We will get an undeserved win. Counter attack 1-0. Post match thread comments will be the usual “we were crap but 3 points and win is all that matters”
Would you actually care how we play if we win 1-0 against Liverpool?

United struggle to play against a 2nd rate high press. We are playing against one of the best drilled teams in the world here. Maguire and McFred will be targeted during our build up attempts. I’m expecting it to be a real issue getting any rhythm to our play
I think you're over estimating them. Don't think we're any worse than Atletico and they gave them a lot of trouble.

This has draw written all over it IMO. Would love us to smash and grab, but have a feeling both teams will be cagey.

    Draw written all over it?
36 goals in 12 games for Liverpool and United conceding goals for 19 games in a row?

Love your optimistic viewpoint even if it is a bit mad.

This has United loss written all over it. Anything more is a real bonus

If you look at our home results against them in the last few years, it's been mainly draws. The way I think Ole will set up and Klopp also won't want to lose this. It's as important they don't lose this game as well, so they won't go mad.

What are the chances of a surprise Varane start today?

I'm normally optimistic before every game we play...but we're going to get battered today...Klopp will have Ole's game plan - if there is one - figured out in seconds.

Liverpool to win by 3 or 4 goals.

Our best chance would be if prioritised counterattacks and high pressing with a team of:

    Cavani

    Rashford--Bruno--Lingard

    Fred--McTominay

    Shaw--Maguire--Lindelof--AWB

    Henderson

But politics demand that Ronaldo start. And to be fair to Greenwood and DDG, they're bang on form. Plus, Ole loves Pogba. So I've got no idea how we'll go.

If Bruno is out, 4-3-3 is a no brainer.

    1. We start slowly - clumsy and sloppy passes without any tempo.
    2. The shower of shit continues and we concede a goal.
    3. We try to up the tempo but everyone looks clueless as usual.
    4. Fans hope that we make it to the HT without conceding more.
    5. We come out guns blazing in the second half.
    6. We score a goal to equalize.
    7. We lose 3-1.

    Ta-da!

This guy actually put Henderson in his team. :wenger:

Don't see it but I hope you're right

I've got visions of lions mauling their prey.

We were much worse and in much worse shape, and they were literally a game winning machine, before the 1-1 in 2019.

We had a backline of Shaw, Maguire, Rojo, AWB and James on the right that game, with Martial and no Pogba.

That was when Klopp used to shit himself when he came to OT for whatever reason.

He seemed to abandon that in their two games vs us at home last year

I’ve got a feeling Ole might go for 3 at the back, similar to what he went with against PSG away last season.

    Starting XI

    De Gea

    Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw

    Wan-Bissaka - McTominay - Matic - Telles

    Fernandes

    Greenwood - Ronaldo

Subs: Henderson, Dalot, Bailey, Van De Beek, Pogba, Lingard, Sancho, Cavani, Rashford

Score Prediction: Manchester United 1-0 Liverpool (More in hope than expectation as I’d take any sort win no matter how we manage it against this lot)

Think we found Dean Henderson's account

Why do you want an injured player to start? Only our manager does that. Did you not see what happened at Leicester?
I don't want an injured player to start. He's been training. I'm hoping he's fit obviously.

and I fancied us to get something that day!....probably. Maybe I was just as downbeat then.

Maybe I'll feel it closer to kick off. Anything can happen in this game, it's a lot less cagey than the Anfield ones.

We won’t win today. I just hope we don’t get embarrassed. Ole obviously means well but his recent press conferences have sounded delusional - he doesn’t portray confidence.

    Fair enough.
But logically, do you think we are going to win? What if you had to bet a lot of money on the result, logically, what do you think the result will be - W, L, D?

    That’s why I said it’s irrational. Let’s see.

Going for a 2-2. We're obviously going to concede because that's the rules and I can definitely see us giving that Liverpool defense some real problems. Hopefully, Trent is playing because I think Rashford could rip him apart with how poor he is defensively.

Rashford and Ronaldo scorers for us.

Also, I think Liverpool have one of the highest xG when it comes to set-pieces (corners in particular) while we have one of the highest xGA when it comes to set-pieces. Shoulder be fun then :nervous:

Now would be a really nice time to finally keep a clean sheet

The Old Trafford crowd should and will be our 12th man today. I think it was last game vs Liverpool pre Covid that our crowd was simply amazing. Hope that lifts us to play our best and surprise all the pundits predicting a Scouse easy win.

We could very well lose this by quite a few goals, or we could win. I really dunno.

    Crowds's been great lately.

Wait, why would you leave out De Gea?

And if Ole loves Pogba so much, then why didn't he start in a must win game against Atalanta on Wednesday?

So we all agree a draw is a terrible result?

When you dint beat the poor teams you a have to beat the best.

A win has us on 4 points out of last 12.

A draw or loss on 2 or 1 point out if last 12.

Let's hope we manage to pull out a win

Where's problem-solver Sergio Ramos when you need him.

Hopefully someone can do a job on him but would have wanted at least an Ander Herrera to be his shadow for the full 90.

Herrera was bloody excellent at that job.
