    Apparently Romero to start.
I think that's a bad decision. De Gea's been solid so far, except for the error against Chelsea. I fear the consequences of destabilizing players like that. Mourinho can't afford to alienate the best.

MEN must get most of their clicks from us going on their site to see who's in the squad for the line-up prediction league.
Yeah ;) But it's helpful, despite some errors, since the club doesn't provide that information.

Romero in net? Rojo and Blind center backs? No martial? Ffs, not gonna be pretty is it

As we won't be fired up for it. :wenger:
You would thinks so. Why do people think everyone else apart from us will be fired up. You hope the players will be furious at themselves for their performances and at all the criticism they have been getting. Some will certainly be up for it, but I hope they are all up for it.

Some people just love to come out with negative statements about us. I suppose it just gives them something else to moan about.

    Come on you Reds!

    :nervous:

It's not about being negative. Having blind faith is dangerous. There is nothing that has happened over the last few weeks to indicate that we'll be fired up for it. When we lose do the players still get paid ?

    Romero
    Darmian Blind Rojo
    Valencia Carrick Herrera Shaw
    Mata Ibrahimovic Rashford

Hope it isn't three at the back and it's Mkhitaryan to start, Rojo left out. Also Valencia rested and put Schneiderlin in the middle.

Zero confidence going into this. This season's honeymoon period is officially over and the pre-game foreboding is back.

I am fully supportive of the manager, but I do agree with you.
The pre-game negativity is very similar to what we had before Moyes and LVG games.

Well that's what it boils down to. Have you seen the way we play ? Expecting us to turn it around overnight is asking a lot in my opinion.

Despite might rallying calls, this season has started very much like the first season under LvG, all seemed well for a while then it all got rather boring & disappointing.

If City play with three at the back, then I'd like to see our wingers/wide forwards pressing the centre backs, as opposed to dropping off and marking the wing backs, as this means they'll be too far back for the counter. This happened against Chelsea.

I re-watched some of the Southampton game, and they had a lot of joy with this, and City looked very vulnerable. We just need to take risks. Press from the front and force mistakes. If they get it out to the wing back, then one of our centre midfielders can move over to press, whilst the other two cover the space left.

Make it happen, Jose. Let's take the game to them. They're nothing special.

    Do you mean last season?

In his first season, we had 2 points in 3 games and lost to MK Dons all before the first international break.

I wish he could start Fosu Mensah at right back and Tuanazebe alongside Smalling

Timothy isn't a right back. He's a defensive mid. Darmian is the right back. I agree that Tuanazebe would be nice, but I'm fine with Blind getting all of Smalling's minutes. Shaw or Rojo at LB.

Most of the teams in the league cup are fielding their B teams.

    Mine

De Gea (cause his form has been average)
    Darmian Tuanaz Blind Shaw
    Carrick Herrera
    Mkitarian Mata Martial
    Rooney

Pogba, Ibra and Rashford need to be on the bench, but they also need rest. Memphis would be my first player off the bench.

    PLAY MKHI!!!

    Not expecting great things tonight.

On the other hand, shit as we can be on occasions and great as they can be on occasions, I just can't see Athletic beating us twice inside a month at OT - they're not that great and were not that bad. Wouldn't have happened with Moyes and Van Gaal, even.

So maybe a draw and then dumped out on pens - I mean, Athletic are due to score a few, no ?

Sorry if been asked already, is this thing decided tonight or does it go to replay?

Based on? From what I've seen, TFM's positioning is quite woeful for a defensive midfielder. Especially for one in a Mourinho system.

There are a few articles, but this is my favorite.

The only game that I've seen Timbo play the RB spot good at, was last season's Spurs game where he got hur...Darmian comes in and the Reds immediately give up 3 goals.

None of his other performances (and I've seen all with the first team since that game) he's been average at RB.

Anyway...I think with more practice Fosu could be good at RB. Question is, is that where we need him? I'd rather he be groomed to fill a role right beside Pogba One where he could stop an opposing attack before it gets to Bailly or Smalling.

The defensive midfield is EXTREMELY weak. Pogba defends, but he's not good at it.

    Anyway...sorry for going off topic.

    Timbo, Timothy....you guys pals?

Absolutely. Im nowhere close to losing all confidence Mourinho can get to grips with our problems - eventually. But I think its going to take time - a week or so ago I believed it was about to click and we would rise to the occasion of this little run of games, but that belief has evaporated.

I am right behind Jose and think it will come right, but my god he has some work to do. There are a few players in our squad who are past their best, not good enough or don't care enough. The latter one will be seriously driving him mad.

City will be fired up for this which isn't gonna be good for us.
    Not sure we will.
Team will be a pick n'mix of kids who nay be overawed and squad guys who will be on their bikes at season's end.
Just a few like Kompany, Sane and Iheanacho will be a problem to you.
You'll win it if you put a strong team out.
