Having first-teamers match fit for the matches to come is more important than giving the kids a run out, no matter how much of a dead rubber this is.

I expect to see at least a couple more of our big hitters coming on, no matter the score.

I would liked to have had Laird and Garner in the mix. If we still have had a good goal aggregate lead by 60 minutes, we could have bought them on. I get the feeling they maybe aren't as highly rated behind the scenes as most think. From what I've seen, they are going to be great players. But they need game time. Who better to play against than LASK?!

Maguire is starting because we all know Bailly will get injured. If he started Bailly and Mengi he would have to move TFM inside or play McTominay as a CB.

PREDICTION: Lingard will score and play quite well and people will be saying should we keep him around as a decent squad player for next season.

Exactly these lads didn't get match fit during the season and could be needed over the next three games.

I think Ole is correct not throwing the kids in tonight. The likes of Garner and Mengi have literally not played a competitive game for over half a year and expecting them to start was probably unfair. Hopefully they’ll get a good half an hour or so in the second half

I know, could write it in advance, couldn't you. It's the manager's call and given he's only got Jones as the other available CB, no surprise Maguire's playing. Would be nice to see some youth players, but it's probably more about getting some of the players who haven't had much game time since the restart match-fit for the remaining EL matches.

Not to be too much of a Debbie Downer, but I am expecting a terrible match of football. Most of these lads haven't played in ages, so they will be rusty and off the pace. Mata, Fred, McT, Igahlo, James all have been mostly observing, as the first 11 was run into the ground the last few weeks.

I hope the opposition come at us like demons. Just flying at us, attacking all out, non-stop hassling and pressing. That's the only hope we have for this not putting the world to sleep.

I wouldn't have picked Maguire either but I assume he's just going to stroll around, occasionally jump and tell other players what to do. It really shouldn't be a tiring night for him.

Really don't see the point in having Maguire on the pitch for this game. Guy's played 8 billion minutes this season, let him rest for one game at least. No centre backs as subs so he'll play the 90 minutes by the looks of it unless Gardner comes on and McTominay slots into defense which is highly unlikely

An important game for Mata to get some minutes and form before the latter stages. Apart from Bruno, he should be our creative player but more importantly if we are leading and need to retain possession, hes one of our more composed player.

Maybe they were relevant in your younger days but for the best part of this century they've spent their time in the bottom half and also a prolonged period in the lower divisions. If they're the fourth best team historically then the league is even worse than I thought it was.
