Maguire missing has made me annoyed at Ole as he was clearly struggling in the first half against Wolves at the most why not leave him until half time then replace him like has happened with McT and potentially Pogba, them having to carry on injured has led to them potentially being out longer if indeed this is why Maguire is absent

If he didn't trust Jones that maybe slightly understandable however it's now led to him having to use Jones vs City and potentially subsequent games. Obviously Maguire may have been out even if taken off after being injured however it's just another questionable decision
We do not trust Jones so yeah. Those decisions are often discussed with players so there's not much you can do if Maguire decides he can continue.

Its crazy we have sent smalling out on loan and now only have Phil Calamity Jones to fall back on at C/H

Great chance for city to win the tie tonight.

The lack of squad depth is shameful. The lack of incoming signings is even more shameful.

I shall watch this in the hope of seeing a miracle win for United, but I'm fearing the worst here.

As usual. So many insults towards our team, players and manager before a derby game. But I'm not suprised. There are those who hate more then love. Haters will always hate. Sadly.

Not even when we have so many players out injuried there is any understanding.

For what it's worth, the word was that Maguire insisted on staying on the pitch at the half and Ole let him. Was that a mistake? Maybe. But the captain led by example and it may have cost him.

It's just the start of January.

    Who am I kidding..

It is time for De Gea to show some bloody form. Last seasons derby he was shocking, but that stopped Pool getting the league win so people didn't slate him too much.

No Aguero should make life easier for him though this time and he must go out and stop Otamendi too.

We needed money, nobody would take Jones.

Thats bollocks. Smalling is too good to be backup and values his career. We respected that and found him a loan mover.

Um who on that bench can play as a centre back if Jones or Lindelof get injured? Dalot is the only defender on it and didn't think he could play there?

Pereira&Fred against a Sheffield/Burnley, I would be worried. Especially of Andreas of course, but against a finesse team like City, I am not too worried!

Yes, but why is that bollocks? We could find something for Smalling, nothing for Jones.

It was honourable of Maguire to carry on however it may have cost us more in the long term as it may have put him out for longer than if he had come off as now we are stuck with Jones, he was clearly limping about halfway through the first half if absolutely necessary see if he can run it off the first half but maybe the coaches need to be a little more insistent that he needs to come off for the long term benefit of the team.

Weve gone from having a huge number of centre backs to looking short. Not one on the bench unless Dalot can play there?

So I am at work and I don't think I can watch the game. I have the choice to follow a live feed on a website, or stay here and refresh the cafe and see the despair... what should I do?

Lingard and Jones says it all really, not expected much from tonight.

If we’re being very fair, The manager chose not to take off a player who looked like he was carrying a knock on the weekend. Maguire said he wanted to stay on? Oh and there I was thinking Ole was the manager....
The manager and club chose to “get rid of deadwood” and bring in no replacements thus leaving our squad in an inevitable mess when the inevitable injuries occur. The thing is literally everyone said this exact thing was gonna happen at some stage and cost us. Yet inexplicably the people running the club and team didn’t, or did and just thought ‘feck it’ genuinely don’t which is worse.

To be fair, I don't think Maguire says he wanted to stay on. He probably said something along the lines of: I think I can play, I am fine. Would you take him off based on that? It's half time, if your player tells you something, you have to trust him.

Why Jones didn't play in the easy cup games before christmas with Tuanzebe was stupid. Now he has not played for ages and it is hard to know what level he is at.

We are in a transfer window and he has money to spend. If he can't spend or convince board to spend, then he shouldn't be at the job. It's a pathetic starting XI and shows how big a difference between the two clubs.

    Totally and utterly agree.

Lingard should be the posterboy for every mediocre player out there that dreams of making it big in football.

Never confident against City but then I wasnt last month and the team turned up so hopefully we can take an advantage back to their place.
