This is often said about Blind but has he ever been caught out due to pace while playing at LB? He reads the game so well he usually stops the danger before it gets the that stage. I can't remember him getting skinned like Darmian often does when playing there.
Not often do you come across a team like Liverpool whose FRONT FOUR, not just one or two players but all their attacking players, have rapid pace. Thats why this situation is different. But I agree that is a really intelligent footballer and hopefully who ever plays LW drops back often to support him.

It's all about defending like a team, being compact and all, not leaving Blind isolated and 1 on 1 on any of their attackers.

Did you not see Traore skin him every time he touched the ball a week ago?

The difference on Sunday could be the bench. The two best first 11 are pretty evenly matched. After that Liverpool get thin and we have a definite edge

Our fans are shitting themselves prematurely.

Yes, we were poor yesterday. But the Plymouth game hardly counts and vs Sunderland we were knackered after playing two games in 44 hours. It's not even been two weeks since we beat Man City.

I think Klopp will go all out to try and get the strongest XI out there. Despite his poor recent form, I think Can will start and we'll play more or less the same team we did vs City, but with Matip in for Klavan.

I'm worried that this game might get postponed due to weather issues. This is the best time to play Liverpool and we might miss out of it due to the weather.

Similar thing happened in 2010-2011 season when we couldn't face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge due to the weather when they were really struggling in the league and then on the postponed fixture we ended up losing the game due to that ridiculous decision by Martin Atkinson.

For whatever reason I'm still furious about that. I remember it, it was February. Was so annoyed for the rest of the season.

That combined 11 is a joke. I'd have:
    De gea
    Valencia Bailly Matip Milner
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Mane Ibrahimovic Mkhitaryan

And even then, Martial on form gets in ahead of coutinho. Guess you can make an argument for lallana or herrera, but with pogba being the more attacking one anyway, herrera would be more competing with can or hendersen. So easy win there.

Liverpools quality is Klopp getting them to perform to a level greater then their individuals. They work well together and play at a high pace that is hard to defend against. Individual player wise, we are probably the best in the league so Liverpool cant really touch us there.

Edit: Put Miki on the left, Mane on the right.

Agree with most of it, but to be fair to Liverpool, Mane does deserve a spot, he's been good for them this year, plenty of goals and assists.
Sad to see Milner in the combined 11 though :)

I'd put good money on this being the team. Only question mark is whether Matip is ready or not. `if not then Klavan steps in, he's done well every time he's played .. bar the Southampton game ... and he's good in the air too. I know three players are just back from injury but if you were ever going to take a gamble then this match would be it.

    ---------------Mignolet---------------
    Clyne----Matip --Lovren--Milner
    --------------Hendo------------------
    --------Lallana----------Wijnaldum----
    Origi---------Firmino-----Coutinho--
Agreed on the team but im not entirely sure it'll be Origi wide right, think Klopp is much more likely to push Firmino on the right. Whichever way we spin it this is an important game, not arsed about the performances till Mane gets back just need to grind out the results.

It was only a month or so ago we had teams constantly penned back in there half, Matip dominating the backline and swallowing up any long ball allowing us to restart attacks and put wave after wave of pressure on the opposition. Hopefully we can get back to that soon, as of now with with the squad in the shape it is any which way will do.

What is Sourness on? Seriously I can't think of anyone apart from Coutinho that I'd have in our side. I wouldn't take anyone else. We're gonna hammer these clowns on Sunday. They are gonna get found out big time.

Well, he got the GK choice correct.
And Milner is great, as round pegs & square holes go. Brings more going forward than Blind or Darmian but still not a defensive LB imo. Gonna get shown up on Sunday, weather permitting.
Not much between the CB options; they may have a slight edge but generally their defending has been woeful at times compare to ours.
Who wouldn't take Tony V's strength & tenacity over what Clyne has to offer? I would all day, every day!
And how does Henderson make it into any team let alone a "best of" :wenger:
No Pogba = No sense ... That's just crazy!

    Souness = Plonker

Milner's been really good at left back really, while all of United's have been "meh". So yeah, he's in by default more then anything.
Agree with Mane, though Mkhitaryan is a better player. Probably should put Miki at left wing though. Yeah that works better.

Yeah, don't disagree with Milner, but still sad to see him in a combined United and liverpool 11 ;)

Martial has never had a season like Coutinho is having so far this season.

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Rojo Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Mata Ibra Mkhitaryan

Bench options: Fellaini, Lingard, Rooney, Martial, Rashford. Any of them can come on and change the game.

To be honest I think we'll do them 3-0.

That defence is shocking. I can understand putting in a decent number of Liverpool players, they're second in the league after all and have played some great stuff at times. But they've actually conceded 4 more goals than us so an all Liverpool defence is a joke. De Gea cannot fix everything.

I only want victory for this game.

We'll have to be very good defensively in order to nullify Lallana and Coutinho.

I hope our wingers will give a lot of work to their full backs.

We have the weapons to beat them, just make sure that we'll defend well first and in attack we won't miss much.

I don't see a lot of chances for us, so the guys better score.

As for Ibra, he never shines during the big games so I really think that he'll be poor

    -------------------------------De Gea-----------------------------
    Valencia-------------Smalling------Jones-------------------Blind
    -------------------------------Carrick-----------------------------
    Mkhitaryan----------Herrera-------Pogba-----------------Martial

    With Mata, Rooney coming on

Valencia vs Clyne is a coin-toss TBH, I like both players a lot. CBs are clearly Matip and Bailly, no question. Can't disagree with Milner at LB as he's been exceptional. Both Henderson and Carrick have strong cases for inclusion in front of the back 4.

In attack I understand that of course prejudice plays a big part in the selection however based on form over the season there is no way Mkhitaryan (who has only recently started playing up to his billing) usurps Mane (who has played well and sometimes exceptionally, all season) or Martial (who has been on the periphery and doesn't always make the starting lineup) over Coutinho who has been one of the PL's outstanding players up until his injury.

Neither player is on that team sheet.

Just visited Rawk, they're a horrible bunch and have literally 0 idea about united, I saw a dude say he was 100% sure we will start fellaini. Another guy saying we've looked average, half these boys haven't even seen us play!

Well up for this game, confident, in form, at home vs an out of form exhausted team missing a very influential player in mane, sort of shits on their strategy a little not having him in the side, they'll have to have a striker out wide or lallana/Milner jump up to RW. Hopefully Matip doesn't make the game and if Milner plays RW then Henrik will skin Moreno alive, I'm sure he'll do just that to milner too!

What are everyone's thoughts on our LB position? Since Mane isn't around maybe Blind would be best since he's so defensively aware and can whip a good one in
