Pace from lindgard and miki is the big benefit of the changes, especially in comparison to mata.

I think that martial needs the break, he has not looked right all season, but in fairness, this is what you should expect from youngsters, they will dip in form and it is not a major problem long term, he'll get back to his best soon enough.

The fact you want a player who hasn't played in midfield for years over our actual midfielders is what I find strange tbh.

Once again, I had Schneiderlin ahead of Jones, so that notion is not entirely correct. Nevertheless, even if I had Jones ahead the timeframe when a player has or has not played a role is irrelevant in football. When Ferguson first played him there he hadn't play in that role in his entire career. Same thing can be said when Blind got moved to center back and many other circumstances in football.

Nevertheless, I am surprised that I got Lingard and Mhkitaryan started correct. It seems like a tactical change from Mourinho. I wonder how Fellaini will do today.

Relieved City didn't include Kompany at the last second. If we get the ball into Zlatan in the air he should have no problem scoring against that City defence. Very obvious lack of height in their end. Lingard is a good choice. Pace and will run all day to help the team defensively.

Yeah I do worry about Fellaini. He's done the defensive side really well so far this season but he's not had to face so many players trying to run in between the lines and he's always struggled with that. I suspect that's part of the reason Mkhitaryan and Lingard are playing over Mata and Martial - press from the front and protect the back.

Delighted to see Mkhitaryan! Hope we see Rashford after an hour.
