Dalot clearly doesn't feature in Ole's plans going forward, therefore it'd be nice to see Laird. I was impressed with him against FC Astana.

The very important advantage we have now is the fact that we can rest a whole bunch of players in the next match as well after this.

I agree with some of that, but the last part is completely wrong. Many great teams started by winning some minor trophy and serves to give that team confidence to go forward; this was one of the biggest problems imo for Spurs (and Poch), players need to have their hands on trophies if they are to go from strength to strength, i think Ole knows this too. We are not going to win the CL or PL next year so it's crucial to win as many of the other trophies as possible.

That's often spouted, but is there any proof to that? We won the Europa league and Carling cup under Jose, the FA cup under LVG and the team didn't become any better or "more hungry" than before?

Liverpool didn't need a first trophy win to kickstart them. Spurs were a bit of luck away from winning the CL.

Leicester won the league without any prior trophy.

Personally for me that's all over rated. If you're good enough you'll win, most of these players are born winners anyway to even get to this level.

Yes it will be nice for the team to win a trophy but it's not the most important objective.

If we end up looking like zombies at the end of the season again because we had no pre season and no proper rest, then we won't win anything no matter how experienced we are.

Don't have to look too far. The Ronaldo-Rooney post RVN team got their hands on the league cup and went on to greater things.

Agree this is the perfect game to throw in some of the players on the verge of our squad like Mengi and Laird, hopefully not second string players we could well be selling

It's best to give those second string players game-time just in case they're needed in the Q-F, S-F and Final if we pick up injuries.

Most, if not all, the bench players at Leicester would start I would imagine, that would be Romero, Fosu Mensah, Bailly, Fred, McTominay, Mata, Lingard, Ighalo and James. That means we are looking for a FB and a CB. Laird or Dalot possibly, and Mengi or Jones if fit. Pereira could also come into the equation, with Bishop or Kovar on the subs bench with Mengi or Jones, Garner, Levitt, Chong, Laird or Dalot, Mellor, Galbraith.
