Would be more confident away. Think this will be a boring win for City, 0-1 or 1-2.

We'll probably score from a pen though, the only thing we are consistently world class at

I'm so deflated after the RBL game. It's hard to get up for even this one.

Would love to see VdB and Greenwood to start and have great games. That would make me happy.

I never want to see Pogba play for us again.

    .......................Henderson....................
    AWB.....Lindelof.....Maguire.....Telles
    .............VDB.....Fred.....Pogba.........
    .....................Fernandes.............
    ......Greenwood.............Rashford
Fred at the bottom of the diamond makes me feel Ill.

This is the kind of game where people think we're going to lose and all the pressures are high on the players.

Only then the players stepped up and performed to win.

:angel:No trolling, but I say we won't lose. Draw at most after conceding let's say... 2 or 3 goals.

Then people will credit it all on Ole for being the right manager, showing again his tactical masterclass.

Not saying we will not win or play well, but how was the pressure not high when trying to make it to the next level of the Champions League? Then they went and sucked, like Luke Shaw sucking in air through his mouth jogging back.

Yep, misread the season Spurs went to the final for the Champions League. I don't retract from the overall point though.
Outside of that CL final appearance Spurs record in the CL under Poch was group and round 16 exits. The main point is that one off final appearance shouldnt cloud peoples judgement into thinking he had a brilliant European competition record with Spurs.

Now back to the topic of the thread.

Uniteds record against City under Ole

Ole is going to approach this with extra caution. Expect him to set up with 7 defensive players again. He’ll surrender the ball & hope we can exploit their defensive mistakes. Long ball over the top to Rashford.

Don’t you just love our exciting attacking manager

I assume that’s what you want, not expect? Because Ole is not going to drop his Scotty.

Is it bad that up till now I'm still in bad mood to the point I don't give a shite about the result of this game, as if it's not a big derby ? I feel totally indifferent.

The problem is we can't really out possess City, we can't out press them either as if we give them space Stering / Mahrez will kill us over the top with De bruyne.

We've had success at sitting back and countering before and we know we CAN damage them when we get the chance, so I don't see us changing that this weekend.

The issue is also our defence isn't doing great recently, but we need to make sure we keep plenty of threat going forwards as well.

I suspect it'll be either the 3-5-2 or a 4-2-3-1 with Fred/Mctominay and maybe James on the RW.

The post-match interview will say something about the «booys» being fantastic and that we will dust ourselves off because we can’t feel sorry for ourselves... and so on and so forth.

    Rashford--------Cavani

    Bruno

    Telles--------Fred-------McTominay------AWB

    Shaw---------Maguire-----Tuanzebe

    Henderson

Subs: De Gea, Williams, Lindelöf, Pogba, James, Martial, Greenwood

We’re currently on the biggest league winning run any team has had this season and you’d think from this place we’ve not won a match all season. Short memories given we genuinely were going into matches under the likes of LVG having just lost 4 in a row.

Hoping our lads turn up for this one, need to be on it from minute one and not just the second half or when we're losing. Still, just got a feeling this will be a rather routine 2-0 win for City.

Didn't we have a very very very bad December under van gaal?

We did. The press were out in force predicting that Van Gaal would be sacked. This led to his classic press conference, where he demanded an apology from the journalists who had wrongly predicted his sacking. When this was met by complete silence, he told them to enjoy their wine and mince pies and promptly walked out of the press conference after one minute! His brand of football was shite to watch, but I loved how he stood up to the crap written by the great ABU media.

The funniest thing is, after this press conference, we lost again anyway the next day 2-0 to Stoke and the media tore him to shreds in their headlines in response.

Edit : Here's the headline they went for after this.

We'll have EL though which is much worse than the CL. I wouldn't mind if we just used the reserves for the EL honestly.

That's what I think will happen if there's even a sniff of a title challenge by spring

And who is this mythical great manager that can solve United's problems?

It's definitely not the current one as far as I'm concerned. I like how the reasoning of keeping Ole is just because you don't believe no manager will solve our issues so let's just keep the current one, anyway.

That's not what I said. I think the club is in the middle of a rebuild project, you have to be wilfully ignoring it if you can't see the elements that have improved.

I think the club has learnt that changing the manager every two years hasn't worked and essentially keeps setting the club back. Continuity is important for the club, whether Ole leads the club to the pinacle of European football I don't know, but he's certainly laying the foundations.

For people to say it would replace Ole with an amazing coach, better than Mourinho even, is pointless if such a coach can't even be named let alone be available!!

Wow, just look at the score prediction poll. That's pretty telling. I mean, city aren't in superb form either, but there's not a lot of confidence we can do this. I predict 2-0 to city. Ole will be under huge pressure if I'm right. Knocked out of the CL and beat at home in the derby - not acceptable. Would be fair enough if he got the boot. I hope my prediction is wrong and he stays.

Basically just a rehash of many phrases I have read here several times "Rebuild project", "Can't change managers every 2 years", "Laying foundations". You have said nothing new.

I swear United is the only big club in the world who is damaged by changing managers every 2 years and is in eternal cycle of rebuilding and transitional phases ever since Fergie left.

Other clubs around us sack managers every 2-3 years and never take more than 2 years or so of rebuilding but for United it's a task harder than climbing Everest. We expect every manager to spend 3-5 years rebuilding his side from scratch then start evaluating him.

The logic of "keep the manager because I don't think another manager will solve the problem" is a logic you'll only see applied in United.

If we start this game punch drunk as we have been recently it could get ugly very quickly. It could be reminiscent of last years League Cup SF at OT.

Ideally Mendy & Rodri would start. I presume Mendy won't be fit though so Cancelo will play. Am hoping if City were to have some early chances then they fall to Sterling.

Not confident. They will score first. Maybe we come back as we have been doing.

We need to shut down our wide areas. Most part of goals have come from oposition attacking our fulbacks, or set pieces. I would go with 4-2-3-1 and tell our wingers to track down every move ManCity does. I'm not ashamed winning ugly. If we do that we will be fine. I wouldn't mind having James as one of those in this game.

He's not fit, no idea why he's playing.

High pressure but the morale of the Squad is worsened after Pogba+Raiola shitty timings. Ole letting Pogba remain in the squad doesn't help. Are there even actions taken against him in the dressing rooms? Doubt it. The quick collapse on the pitch is not too surprising, within expectations. The players only decided to ignore Pogba's backstabbing antics completely and focus on winning at the last 20 mins.

That 20 mins effort are the "normal performances" when our backs are on the wall. Alas not enough time.

Bash the people backing Ole all you want. But you still can't name this mythical manager who you think would come in and save the club....

Yes I can. You know the name quite well, actually, it's not a secret or rocket science, but what's the point of saying his name when you will bash him anyway and invent any excuse to say he won't be better than Ole?

I think this is going to be an easy win for us.
Just when Ole is about to lose his job, he pulls a win out from somewhere and he needs this win to keep the naysayers at bay, so a win it shall be.
The luckiest manager I have ever seen (lucky at keeping his job, not lucky at stringing multiple wins together to win a trophy).

What is crucial is not the players on the pitch, but will we get a penalty. As long a Bruno plays and we get a penalty, we'll win.

    Pretty well laid out there.

Ole's job is on the line, so we will win obviously. Play some nice attacking football as well.

Why on Earth mythical? Are you that deluded? I mean is OGS some sort of a miracle whose success can not be beaten? Brendan bloody Rogers is a better manager. Jose well past it Mourinho is better too unfortunately. Rose, Nagelsmann, Zidane, Conte, Allegri, Pochettino are all much better managers. Carlo Ancelotti, Mircea Lucescu are still much much better than him. So stop being deluded. Ole is not some sort of a wonder and it won't take a miracle to find a better gaffer. Name one top half team in any top 5 European leagues which would want to hire Ole. Mythical, my arse...
