We need the 6 at the back though, without it city are too potent for us.. Pressing means forgoing positions and they have runners all over exploiting that.

For every 1 good chance we got playing attacking football they have 2.

Mourinho learnt his lesson well in spain.
Well...why don’t we just kick them?

Didn't even celebrate that goal as I should have, all the negativity in our play just took it away from me

I want us to touch them in places they don't want to be touched.

feck off, we have give him nothing to work with. What's he meant to do? Chase and win those pointless hoof balls?
to be fair , he is not getting any service..
What do you expect him to do with all the rubbish long balls? He actually started the only attack we've had this half, the one Martial fecked up
Since we don't expect him to drop deep and participate in the link up play (which is non-existent, I give you that) I would at least hope he could win some of the headers and keep the ball a bit better. Also, I am very happy it was Rashford to have this chance, not Lukaku. Expecting a better second half from him.

This teams mentality is really bad at times. This is yet another game where people are so afraid of the spectacle of being in a football match that they can't string passes together. Same shite against Chelsea and Liverpool. It's nothing to do with Mourinho or being defensive, why can't we fecking pass the ball? There's no way Mourinho has instructed the players to keep giving the ball away. This team has some serious growing up to do. How can you be a footballer and be afraid of the ball?

weird game. so annoyed we gave them a goal because for all their possessions they've barely worked DDG. that said, of course, they gave us one too but we've been poor, they've been in charge but to gift them a goal after defending so tirelessly... so stupid. overall I think it shows we are still nowhere near good enough to truly challenge for the title, let alone europe. we need more players who can hold on to the ball in the midfield when under heavy pressure. Pogba does it sometimes and will get even better and stronger but we need at least one more who can take it, hold it and then find lukaka who has been so isolated, which isn't his fault. can only see this going one way, I'm afraid.

Being wary of their attack is one thing. But to sit back like that and allow them into their passing rhythm so easily is suicide. We need to put them under the cosh higher up the pitch and then break. When we are defending so deep and then trying to break the long hoofball isn't working. Our players are better than that.

Noel Gallagher. Christ, Sky, you’re worse than those shite JD Sports Christmas ads.

If we get at City and expose a frailty in their defence then other teams will pay notice. If we don’t win it’ll just help them maintain an invincible aura.

West Ham under Moyes played better than we have today. I think it says something about our performance. Come on we got strikers in form and can do better. Rashford and Martial can do a lot if we use them right. Come on United!

Pretty hard for Lingard to be any good with this hoof ball. All he can do is what he' doing...pressing and being a pain in the arse.

I’m starting a GoFundMe, hope you guys will support it.

Want to make sure we can get Pep a coat that fits him.
What is it with City managers and ludicrous scarves? Is there a scarf department tasked with keeping exotic foreign types cosy on the North West steppe?

I don't think even the absence of Pogba can explain the fact that the likes of Silva, Kdb, Otamendi and almost all the others have managed to waltz into the edge of the box unchallenged at least half a dozen times already. We are letting them have too much of the ball ffs.

-- Mourinho did set up a attacking line-up
-- Our front line has more than enough quality to trouble City
-- The fault lies with the 2-man midfield, they have been non-existent against City's midfield
-- We need someone who runs with the ball in that midfield, how badly do we miss Pogba
-- Given we don't have such player, we are hoofing and praying
-- Zlatan needs to come on in the 2nd half if we are going to continue with hoofball (which we should because Matic and Herrera are not dribblers)

I can't even be bothered about the style of play today. Just want a win any way we can get one - if possible.

Possession stats don't bother me in the slightest.

When we do have the ball, however, we need to use it better. We're losing it a little too easy.

MCFC are there for the taking and will go down!!!.

Ah man I don't know about that. They're definitely dodgy at the back and can look laboured or hesitant in front of goal but they're a solid side and pick up plenty of points against smaller teams.

I reckon they'll finish top half at least

Comeooooooooooooooooooooooooon! That is what happens when you play some fecking football!!!

EDIT: Not really, terrible defending from Big Vinnie (Delph actually) and finally some composure from Rashford. But anyway, we got in their faces for the first time.

It was actually worse by Otamendi - once he missed the ball, Delph always had a problem.

I want us to touch them in places they don't want to be touched.

    A Vinny Jones squeeze?

I do think we need more controlled aggression. If Rojo has to leave the pitch, I don't want Lindelof on with zero aggression.

His album is number 1 right now tbf
What's that got to do with anything? If Sheridan Smith gets to number one will they have her in the studio? I think not. This is embarrassing from Sky, they charge a lot for their packages, people want to hear from pundits who have played the game, not this bellend full of his self opinionated rubbish.

We need to have a go in the second half.

Telling that the few times Martial has been able to advance with the ball, Rashford isn't even joining in, meaning that City has four or five players to deal with Martial and Lukaku.

Sitting back is fine, we have to when we defend, but we need to be at their throats and utilise our attacking options when we get the chance. We won't get something from the game if we don't try.

We have to have a go this half - the way we played 1st half was appalling. City play good football, but they haven't won anything yet - give them a reason to doubt what they're doing Jose, ffs.

Christ, the problem isn't where they started off or where they are playing, the problem is that we're not passing the ball to them. We're knocking the ball up to Lukaku in hope that he'll either hold it up or head it onwards for one of them. It's not come off once. Feed them the ball into their feet and challenge their fullbacks, who are both dodgy (and Walker has been on a yellow card since the 3rd minute but not been tested once)

I agree, get them both taking on their men and stretching their aging (Kompany), dodgy defence and gaps will appear.
