Rooney in midfield is not working.
What a goal that was by RVP,worldclass finish!!!
3-0 is a good lead but hope to see us score more goals in the 2nd half.

The score looks about right. But was anyone ready to shit themselves when Leicester were in our end the last couple of minutes? :lol:

This is what we've been missing for too long - quick, incisive passes that expose opponents and leave them out of position. Blind and Di Maria have been excellent, Januzaj has also been pretty good in a secondary role. I also like how Rojo is trying to thread passes through two layers of defense, though it's not really coming off. We could be playing at an even quicker tempo but it's certainly a start.

Still a few negatives.

We scored off the corner but our set pieces are generally poor and we are really missing Mata in those situations, as he's clearly out best taker of free kicks. We laugh at Jones taking corners, which he naturally shouldn't be doing, but is he really any worse at those plays?

We're also creating a real problem for ourselves in playing Rooney instead of Herrera in MF while van Persie and Falcao are playing well. If RVP and Falcao are producing, LVG will keep Rooney in midfield where doesn't belong. Rooney is doing his best but I think he was terrible in the first half. He's trying to do things that his skills set simply doesn't allow him to do. Herrera should be in that middle spot and I am disheartened to watch him sit on the bench while Rooney struggles.

I doubt that there are any genuine Rooney haters on here. Posters criticizing him in this match are doing so, because he does not seem to be comfortable as a midfielder. A couple of his lapses in concentration could have led to a goal had we been playing against a better side. Wayne is a striker, however, LvG thinks otherwise. So far, I have seen nothing to suggest that Wayne would make a Manchester United level central midfielder. Its not his fault though, as he is playing in the position that the manager told him to. LvG is the cause of this issue, not Rooney.

They've all been worse than him for us this season yet (most of them) get in the team more often than not. Why does Rooney play in midfield when we've got better midfielders (of which Herrera is just one) than him?

Maybe it's because the ones that are unsuccessful are passes he shouldn't be attempting. The reason supposedly Herrera doesn't get in the side.
