Have to question ten hag coaching as all I still see us doing is forcing the play too much, long aimless goal kicks, route one hopeful long balls from our defenders that nobody latches onto and goes straight to the feet of the opposition defenders/goalkeeper, our midfielder/wingers try to play the killer ball without trying to build the play up.

Is this what ten hag is all about because it's poor and frustrating to watch.

Worrying half. We look as incompetent as we were against Brighton.

Stop overreacting. We’ve not been that bad. Just not enough going forward from midfield coupled by poor decision making in the final third. I’d take Sancho off and get Rashford on. Shaw has been excellent.

    You know the answer

It's not Newcastle pressing making it hard, but Utd midfield players are so weird in positioning. Everything breaks when trying to transition to attack, unless one long pass connects with Sancho or Antony.
Yep. Our midfield profiles suck. Fernandes is basically his own man in midfield running where he pleases, no tactical discipline to him, and normally at least one of the two in the pivot behind him isn’t even suited to a midfield two

Sancho has been good, why would you sub him?

How is Ronaldo getting so much blame in here? If Bruno, Fred or the fullbacks would actually support our wingers in build ups then maybe we'd be able to work a chance.

I thought that was a good half to watch - very end to end. Fred was a bit frantic and we really need more composure in the final third. But Newcastle are a very good team too and pressing well.

Listening to Keys and Gray in 2022 is fecking painful
It's astonishing that those two plus Merson are still paid massive salaries as pundits when they're so painfully out of touch with the modern game. They haven't got a single piece of interesting insight to offer and are just gobshites.

With tactical analysis like this I can see why you don’t recognise what Ten Hag demands

Antony's infatuation with Ronaldo will cost us

I hope he snaps free from being starstruck
He wont, purely because Bruno and Dalot haven't stopped either. Its so fecking infuriating watching them ignore better passes to give their god a goal.

Apart from set pieces we look solid in defense, playing nicely out the back. Haven't given Newcastle much of a look in. Guimaraes isn't in the game. Problem as usual this season is out inept attack. Both flanks don't do what they were bought for, namely beating their man. Ronaldo is finished and Fred for all his effort just lacks the technique. Bruno does all he can, I will never fault his effort.

so Five Live Extra now not doing the United game? what the feck is going on

Scrappy 1-0 looks our best hope. Ronaldo penalty probably.

Very intense half of football. Newcastle had a good patch of control in the middle of it and should have scored then. Otherwise our defense has been solid with only set plays carrying any sort of threat.

Our attack however is again dysfunctional. Fred's inability to control a football combined with this lack of strength is killing a lot of our attacks. McT would've done far better here against a physical side. Also as expected, players are still overcooking things looking for Ronaldo. EtH needs to shout at them that Ronaldo's main use now is as a defense magnet to create space for others.

We do have a slight advantage now though with Burn's booking. Antony needs to get at him every chance he gets. This will be a very tight second half where the team that makes the better decision will win.

“Big man’s got to head it in”
“is the game that reliant on technology?” (After Leeds game delayed)

Ronaldo slows the game no matter how good or bad he plays. Players around him tend to overestimate his ability and become lazy. No runs, no one twos, just deliver it to our #7. I said the same after Everton and attracted Caf Ronaldo Love Police attention. Please help me.
I dont think the pace/tempo of the game has been a problem, infact its the other way around, we would benefit by being a bit more composed and being intelligent with the final ball. Its been frantic, just need to show more guile in the attacking areas and bit more control of the midfield.

Am I the only one thinking that was a good half? All j read on here is how Newcastle would be a tough game, could finish above us etc and now it’s an even half the same posters are freaking out about how even it is
