There is someone to blame, it’s the same guy it’s always been. The guy putting the team together and giving out the baffling instructions. The guy who hasn’t done any demonstrable coaching in over two seasons. These are professional players who look like they can’t do the basics. Yet much lesser players at other clubs can. It’s all down to coaching.
When you put a team out that is set up suicidially, like lambs to a slaughter, and they start getting pulled apart in front of 75,000 rabid fans, you can’t rip on that player for looking nervous and without confidence. It’s my idea of torture. People baying for your blood and screaming abuse at you for everything you’ve done wrong, when 95% of what you’re doing is what the manager has told you to do.

You’re only very likely to lose it if you make the wrong decision (and also get outmuscled) like Mainoo did. Plenty of things he could do there where he doesn’t lose the ball. Receiving under pressure is part of being a good CM, Modric for example receives in that position and unfailingly keeps the ball.
Rashford has been better.I think Zirkzee had a little wake up call today. I noticed he got intercepted a few times thinking the ball would get to him, but instead a sprinting Liverpool player comes across and takes it from him at the last yard with ease.
