Not for the U-21 so might at least be on the bench for the first team on Wednesday.
He should be in the bloody starting XI. Why did the club even bother to give him a new deal if he's never going to get a chance. He should start with Wilson on Wednesday.

mb then so it's not televised then?

I think depending on the team we play, this could be a genuinely tough game to win.

McCarthys Ipswich are a big, strong team. They have a disciplined defence with Berra, Smith and Chambers but Knudsen is an unknown quantity. McGoldrick and Sears are both very quick up front too. We can keep them quiet in midfield but they have tough tacklers in Skuse, Hyam and Coke. Maitland-Niles on loan from Arsenal seems to have something about him too as well as Pittman being in good form. However McCarthy has been notorious at Ipswich for playing very weak teams in the league cup to focus on the league.

I'm not saying we'll not win, even comfortably so but I think there is no harm in playing a similar 11 to the weekend and to get some good results flowing and to ensure a victory against competitive opposition. I'd argue 3-4 changes maximum.

Pereira might, but Wilson isn't starting it seems given he played the full 90 for the U21s today.

If Jones is fit, the defence pretty picks itself for this one with him McNair, Valencia and Rojo. The midfield will have one of Carrick/Bastian plus maybe Herrera since he didn't start Sunday. Up front is more difficult but I think Rooney will start simply because he really really needs a goal. The rest will probably be made up of Young, Pereira and maybe Powell?

Since when has MUTV shown a live first team match???

I don't know I have never had MUTV but it's very stupid that it doesn't show live matches. Who would buy it?

For most of the day it's not even on anything I guess and for stuff like the press conferences you can you a stream, what a waste of money.

You do realise that no football club in the PL are allowed to show live matches on their TV station

    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--McNair--Rojo
    Herrera--Schneiderlin
    Pereira--Fellaini--Young
    Rooney

Ideally Jones makes the bench. I would love Smalling to get a rest but who would come in for him? We can put Blind in for him then have McNair x Rojo as the CB partnership but Blind also needs a rest and with Shaw injured we need him for that left back slot too.

MUTV shows every united game in full after midnight which is useful if you don't have sky or BT sport. They also show U21 games live (I think?) and pre season tour matches etc.

So in that respect, it's pretty useful for £7 a month, The only downside is that the games are not live.

Expecting a good game with a rotated lineup. I certainly wouldn't play either of Rooney or Martial and I've give our first choice (post Shaw injury) back 4 a rest too.

Some faith in the younger/second string players. Show that that mess in Milton Keynes was an anomaly.

MUTV would show the games if they could, but those huge money TV deals quite understandably are protected by massive exclusivity clauses.

MUTV is for games after the footage is released from that exclusivity embargo, plus U21 and Academy games and whatever filler they can fill up the schedule with.

Not worth it as far as I'm concerned. I'd barely ever watch it if I had it, pre-season aside. But yeah, it's fairly clear why they can't show live games.

I think Johnstone deserves a start after been messed around a little (nobody's fault, just circumstances) at the end of the transfer window. He's a fine young keeper as well and needs games.

After that I want to see Pereira and Lingard play. Maybe something like:

    Johnstone
    Valencia McNair Rojo Young
    Herrera Carrick
    Lingard Fellaini Pereira
    Wilson

Just seen that Johnstone, Lingard and Wilson all played for the U21s tonight which as good as rules them out :(

Will there be a stream for this? I know it's not on tv in the UK and some FA Cup/League Cup games are not broadcasted anywhere
It's going to be tricky to find one in all honesty. I've had a brief look around but it seems even the several sites that i pay for won't have it. I will have a more in depth look on wednesday though.

You occasionally do get cup games that simply aren't on telly anywhere in the world, I think. When you get those, highlights/radio etc will have to do :(

I don't know if this game will be like that but I wouldn't be surprised.

Very tricky, but there is hope.
The game is live on Bein Sports (Mena) 10 so there should be a few knocking about. Quality wise? well free streams as a general rule are shocking, despite everyone wanking themselves silly over kodi. but it should be doable.

    Wilson

    Perreira-------Fellaini-------Young

    Herrera---------Carrick

    Rojo-------McNair-------Smalling-------Valencia

    Romero

Jones has started training. We will find out tomorrow if he is available for this game. Certainly not from the start even if so.

No I didn't know this. But they should be able too, what's the point of MUTV then?

The TV rights for the games are sold for huge amounts all over the world, MUTV would have to pay a fortune to have them and the subscription would be many times the £7 a month or whatever it is now.
MUTV replays matches several hours later or the following day, there are interviews with players, ex-players, replays of matches from the past, phone in shows etc and u-21 games and youth games are live I think.
Same with Chelsea TV , Arsenal etc

I'd like to see him get half an hour, then we could have

    Darmian - Smalling - Jones - Blind

for the Sunderland game on Saturday. Probably asking a bit too much of him tbh.

@Sigma there's a whole bunch of conflicting information reg. the live broadcast schedule. So I've just included a couple in the OP :

    Bein :

    Wednesday, September 23

    Capital One Cup (Third round)

2:45 p.m., beIN Sports: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal
2:45 p.m., beIN Sports Connect: Walsall vs. Chelsea
3:00 p.m., beIN Sports Connect: Liverpool vs. Carlisle United, Manchester United vs. Ipswich Town

MUTV Online (not 100% sure) :

Streaming site link not included because front page.

    Hope that helps..

Is there any chance of Jones getting some match rhythm here ?

Think it comes a bit too early for him. The manager has said that he won't rush playing Jones and that he'll most likely play games for the U21s to get back in shape. I'm gonna be really dissapointed if Pereira doesn't get the chance here. Hopefully Lindgard, Wilson and maybe Goss too will recover fast from yesterdays match and be ready for this one. I really hope so at least.

It's a shame what happened to Ipswich. They had a great team with Mills, Brazil, Gates, Muhren etc. I still remember them hammering us 6-0. Gary Bailey also saved 3 penalties that game.
I suppose we got revenge years later (9-0)
