Woodward has to take blame for the lack of support he showed and the false belief that 2nd place last season would correspond into a title challenge this season.

Woodie never thought we'd challenge for the title this year. Jose (the football man) told him that to go for the title, we'd need X number of players, which cost a certain amount. When Woodie heard this, he was not interested and preferred to save money and go for top 4 instead. Top 4 is all he cares for because a title challenge costs too much money and does not yield enough financial gain to warrant it. Top 4 keeps us relevant, keeps us earning the CL money and does not require huge investment. This is what maximises our profit.

Remember Woodie's aim is not to have us winning. It is to have us making the maximum profit possible. If profit could be maximised by finishing in 10th place, then 10th place would become our target.

Anyone saying they won't watch as theyve had enough are not true reds, just glory hunters. Go support Arsenal or spurs.

My friend, Glory Hunters would not be watching/supporting Spurs or Arsenal. I am unsure if this was serious or not.

I’d sign a 2-0 lost right now...I think this can get Chelsea ugly 6-0 or some shit like that

    Bingo.

We deserve a perfomance tonight after the lazy woeful show against everton.
I will be supporting them as always as i have through good and bad times for many years before fergie landed and we got very spoilt with silverware.

I dont want liverpool to win the league but there's no way i want to see us stuffed tonight to stop the scousers.

    Bring it on.

A brilliant post by a passionate United supporter.
Much like you all I am hoping for is a proper attacking Manchester United performance and if we win then even better.
I am not interested in City or Liverpool and whoever wins the PL then good luck to them.
Until United next win it, I don't care the slightest.
I want us to win and win well.
I want us to qualify for the CL.
I want United to win the PL and I want United to win the CL although I do accept that this is not possible with the current squad of players.

Looks like Utd are increasingly likely to help Liverpool achieve a historic League and CL double.

    Precisely.
He and the owners have one agenda but the fans have another.
Making money should be a means to an end and not the end itself.
Owners of a football club especially Manchester United ought to understand what that football club is all about.

    It is about ambition.
    It is about passion.
    It is about hope.
It is about dreams and turning those dreams into reality.

If they are only interested in making money then buy Amazon or something like that where the only thing that matters is the bottom line.

We should go with a 3-5-2 tonight. We have more balance going that way as we have no real wingers, and no real wingers on form at that. Mctominay, Pogba and Herrera in midfield, with Lingard behind Rashford. We all know City are strong in midfield so Lingard can drop back to stiffle Fernandinho and give him a problem going forward.

    Cmon UTD!!

Sadly, I think you are spot on. Also, see Arsenal.

Slight correction: it's the Glazers' aim. Woodward is just their employee. He doesn't have his own aims: the owners set it for him.

Still think we're looking at a disastrous draw here, but being positive I'll predict 3-0 - with OGs from Rashford, Lingard and Mike the chef.

    3-1 City.

We'll start fast have a few chances early on and fart them away like Barca game. They'll go on to score first and we'll be up against it from there.

    Hope I am wrong.

Wolves will get something tonight so come on you gutless bastards - turn up and beat the blue cnuts.

Not feeling confident at all. Lost a lot of faith in these players and a number of them genuinely don’t seem to give a f*** about the club. Again having said, this lot could pull a rabbit out of the hat and get a result that no one anticipates us to get. It’s a derby.

    Starting XI

    Lindelof
    Smalling
    Bailly
    Shaw

    Exactly!

dunno why but I think we will fight like demons tonight - Old Trafford will be rocking and the players will not let us down

    I think we win 2-1

fingers crossed that Wolves beat Arsenal and we go into the Chelsea game with top 4 back in our hands

Lose or draw the derby and we lose dignity and lose all hopes for a top four finish.

Win the derby and we'll hand over the title to Liverpool.

    We brought this on ourselves.

If I were trapped on a desert with no oasis in sight and my very life is being threatened by extreme thirst, you would be the one person I would love to have beside me. Your optimism will see us through.

After I turned off the match at 2-0 on Sunday, I did not want to watch another minute of football the until preseason starts. I just can't bring myself to not watch United. I don't have any expectation of us winning but I think it will be close and could go either way. I just hope the players put up a fight and show some balls after that Everton match. I don't expect Ole to make too many changes either which is worrying in itself. I just hope we don't see Matic or Lukaku and preferably Young but I can understand not playing Dalot or Darmian at RB against City.

If city win I still feel like they'll slip up elsewhere. I can see us losing 0-1 tonight but pool still winning it

A draw is fine for us if arsenal lose.

I've gone for 5-1 to United. I'm going and dont want to be watching us get beat at home by the bluenose cnuts again, last season was depressing enough. We need a performance, if we can't produce one against City at home after that shit-show at the weekend, I dont know if we ever can. I think we'll smash them.

Okay, this is a joke, right?

Still This, but I started supporting on the cusp of the glory days. I have friends who’s teams never do anything with complete muppets as owners and they still support. We have been so lucky as older fans! It’s ok to complain and even not watch with as much interest but United will always have my heart and I always want them to win. It’s the only football I watch anymore really. I’ll be watching tonight and hope we can spark some pride back into the team and go on a run, sneak top 4 and then rebuild from a slightly stronger bargaining position. I can see us drawing this but I was absolutely certain we’d lose to Everton. Mad isn’t it?

I have been supporting United since 1956. Through good (Busby Babes), Bad ( Munich) and Ugly (relegation)
As supporters we need to get behind the team. We may not always like what's going on but it will come good again.
In Holland I support Ajax and this is the best Ajax team since 1995. However next year we will be nothing again with de Ligt, de Jong gone and possibly Neres and van Beek and Ziyech possibly leaving. But in a few years a new generation will come along.
If we build a new team with a basis of
    Henderson
    Laird, Dalot, Williams, Shaw Tuanzebe
    Garner McT Gomes,Levitt
Rashford, Martial, Gomes Chong and Greenwood

We need some good experienced players to compliment these and teach them, same as Sir Alex did with the class of 92

    I live in hope

I'm getting so fecking nervous. Just hit me, Liverpool could be premier league champions in just under 5 hours.:mad::mad:

    Come on City!!!!!

Gone be the most awkward match day thread out. We will celebrate City goals and give 10s to players who are shite. :D

I do not care about Liverpool, they will win the league at some point under Klopp probably. I just want us to win all of our games. Even if we win tonight, we could still lose the next one judging by recent performances, which will be the worst case scenario.
    Come on United!!

haha... love how most of us took the piss and just went straight for the 0-5 button. was not expecting 17% to do the same  It's not that we truly believe that to be the score, but it's a sad reflection that all over again we're apathetic with the players and our belief has plummeted.

Well...here is my approach for today.

Sorry, but it is counter attacking, but centrally with bodies close to each other; not bothering with width in the initial counter phase. If it's coming to nothing then we recycle and get Shaw up the pitch.

It revolves around security at the back but instead of a 5 at the back I'd rather have more of a presence higher up the pitch, cutting out attacks or shielding before it gets to last ditch tackle time amongst the CB's. So 3 centrally in front of them. Matic sitting deep, flanked by Fred & McT for cover, themselves doubling up on wingers when needed & cutting off passing lanes back infield. I'm not messing around with width up the pitch, isolated wide forwards and an isolated striker. I want Pogba & Martial central as a 3 pronged direct counter with Rashford. Overload their CB's on the break, but also stifle Fernandinho if he's playing. Pog & Martial to drop slightly as the outer DM/CM's cover wide. Basically contain them to the wings a little.

Feel free to proceed to rip the shit out of me.............begin

He's been spot on with lineups recently. I'd post it on the live updates thing but the server for the frontend is down.

Not great if true ... darmian ahead of Dalot? Young on the wing? Pereira against City? Lingard and Rashford alone up top?
