Can't wait, was buzzing from the moment I knew, that they got Pep and we got Mou and Ibra. Hope for a match with many goals and a win for us.

Need a little bit of advice. I'll be in Berlin that weekend on a city break - do places in Berlin show United matches?

I've never really been to a city abroad when United have been playing - what are the chances of me finding a bar showing the match?

I'm staying in kreuzberg - but if there are any good sports bars around the city could someone let me know? Thanks

    DDG

    Tony V, Bailly, Blind, Shaw

    Herrera, Pogba

    Mickey, Rooney, Rashford

    Zlatan

Martial and Mata can come on if we're chasing the game, Schneiderlin/ Smalling if we're looking to consolidate.

    -------------De Gea--------------
    Valencia - Bailly - Blind - Shaw
    ------------Fellaini--------------
    ------Herrera -- Pogba --------
    Mkhi - Ibrahimovic - Rashford

We aren't going to play a 4-3-3 and Rooney isn't going to be dropped but I think this is currently our strongest line up. Carrick in for Fellaini if he is still injured. If we play Schneiderlin in place of Fellaini I think we are going to really struggle.

    Wtf is this defeatist crap.

    The inferiority complex is disturbing.

We have every reason to be confident and optimistic.
We've won 3 yes, it would be deluded to just stare at the results. I've seen us struggle with the same things as we did last season, and it wont change immediately it takes time, hence still my doubts. Im not saying we're bad, not in the closest, but City look very strong imo and in this early stage I think they could get the better, there's nothing defeatist about that just because you are all hosanna yourself.

This will be a tough game, both sides just finding themselves under new managers -- could go either way. We have the best defence in the league, they have the best attack.

One thing that gives me confidence is Jose's attention to detail. I think he might be the best one off, big game manager in history -- knows how to set up against any team. It might not always work, but it gives the players confidence in their roles.

We'll have to score two to win, I think. I can't see us keeping a clean sheet, but who knows. Am going to go 2-1 to us, but this is ridiculously tough to call.

No you definitely have a defeatist attitude and clearly haven't watched a city league game this year. If we're struggling, city is too.

Could not break down Sunderland at home, had 77% possession and only 4 shots on goal and won on an OG in the 87th minute
4-1 score against Stoke is a bit misleading. It was a 2-1 game in the 85th minute.

and we'll see what they do to an injury ravaged West Ham side later

But to act like city has been very strong in the league so far is daft. We've been just as good as them, arguably better.

Lineup is really hard to predict for this game with the return of Smalling, the injury to Fellaini and the fact Jose usually tweaks his formations for the big games. On one hand, the safe prediction would be the same lineup as Hull, with Herrera or Schneiderlin in for Fellaini, but if I tried to second guess any tactical tweaks from Jose I'd go for:

    DDG

    Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw

    Herrera Carrick Pogba

    Mkhitariyan Ibra Rooney

In terms of tactics, I wouldn't be surprised to see us press really high. Everytime I've watched City, they've made some mistakes while trying to pass the ball out the back at all costs. The pressure of doing that Old Trafford in a high intensity game might be a good way to disrupt their plans.

I would be guessing something around the likes of this. I would imagine we will let city attack us and then wait for them to make a mistake. Remember when Van Gaal played Chelsea and Hazard scored, well it may be something like that.

Was in Berlin last weekend and watched game against Southampton

    Went to this place -https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/1341597?m=19905

Belushis.... about 5 mins walk from Alexanderplatz

Decent sports bar...loads of screen... good beer and burgers

I see that many of you still are thinking negatively.
You do realise that we are MUFC. We don't have a LVG or Moyes as our manager.
Why are so many of you scared of Man City at Old Trafford?

    1-0, win for MUFC.

I think you and I have been watching different games.

Last season, we got beat by Bournemouth. This season we won.
Last season we struggled to beat LCFC. This year we won.
Last season we struggled to beat Southampton at OT. This season we won.
Last season, we struggled to score goals. This season we are 2nd highest goal scorers.
Last season, if we came up against a team using the PARK THE BUS tactic, we'd lose or draw. This year we won.
Last season we were the most boring team in the league. This season, we are one of the most exciting.
Last season we created very few chances. This season we have probably created more chances than any other team in the league (somebody may need to check up on this).

You say that we have no changed. I say we have changed completely.

Definitely a game for the counter. City press so high up the pitch under Pep that it's essential we break with speed and precision when we win the ball back. With this in mind, Mkhitaryan and Rashford should both start.

We will be their first test of the season. West ham all over the place already.
It'll go both ways, they're also our first proper test. We'll see how well our defence is drilled in this game. The onus will be on us to attack, being at home, but I think Jose will go against convention and just set the team up to defend and break on the counter. A bit like he did with Inter against Pep's Barca side.

I think we have had harder games so far, city have met Stoke in poor form as well as West Ham in poor form and Injury ravaged. We have just beaten hull away who are problably playing as well as they will all season.

Yeah, we have had harder games -- no doubt. It's just that we're the first elite team they'll meet, and they're the first elite team that we'll meet.

It will be our biggest test of course but Citys opponents so far have been nothing short of an embarrassment.

We aren't like that Inter side and City definitely, definitely aren't a patch on that Barca side.

I expect ua to go toe-to-toe with them and I really believe our midfield will dominate their midfield. That will be the key battle and we should be able to come out on that.

Our defense has looked very good so far and our attack has a lot of variety. Think it will be a close game but we will edge it.

Bilic has got his tactics wrong. Leaving his wing backs 1v2 is just silly. Sure the fullbacks tuck in, but Bilic has forgotten that Silva and KDB roam around and can overlap the forwards. What good is Collins against that pace also...

No, but I think the respective outlooks of the two teams will be somewhat similar. We could go toe to toe with them, but it's a dangerous game to play. If we weather the initial onslaught, we should be fine. We'll get a lot of chances because City play so open. It will be a big test for our defence, but I'm confident that we can deal with it. When I say that we'll sit back and counter, I don't mean ten outfield players camped in our own half, just that our defensive line won't be overly advanced early on. It's going to be very interesting. I'm definitely optimistic.

While it's true that City look very dangerous in attack, I can't see us defending this poorly next week. Mourinho will be well aware of the threat they pose, and definitely won't leave so much space behind our fullbacks.
I can see us crowding the midfield and defending strongly, as they definitely look prone to counter-attacks. These are the games Mourinho wins you.

Though honestly, I could well see them beating us, albeit narrowly.

I don't think there'll be an early onslaught from them, but Pep will look to flood the midfield and thread some balls for Sterling and Aguero to run onto. We should look to bypass them by long balls and wing plays.

Definitely need some pace, and hope Zlatan knows how to wind up John Stones.

Don't think Martial will start - I think we'll see Carrick or Schneiderlin on for him

Honestly reckon we'll go for a strong, tall lineup as it makes sense defensively and probably to make the most of our set pieces, but I reckon the game will be mental. Could see this being a proper classic clash. Gonna guess 3-2 similar to last time when van Persie scored that free kick. The passion we showed last match has me so hyped up

Mkhitaryan will need to start as i think he will seriously help us with his pace and ability to transition the ball from midfield to attack effortlessly which is needed against Silva, De Bruyne etc.

If we're smart we'll look to exploit the wings. I don't think either of their fullbacks have fully adjusted to Pep's new demands and if he persists with it in the derby we can get at them there. 2 from Martial, Mkhitaryan or Rashford please. I don't think Mata would be the right person to exploit any spaces out wide because of his lack of pace.

I think this game is going to be a question of attacks, because I'm not hugely convinced by their defence and I'm not sure how our defence/CM will cope with their pressing.

If it were me, I think I'd take out Martial and Mata, stick Rooney on the left, Mkhi on the right and add in Herrera in the middle. I just think City's fast offensive options could wreak havoc on a defensive backbone of Baily-Blind-Fellaini, I'd gladly take an extra body in there. Plus, with Herrera and Pogba surging through the middle on the counter, with Rooney and Mkhi tucking in as well I think we could in turn overload their middle, especially if only Fernandinho plays (though I doubt Pep would go that offensive). Essentially, I'd play a 4-1-2-2-1:

    -----------------Zlatan ----------------
    -------Rooney -------- Mkhitariyan---
    -----------Pogba ---- Herrera---------
    -----------------Fellaini----------------
Shaw----- Blind ---- Bailly ----- Valencia
    ------------------De Gea--------------------

Nope, the city love in is back alive and well. They were awful in that second half, and are far from the finished product, as are we. To call them ''very strong'' is misleading and defeatist.

It's gonna be an even match up.

Pisses me off this is so early. A win has no real bearing on where each team finish up. Still, the intensity will be there with it being a local derby and the hype around the two teams. Would be big if we could win.

It will be an interesting match. We have to frustrate them. The longer they go without a goal, the more frustrated they will become. They completely lack height as well so a set-piece may undo them.

Like today against West Ham, we have to be ready for a period of intense pressure immediately when the game starts and then when the second half begins.

They look good no doubt, but we must not fear them. If we fear them we are already beaten.

I think we'll have our work cut out for us this game. Worried they may rip us a new one in this game. Hope I'm wrong.

They look fluid in attack, but their defence is garbage. It doesn't look like they're playing extreme keep-ball like Pep's Barca either. There's a directness about them, so I don't imagine we'll be chasing shadows for the majority of the game. I think we'll see plenty of the ball, and if we go at them, we should definitely score. There'll be more space in this game because they're not going to park it like Hull did.

Not worried about their press from the front if we start Bailly and Blind with Pogba in midfield. The ball retention between those three is very good. Valencia and Shaw keep the ball very well too. Fairly confident about this one, for a change.
