I don’t really get the concern over/derision of Malacia. I think he’ll do fine today.

    4312 by any chance?

No. Cant imagine ten Hag will move away from his system. All that has happened is that he's brought in some extra legs with Fred and moved Bruno out wide.

I'm glad he's done this too, as I felt we were a bit too light in midfield in the reverse fixture.

Don’t mind that team at all. Fred will bring tons of energy in the middle and there’s loads of pace in that back 4.

Fred is supossed to be the difference here than our usual lineup. But it depends on him, sometimes maybe good sometimes maybe shit.

I like Case - Fred combo in the middle, and hopefully Eriksen also drops deep if we can't get a foothold in the middle of the pitch.

On the defense, we need a big game from Malacia today. Mahrez has been great lately.

A week and a half ago he was partying with Argentina. Shaw and Malacia at LCB and LB will cancel their right side, be it Bernardo or Mahrez.

On the other side you have AWB who we're sure will gonna pocket someone.

The key against Pep's teams is to nullify his flanks and that is what ETH is doing.

Martinez wouls have been bullied and targeted anyway.

Iirc, Unai Emery did something similar a very long time ago. Back when Pep was at Barca and they had Messi/Alves tearing through teams on that side. Worked quite well.

Interested to see what instructions EtH/Pep will give to their players. City looked tired last couple of games, United might do well pressing high in the early stages of the game.

Mainoo over Iqbal now? Is Iqbal going out on loan? I hope he is..

Cancelo's been dreadful for them lately. Hope we're able to target his side.

Just realised everytime we put antony and elanga next to eachother on a team sheet I always end up wondering where antony is then realise i read two players and not one

the key is stopping their FBs from pushing up into midfield, and creating all kinds of overloads. Having bruno out wide (ish) gives them something to think about, especially if stays high...

That city line up is so strong.

    De brunye
    Mahrez
    Haaland
    Foden
    Silva

FFS how can we stop them all?

Malacia v Mahrez is a worry. I haven’t been that impressed by him since he arrived although I do see his potential. Martinez situation is a bit worrying as that World Cup looks like it has knocked him back a bit, ETH obviously doesn’t trust him again yet. Whatever happens today I think we need to score to get anything out of this game as we won’t keep a clean sheet. However I’m going 1-3 City and Rashford, Haaland(2), Foden.

Feel like we are going to be playing to stop them, as opposed to bringing the game to them. It's worked before so we will see.

Three centre backs on the bench and only one on the pitch… ok Martinez looked rusty but I thought Shaw looked pretty bad defensively as CB last time and that was against much weaker opposition. Also don’t think Malacia is good enough to face City.

Im concerned about our left side. Malacia needs to do a complete 180 from his previous performance or those crosses will reach Haaland at some point. Not sure Shaw is the man to stop him. I would have prefered Lindelof at the CB pairing, but him and Maguire seem surplus to league squad requirements.

Elanga needs to go on a loan.

Bench is decent. Martinez for malacia and Shaw out wide would be stronger. Interesting that Martinez not starting
Ten Hag doesn’t take discipline lightly ! Martinez came back too late after the World Cup so he is down the picking order for now. That’s this kind of decision that makes me believe he is the right gaffer long term. No one is above the team. It can be seen as harsh sometimes but it’s really fair.

Glad to see Fred in a midfield 3.
Would probably have started Martinez but you have to trust the manager.

It really doesn't say much for Lindelof and Maguire though. I think their days are numbered under this manager.

Interesting how everyone is looking for the bad in the line up!

We have strengths too which city will be well aware of.

Just hope we turn up if we do we can take them.

The defense really looks problematic and makeshift. We also have no threat from the width. Positives are we have three in the middle and Fred is really playing well lately.
