it looked more like he a heavy landing caused some soreness. Didn’t look like he pulled or tweaked anything. I think he’ll be fine, two days, massages etc he’ll play a part for sure.

Agree. Bench him and bring on at half time if necessary when Wout gets hooked. Top four finish is way more important to me than this game.

Burn has been good for them but is incredibly slow. Antony was turning him inside out when we played them at OT and Burn resorted to repeatedly fouling him and somehow escaped a red. Just one of the things that pissed me off about the referee performance that day.

He must be the tallest full back in history.
Newcastle will probably double up on Antony which should free up space somewhere else

If Karius is in goal I doubt they'd want to go to pens. I think they will go all out attacking, with Saint-Maximin and Isak in great form lately. Even with 10 men they looked dangerous every time they got on the ball vs the scousers.
It must be odd to be playing knowing you’d never have been selected only the kit man/tea lady/ was unavailable. It’s the opposite to being trusted by your manager; it’s stand between the posts, and don’t cry if the ball hits you. He’ll play a blinder.

Confident of an united win after a long time. Never bodes well in those cases. But I am sure I will become a pessimist by Sunday morning and that always bodes well, so I am sure united will win

Just need to play at a high intensity from the start and hope to get a few past their keeper.
My worry is a slow start like Leicester or first half Barca.

My feeling as well. Newcastle is basically the Atletico of the PL.

As bad maybe worse. Its like Premier league refs aren't even used to such blatant antics. Game at OT was unwatchable, barely football

If we manage a couple of goals early it changes everything of course but even 1 goal would see them at it

Hope Rashford is ok. Why couldn't the injury happen another time? Always before a cup final...

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw
    Antony Casemiro Sabitzer Bruno
    Sancho Rashford

The 11 players I feel most confident starting probably won't be picked because why play an all new team in a cup final?

    -------------Rashford--------------------
    -----Bruno-----------------------Antony
    -------Fred-----Sabitzer----------------
    Shaw------Casemiro------------------
    -------Lisandro-----Varane------Dalot
    -----------------De Gea--------------------

so my guess is we see Weghorst or Sancho instead of one of Fred or Sabitzer.

Also that lineup leaves Trippier too open and he's one of their 3 key playmakers (Guimares and - to a lesser extent because he's a CB, not because he's not a fine passer - Schar).

    So my guess is:

    -------------Rashford--------------------
    Sancho-----Bruno------------Antony
    ------------Fred-----------------------------
    Shaw------Casemiro------------------
    -------Lisandro-----Varane------Dalot
    -----------------De Gea--------------------

not because Ten Hag trusts Sancho but because he can sort of mark Trippier and the only better option there really is Rashford and just let Trippier go forward and hope that leaves space behind when Shaw breaks up play between him and Amiron. And Rashford has to play up top, Schar and Botman is a slower CB combination.

If Rashford is out, I guess we'll give it a go with Weghorst, but his lack of speed means we need to get up the pitch and Newcastle like to play on the counter.

    If so, I guess this:

    ---------------Weghorst--------------------
    Sancho------Bruno------------Antony
    ------------Fred-----------------------------
    Shaw------Casemiro------------------
    -------Lisandro-----Varane------Dalot
    -----------------De Gea--------------------

    but this wouldn't shock me:

    ------------------Antony--------------------
    Garnacho------Sancho---------Bruno
    ------------Fred-----------------------------
    Shaw------Casemiro------------------
    -------Lisandro-----Varane------Dalot
    -----------------De Gea--------------------

as we really have played better with some pace in attack and Sancho-Bruno have linked well at times.

I like the idea of pace up top if Rashford is out. I think Garnacho would be great up there

    Antony Casemiro Fred Bruno
    Sancho Garnacho

Really want a Rashford header as I feel like that header miss v Newcastle set Rashford heading (pun intended) in the right direction of learning to head the ball.
