Don't give a toss if we go out of this,

Play the youth from keeper to striker.

..Even Moyes didnt count that.. a proper trip to Wembley:D..Remember Wigan 06, Spurs in 09 as part of our treble winning season...yes please again!
League Cup is in the same "couldn't be bothered" category to me tbf.

De Gea (Still needs game time)
    Valencia
    Rojo
    McNair
    Jones (If fit)
    Schneiderlin
    Fellaini
    Herrera
    Young
    Periera
    Wilson

Well, Liverpool have won this trophy more than us..Here's another reason to win it! ...And the Glory Glory Man United song, one can actually sing the full lyrics again...

    Just the league and UCL?
    Yeah.

Apart from getting a chance to watch some of the fringe players, my main interest in the domestic cups is due to allegiances to Rotherham/Brighton/Halesowen.

Even the hallowed FA cup? I just think its nice to win stuff, be it leagues, cups, club world cups..But I get where you are coming from..Consider it as a chance to give our younger players much needed game time.

Pereira, Lingard, Wilson, Young, Fellaini, Herrera, McNair and Valencia should be all playing in this. Smalling, Blind, Darmian, Martial, Depay, Mata, Carrick and BFS should not be playing in this. That's all. Fill what's left as you wish.

Edit: Better add De Gea to that second list too. Imagine if he gets injured in a silly game like this. No way. Lock him up.

    Romero

    Valencia
    Rojo
    Mcnair
    Blind

    Herrera
    Fellaini
    Pereira

    Young
    Wilson
    Lingard

LVG needs any kind of silverware badly (as do I, as a fan) so I hope he doesn't take it too easily. Hopefully it'll be a fairly regular team with few fresh faces (Pereira, McNair, Wilson) thrown in.

We play at Old Trafford so there's a good chance it won't be MK Dons mk2.

I hope we play a strong team. Pereira and McNair should get starts but aside from that we should utilise our squad with respect for the opposition. I want to win this.

I'd keep Martial in the groove, too. The more goals he gets the better.

Change as many players as possible, our squad is too small to compete on all four front and if we aren't going to play the likes of Perriera, Wilson, McNair and lingard in this game then there aren't going to be many other opportunities. Also have the likes of fellaini, Herrera, young all to come in so should still be good enough.

Just need a strong bench so if things are going wrong we can do something about it which is something we didn't have against mk dons.

Memphis, Martial and Blind at least should get a nice little rest for this one. I'd love to see Wilson and Pereira start.

    de Gea

    Valencia
    McNair
    Marcos Rojo
    Young

    Carrick
    Ander Herrera

    Lingard
    Rooney
    Pereira

    Wilson

SUBS: Romero, Varela, Jones, Schneiderlin, Fellaini, Mata, Martial.

Darmian, Smalling and Memphis all deserve a rest and then should be fresh out the blocks for Sunderland and the Champions League. Back four pretty much picks itself. Think de Gea will play as LVG never seems fussed about changing keeper and we could do with his know-how behind a fairly makeshift back four. Carrick came off early today and may not start vs Sunderland (as Schneiderin-Schweinsteiger worked really well today) so can see him holding with Herrera pushing forward alongside. Rooney could do with sharpening up and scoring a goal or two. Lingard, Pereira and Wilson should all be starting this type of game and when better for them - they have been promised chances after all.

A mixture of youth and experience will do just fine. In midfield I would like us to try the Schneiderlin-Herrera combination and put Rooney in at 10 (get the post injury blues out of the way). Perreira, Lingard and Wilson to complete the front three. McNair and Rojo in defense, maybe Darmian at LB to see how it goes because we might need him there anytime soon. If Valera is still here and fit then he should play RB. De Gea needs to play even though he is playinh like he never left.

Looking forward to seeing Pereira and Wilson get a chance. Fingers crossed on Sam Johnstone playing as well. Would have the rest be a mix of youth and experience. Want Memphis Mata and Martial rested. Herrera Felli and young to start. Would also play rooney hoping he hits some modicum of form

It's difficult to pick a team for this one as LvG is not as change happy as Fergie was with this competition and frankly it is one of our better chances of getting a pot this season.

I actually think Rooney will start as he needs game time after the little lay off, and I think De Gea will also remain in goal.

    De Gea/Johnstone

    Valencia - McNair - Blind - Rojo

    Herrera - Schneiderlin

    Young - Rooney - Pereira

    Wilson

    Heh.

I am thinking the same about Rooney starting. He always needs time following injuries to get better again. Otherwise Fellaini would probably be picked by van Gaal.

    I'd play

    Romero
    Valencia - McNair - Rojo - Young
    Morgan - Herrera
    Lingard - Fellaini - Pereira
    Wilson

That's definitely it with Rooney, resting doesn't usually do much for him, plus against Ipswich maybe he could bag a couple.

Anyone know if there's a place in Freeport, Bahamas that shows English football (preferably United)?

Don't think he'll rest De Gea as he didn't rest him last season when we thought he would with Valdes possibly coming in.

We weren't in Europe last season. And only played one league cup game and Valdes wasn't around then.

FA Cup is another story as I would like us to go for that. Disappointed last season after Arsenal game. Where as this comes at a time, when we got Sunderland and Wolfsburg. Two must win games especially Wolfsburg.

@Niall Think it would be nice if on the banner where it says date/kick off e.t.c you also mention which channel it's on.

Which channel is this game on? :)

Pereira, Lingard and Wilson should start. Everyone else should be a senior player of one sort of another at first.

A youth policy should be targeted. If you throw six youngsters and five fringe players out together they won't have a clue what they're doing and they'll go out. And half of those youngsters won't be good enough prospects to merit that risk in the first place.

Pick the very good ones, and give them an entire game alongside an otherwise serious senior side. That's the only sort of game time that'll be worth anything to them anyway. Meanwhile there are some key senior players who could do with the confidence boost offered by a game like this, Memphis the obvious example. He's playing quite well, but it would be good for him to get a run-out against some less defensively rigorous opposition and hopefully score a goal or two.

Plenty of our better kids/young players are out on loan anyway. Januzaj, Pearson, Rothwell, Blackett etc.

    So:

    Romero
    Valencia Jones Rojo Young
    Schneiderlin Herrera
    Lingard Pereira Memphis
    Wilson
EDIT: And don't start Rooney. Yes, he might rediscover form and bag a couple. But if he doesn't, he'll make it much harder for anyone else to play well. The last thing youngsters need is an out-of-form first-teamer attracting the ball like a magnet but killing the momentum and tempo every time.
