Just about to set off to Manchester and I am pumped for this game. There's too much talk of City being better than us, but I don't think they are. They play a brand of football that is dull in the extreme whereas we play with flair and excitement. They will fear us and we seem to have momentum and belief once again. Their defence is vulnerable and we have the attacking players to exploit their weaknesses. Believe!

BBC and the Guardian are billing it as a close match. A lot of United supporters (me included) are much more cautious. It’s the kind of game where we have been dominated in the recent past but maybe the shift we need to compete equally in this game with City is mental. Trust in ETH to have bridged at least some of that mental gap.

Can’t see anything but a loss, unfortunately. I wonder if there will ever come a time when we are favorites in this fixture again?

City win 4:1, Haaland brace and MotM.

I feel confident but then get sudden bursts of nervousness and think we’ll lose like 3-0.
    Massive game , massive

What would you all think if we lost but actually were the better team throughout the game and City only just scrapped through with the win?

Would you view that as progress and be satisfied or is getting the positive result all that matters to you regardless on how we play?
I would take an ugly undeserved win against this lot any day.

Would love a great performance, but I'd rather the result.
I know we've come leaps and bounds since, so one off day and still getting a result would be much better than seeing what we know is happening and lose.

Yet another game that isn't on sky. Dunno why I bother paying them

If we don’t lose this game I think the sense of self belief washes over the squad and all of us. We have to turn up and we have to absolutely harass City no matter what happens, it’s anyone’s game then.

I'd actually take a draw where we dominated over a win where we countered and got lucky. Going toe to toe with City would be the biggest mark of progress, we've been playing like a relegation side against them for years.

Not got a great feeling about this one. We haven’t won an early Saturday kick off since last year.

Do not look at things like this, life can be much for fun if you look at things in a more positive light.

We may win 4-1 !!, can you imagine that :)

    Any leaked team news yet?

I’m assuming if Martial is fit he’ll play, and if not then it’ll be Rashford down the middle with Garnacho on the left.

Worried this might be a reality check for the media and us fans who are beginning to believe again.
Whatever the result I'm certain we are on the right track

We are doing better than I thought we would so far, I estimated a league position of around 6th to 7th at new year, out of the League Cup, but still in Europe and FA cup, and a lot of the players have upped their game, De Gea, Dalot, Shaw, Fred, Rashford, and quality buys, Casemiro, Martinez, Eriksen, but we still are not the finished article, as most people realise, so today's match will be a good indicator of how we've progressed.
city will absolutely be up for this, so we can expect a tough game, but with a little bit of fortune, we could sneak a win, but to me city are the barometer of the EPL, so a good result, or more importantly, a really good performance will indicate that we are indeed 'back', as Pep has been spouting recently.

Early kick-off. Against City. This is going to be something all right.

    Just don't concede early please

I know your joking but I've got a gut feeling we're going to thrash them, just feels like a turning point to me.

    Hope I'm right.

Yeah, I have that same feeling myself. I'm hoping it does happen, but even when they were shit it rarely happened.

Based purely off how results have been going recently and the way both teams have been playing lately, there's a few City players that look spent.

If the City that turned up at Southampton mid week play today then I expect us to win comfortably!

2-4 at half time with Rashford scoring the opener from the spot at 2:28 according to my dream last night.

City’s biggest game of the season.

If City lose they will feel the title is slipping away.

If United lose then Top 4 is still very much a possibility.

Fot those reason I can see City winning today, but it will be a tight match.

Can’t understand the pessimism. Is it because of the way it ended up when we went to Etihad in October?

We won against this lot even under Ole. And not just once but multiple times too. Home & away.

Don’t be afraid; we’ll win this one and I feel it’ll be in an entertaining fashion. Won’t be a dull game.

Despite his poor performances lately, a fit Martial could prove really helpful in the sense that he will allow Rashford to attack the wide spaces in-behind City's defence.

Dalot will also be missed because he's better than AWB at switching play in the build-up to bypass the high press, and he's also good at making the runs in the box that create the chance for Antony to go 1v1 and that little pocket in the right half-space for the midfielders to move into.

It's interesting how we'll approach this tactically because a big part of our adventurous positioning under ETH relies on Casemiro's ability not only to cover a lot of ground between the defence and the rest of the midfield, but, most importantly, cover it effectively. But KdB, Gundogan and Bernardo might be a bit too much.

ETH hinted in his interview that our goal is to play our game no matter the opponent. Remember that we are still a work in progress in case things go awry today.

Anyway, huge game. I don't think we're ready to challenge for the title yet, but it's a good test. I know we have beaten City in the last few years, but when was the last time we won against a City side that truly needed the three points and/or had something to lose?
