Good to hear him talk about tactical changes publicly. It seems to me that has been underplayed this offseason, that we have brought in Kieran McKenna and Carrick to the coaching setup to replace Rui Faria. That has the potential to be a bigger impact than any signing though it may take some time to be obvious.

Well whatever he's talking about (for me it's unclear), he specifically says he can't work on it until he has his senior players back. So no, it wouldn't have been noticeable in pre-season, when we were fielding a hotchpotch of fringe players and kids.
but wouldnt it be a good assumption that a manager would want to instill this new way of playing on all players, just in case they had to fill in for the senior players (like we need to at the start of the season)? Idk i am very confused about what he is trying to say overall.

Can't say I'm not apprehensive about this one.

I have no idea what kind of display we're going to see.

Everything just feels all a bit combustable.

This feels like a massive game for us. If we make a hash of it, then don't beat Brighton (away) and Spurs we'll enter full meltdown territory going into the international break.

Go guns blazing ... something to lift the spirits and perhaps then maybe the doom and gloom around the place will lift.

    de Gea
    Darmian Bailly Smalling Shaw
    McTominay
    Pereira Fred
    Mata Rashford Sanchez

Bench is difficult to judge - could include Fellaini, Pogba, Lukaku, Martial, Lingard etc. However, it's probably more likely to include Jones/Lindelof/Young. José will just be praying that he can have game changers and players with physical presence to push forward at the end if it comes to that.

At least this is probably a Leicester without Kante, Mahrez, Maguire, and Vardy for the first time? Wouldn't be surprised if that's the case (especially as two of them don't even play for Leicester now )
Vardy & Maguire will probably start.

Do people not having Martial starting because Jose said something, or just because of the preseason drama?

    I can’t wait for tomorrow’s game!

    C’mon United!!!

Think that Pogba may start this one.

I am confident that we should have enough to beat Leicester. Too much had been made of the pre-season doom and gloom BS.

Sanchez and Pereira were positives, plus Fred.
If Jose can get Martial firing (so glad he is still here) then this season could be a good one!

How are Leicester looking? Are they missing any players? Other than Mahrez who was sold

I think it will be very difficult tomorrow. You will miss half of your first team with Matic and Valencia being out for sure and I cannot imagine that Pogba, Lukaku or Young will be ready to start. Also, most of your squad had no proper pre-season. I think it will take a few weeks with important players coming back from injury and the world cup starters getting into form and fitness until you can expect good, solid performances. Also, Leicester is a decent midtable-side.

So please just avoid a negative start into the season that so many Einsteins in the media (and also some people on this forum) hope for. I would be happy with any win.

I would go with something like that:

    De Gea
    Darmian-Bailly-Smalling-Shaw
    Fred-McTominay-Pereira
    Mata-Rashford-Sanchez

Bench: Grant; Lindelof, Jones; Pogba, Fellaini; Martial, Lukaku

How are Leicester looking? Are they missing any players? Other than Mahrez who was sold
    Probably -
    Schmeichel
    Pereira Morgan Maguire Chilwell
    Iborra Ndidi Silva
    Albrighton Vardy Gray
If Maguire & Vardy don't start then Soyuncu & Iheanacho? They might start Maddison also.

Feeling weirdly optimistic about this game and the season ahead in general. Truly cannot wait to get this one underway. I feel Jose works best under these types of conditions. Come on United!!

What injury did Ander pick up? No chance he'll make it for tomorrow?

Do people not having Martial starting because Jose said something, or just because of the preseason drama?
Think he's going to be in the doghouse for at least the first month...or three

If Jose can get Martial firing (so glad he is still here) then this season could be a good one!

Think again, he will be on the bench along with Rom and Jese.

So glad this is back and we don't have to endure any more painfully long transfer sagas.

Unless Barca decide to be dicks.

Hope we make a good start to this one.

    Lineup prediction:

    DDG

    Darmian, Bailly, Smalling, Shaw

    Herrera, Pereira, Fred

    Lingard, Rashford, Sanchez

For some reason I can see Leicester holding us to a 1-1 draw.

Glad this is tomorrow, bring on the football and 3 points.

Football is back. A lot of negativity surrounding the club this summer but a big win to start the season would set the right tone and calm everyone down. I hope Andreas starts tomorrow, best player in pre-season. He's earned a chance. 2-0 win.

    Probably -
    Schmeichel
    Pereira Morgan Maguire Chilwell
    Iborra Ndidi Silva
    Albrighton Vardy Gray
If Maguire & Vardy don't start then Soyuncu & Iheanacho? They might start Maddison also.
I can't remember seeing anyone from that midfield 3 play

I also think Pogba will start. He has to, he’ll still be buzzing from the World Cup and hopefully want to show his commitment. Jose will appreciate that too.

That and a thumping win will go a long way to settling everyone down.

Not overly pleased with our transfer window but have to say its refreshing to hear that we are not going along with Mourinho's short - termism, if the media briefings are to be believed. Time to get behind the boys tomorrow, hope OT is rocking. 5-0 to the Red Devils.

I can't remember seeing anyone from that midfield 3 play

Ndidi was touted to go to a bigger club. Iborra was impressive in the world cup both athletically and football wise. Commentators couldnt stop talking about what a bargain Leicester got. Both midfielders will run more than Utd to win the ball back. BUT...Utd don't play possession football so pretty much negates their strengths.

Don't know who Silva is. Or which one of the twenty we seem to have in the PL.

We need any sort of a win tomorrow. Otherwise it'll turn ugly very early.

    De Gea
    Darmian Bailly Smalling Shaw
    Pogba Fred
    Lingard Mata Sanchez
    Rashford
Lingard is not even in training for us, Bailly suffered an injury in the last game while Smallign has been back after an injury too, surely Lindelof who had a decent game against Bayer will start alongside my bet would be Bailly who will play through injury..

I am actually confident ahead of the game tomo...eh today already. I'd be 100% confident if herrera was fit to play but he still might but even with McT we should be winning it easily even with Darmian as a wingback in some poor system like 3-5-2. We played some tough games in the preseason against the top sides against which weĺl probably struggle this season too but Leicester should be playable from the off

At last it’s here. On field we have talent and the brightest part of seasonn would be seeing rashford Martial and Sanchez complement lukaku. Let’s get behind the team.

I voted 1-0 but hoping for a good win with some signs of where we’re headed style wise.

I'm in the US for this. Can any of our American Caf members tell me what channel this is on? Cheers

Didn't Pogba start against Southampton, without having any sort of preseason? I could see him and maybe Lukaku starting (although I'd guess he might need a bit more work to get match sharp based on his physique).

As someone said earlier, would love to see us come flying out of the traps, really intense, high tempo and give Leicester a battering. I know that's not Mourinho's style and we will most likely be more measured and pragmatic in the face of adversity. But if ever we needed a performance to blow out some of the negativity, it's now.
